Naruto : My system is weird

Chapter 72

Konohagakure, Ninja Academy Training Grounds.

Sasuke held three kunai between his fingers on each hand. With a light flick of his wrist, the kunai flew from his grasp, striking the tree targets with perfect accuracy, drawing cheers from his classmates.

"Ah! As expected of Sasuke!"

"So cool!! Sasuke, I love you!"

The girls' cheers couldn't stir even the slightest ripple in Sasuke's heart.

The Academy...

Was nothing more than child's play.

Now, Sasuke finally understood a little why that guy Kaito disliked attending classes.

Meanwhile, the ever-defiant Uzumaki Naruto was loudly declaring things like "I won't lose to that guy!" before earning a score of zero under Iruka-sensei's resigned sigh.

Sasuke glanced at Naruto's missed targets, then shoved his hands in his pockets and walked up to Iruka-sensei early. After receiving permission, he left the school grounds, strolling leisurely toward home.

Today was the first day the entire Uchiha clan had left the village on a mission. For some reason, Sasuke couldn't shake a growing sense of unease.

He carried the two ninja swords Kaito had given him every day. As he walked through the Uchiha district, he patrolled the streets like the clan's other shinobi, watching over their territory.

"Sasuke, home from school so early today?"

"Granny just baked a fresh batch of flatbread. Come taste it for me."

As he passed by the civilian shops in the clan district, the elderly woman running the flatbread stall called him over and pressed a warm piece into his hands.

With the entire clan away on missions, and Sasuke just a six-year-old child, the old woman couldn't help but worry whether the boy could take care of himself.

"Thank you, Granny."

Sasuke looked down at the flatbread in his hands, not refusing the kindness. He nodded his thanks.

"You're such a good boy..." The old woman smiled warmly before continuing, "With your parents away, come eat here if you get hungry."

"Thank you, but I'll be fine on my own."

Sasuke bowed deeply to express his gratitude before resuming his patrol.

He understood that right now, he was the only one left to protect everyone in the clan.

It wasn't until the clock struck midnight that Sasuke finally looked up at the artificial sun, ending his patrol for the day and returning home to rest.

Hidden in the shadows, a Root ninja watched the small figure disappear down the street before finally issuing the command.

"Move out!""Except for Uchiha Sasuke..."

"Leave none alive!"

As the words fell, a hundred Root ninjas vanished from their spots, swiftly infiltrating civilian homes. They easily knocked them unconscious with sedatives before bundling them together and dragging them to a predetermined location.

Massacring civilians outright would inevitably leave room for criticism, potentially pushing the Root ninjas into the eye of the storm. Even Lord Danzo wouldn't dare openly exterminate the Uchiha clan.

So...

Lord Danzo ordered them to sedate these civilians, gather them in one place, tie them to utility poles, and electrocute them.

Though the method of death seemed absurd, upon reflection—given that the clan leader's son had previously died under a utility pole while practicing Lightning Release—it wasn't entirely implausible for these civilians to meet a similar fate.

Don't ask.

Just call it the Uchiha clan's unique training method.

"Strange..."

"Why is it so quiet tonight?"

Lying in bed, Sasuke suddenly frowned and reached for the two ninja swords by his pillow.

Normally, there would be the cries of babies or the sounds of couples arguing at this hour.

But tonight...

There was nothing.

Realizing this, Sasuke quickly dressed, strapped on his two swords, and slid open the door to investigate.

However, the moment he pushed the door open, two or three black shadows flashed before him, lunging straight at him.

Sasuke instantly activated his two-tomoe Sharingan. With his enhanced dynamic vision, he clearly saw the attackers holding white cloths.

He saw it!

Sasuke's eyes widened slightly as arcs of electricity crackled around his body. Just as the three were about to touch him, he leaped high into the air, kicking out with both legs and striking the face of the assailant approaching from his left rear.

Swish—

Then, twisting mid-air, he drew his blue ninja sword, channeling Lightning Release chakra into it.

With a crackle, lightning surged along the blade, and in a speed invisible to the naked eye, it pierced through the chest of the enemy before him.

Poof! Poof! Poof!

The three figures dissipated into puffs of smoke—they were all shadow clones.

"Damn it!"

"What the hell is going on!?"

Sasuke had already drawn both swords and, in a few quick leaps, was sprinting across rooftops.

The sudden ambush and the growing unease in his heart made him increasingly frantic.

As he ran and surveyed the area, he soon realized something was wrong with the Uchiha compound...

There were no other clan members in sight.

"Have they all been captured?"

The Root squad leader in charge of the mission coldly glanced at the hundreds of bound Uchiha civilians and indifferently asked his subordinate.

"Aside from Sasuke and the ninjas who left the village, everyone else is here." The Root ninja paused briefly, sensing the memories transmitted by his shadow clone, then added awkwardly, "Sasuke... seems to have noticed something. He's heading this way."

"But I've already sent people to intercept him."

The squad leader snorted in dissatisfaction but didn't reprimand him further.

"Electrocute them. Let them experience the same death as Fugaku's foolish son."

"Yes!"

At the squad leader's command, nearby ninjas pulled out two live wires, preparing to electrocute the hundred civilians gathered there.

Still under the effects of the sedatives, the civilians remained unaware of their impending fate.

Perhaps. To die in such a manner could be considered Lord Danzo's mercy upon them.

Two Root ninjas approached step by step, holding thick electrical cables as thick as wrists. Just as the cables were about to make contact, a faint crackling of electric arcs suddenly echoed in the ears of the hundred Root ninjas.

Then came the sound of metal clashing.

Clang—

A ninja sword descended from the sky, firmly pinning one of the cables to the ground.

"You... bastards!!"

"What are you doing to my clan!!!"

A furious roar filled with killing intent suddenly erupted from the end of the street, charging straight toward the hundred Root ninjas.

Sasuke's small figure stood with difficulty at the center of the road, his clothes tattered and his face and garments soaked in blood.

Every movement he made trembled slightly, clearly having reached his physical limit from the previous battles.

His figure was frail.

On one side stood a six-year-old child, and on the other, a hundred powerful Root ninjas.

Any other child his age might not have dared to do what Sasuke was doing.

Facing a hundred adult ninjas alone was practically suicide.

Yet, Sasuke wasn't thinking about that now. His gaze was fixed solely on the elderly, women, and children behind these men.

At this moment, the courage to protect his clan overpowered the fear in his heart.

Even knowing he might die, Sasuke still chose to stand up and stop them.

Gripping the red ninja sword, he staggered forward, panting heavily.

"Take care of him," a Root ninja frowned, pondered for a moment, then decisively gave the order.

"But..."

A subordinate hesitated, remembering Lord Danzo's command to avoid harming Uchiha Sasuke.

"This is an order! If today's events are exposed..."

"Do you think any of us will survive?"

"Move!"

Hearing this, the Root ninjas finally cast aside their hesitation, drawing their weapons and charging at Sasuke.

Facing the onslaught of a hundred enemies, Sasuke, already at his limit, stood little chance. Yet, he still propped himself up with his sword, swaying as he moved forward.

"Kaito... I'm not that crybaby anymore..."

He murmured under his breath, words only he could hear. Sasuke understood...

He might die here.

Swish, swish, swish—

Just as the Root ninjas were about to reach Sasuke, a barrage of shuriken suddenly flashed from behind, effortlessly cutting down over a dozen in an instant.

"Even beasts... sometimes need their comrades' help, right?"

Sasuke: ?

A familiar voice rang out. Sasuke turned in shock, tears bursting forth the moment he saw the figure behind him.

"Big Brother Shisui!!"

"You've done enough. Leave the rest to me."
