Naruto: Perfect Copy System

Chapter 12: Chapter 12 Outing

Konoha.

A soft breeze rustled the leaves, carrying with it the faint, crisp scent of the nearby stream. Sunlight filtered through the treetops, casting shifting patterns on the ground. The gentle sound of flowing water added a soothing rhythm to the peaceful afternoon.

In a small clearing near the stream, Renzo stood beside a makeshift outdoor cooking station. A small fire burned steadily, and a sturdy iron grill rested atop it, glowing faintly from the heat. Neatly arranged beside him were various ingredients—fresh mutton cut into fine strips, spices, herbs, and skewers, all prepared for today's meal.

This was a long-standing tradition of Squad 8. Every time they returned from a mission, they would gather for a meal, a habit that had started because of their leader, Torifu Akimichi. As an Akimichi, Torifu naturally saw food as more than just sustenance—to him, it was a brilliant way to form bonds.

And today, it was Renzo's turn to cook.

Torifu had always enjoyed these gatherings, but when it was Renzo who was cooking, he was particularly eager. Every time Renzo prepared a dish, it was unlike anything they had tasted before, something from lands unknown, something… otherworldly.

Of course, none of them knew the truth—Renzo was simply making dishes from his past life.

Today, he had decided on a mutton dish from his previous world—Adana Kebab. A dish rich with spices, cooked over an open flame, the meat infused with a smoky, mouthwatering aroma.

Thud! Thud!

As he carefully checked the fire, making sure the temperature was just right, the sound of footsteps reached his ears.

Turning his head slightly, he saw Torifu, Sakumo, and Reika approaching. Unlike their usual battle gear, they were dressed casually—comfortable home clothes that made them seem less like hardened shinobi and more like ordinary people enjoying a rare moment of peace.

Torifu, as expected, was the first to react.

His eyes instantly landed on the ingredients Renzo had prepared, especially the fresh cuts of mutton, the fragrant spices, and the wooden skewers arranged in perfect order. His mouth twitched slightly, a clear sign of anticipation.

"Interesting!" Torifu grinned, stepping closer. "Seems like we are in for a delicious surprise again today."

Sakumo nodded in agreement, his silver hair swaying slightly in the breeze. "I don't know where you come up with all these recipes. If you open a restaurant, all the rest will be out of business in a few days."

Reika, as usual, remained composed. Her arms were folded, her cold black eyes scanning the prepared ingredients. But after a moment, she gave a small nod.

"It looks good."

That was all she said, but considering it was Uchiha Reika, that was already high praise.

Renzo smiled faintly, shaking his head as he reached for the skewers. "Well, let's not delay anymore and start cooking."

Torifu laughed. "That's what I like to hear!"

Without further delay, Renzo began preparing the kebabs.

He first minced the mutton, ensuring that the texture was just right. Then, he blended the spices—red pepper, garlic, salt, and a few other ingredients. As he kneaded the mixture, the strong aroma filled the air, instantly grabbing the attention of the others.

Torifu's nose twitched. "Damn, that smells amazing already."

Sakumo, who usually had a reserved nature, couldn't help but glance over with curiosity. Even Reika, while maintaining her usual indifferent expression, subtly leaned in just a little.

Seeing this, Renzo smirked. "If you're all just going to stare, at least make yourselves useful."

Torifu blinked. "Hah?"

Renzo handed him a set of skewers. "Start shaping the meat onto these."

Torifu grinned. "Leave it to me!"

He eagerly got to work, though his first few attempts were a little uneven.

Renzo then looked at Sakumo. "Make sure the fire doesn't get too strong. We want a steady heat, not a bonfire."

Sakumo gave a small nod and crouched near the flames, adjusting the wood carefully.

Lastly, Renzo glanced at Reika. "And you—"

"I know." Reika had already moved, reaching for the remaining ingredients. Her fingers were precise as she sprinkled crushed red pepper flakes into the mix, ensuring the balance was just right.

Renzo smirked slightly. "Not bad."

The three of them worked together, preparing the dish under Renzo's guidance. There was an unusual sense of ease in the air—laughter from Torifu, a rare soft smile on Sakumo's face, and even though Reika's expression remained unreadable, there was a noticeable lack of tension in her posture.

Unlike in the past, Renzo enjoyed this moment a lot as well, perhaps the surge in strength having lessened his anxiety to get stronger.

Finally, as the kebabs began to sizzle over the fire, the rich, smoky scent filled the air.

Torifu inhaled deeply, his eyes practically glowing. "Oh, I bet it's going to be good."

When the kebabs were finally cooked to perfection, they gathered on the soft grass near the stream, sitting in a loose circle. The sound of flowing water mixed with the occasional rustle of leaves, creating a peaceful atmosphere.

As they began eating, satisfied sounds filled the air.

"Sigh…" Torifu muttered between bites. "This might be the best one yet."

Sakumo nodded. "The flavor is… unique again. Once again tasting like something I've never had before."

Reika, as expected, didn't speak much. But the way she silently reached for another skewer spoke louder than words.

Just as they were enjoying their meal—

"Mmm! That smells good!"

A slightly childish voice rang out.

Turning their heads, they saw a little blonde girl, around six years old, running toward them. Her golden hair bounced with each step, and her large, excited eyes were locked onto the food.

Behind her, walking at a much calmer pace, was a tall red-haired woman dressed in an elegant white robe.

Torifu blinked in surprise. "Tsunade?"

Tsunade beamed. "Uncle Torifu! What are you guys eating? It smells amazing!"

Before anyone could answer, she had already picked up a kebab and taken a bite. Her eyes widened instantly.

"Mmm! Delicious!" she exclaimed, taking another bite without hesitation.

The red-haired woman—Uzumaki Mito, the wife of the late Hashirama Senju—walked up with an amused expression. "Tsunade… you can't just rush over and take people's food like that."

Torifu, quickly standing up, bowed his head slightly. "Lady Mito."

Mito gave a small nod in greeting. "It's been a while, Torifu." Her gaze then shifted toward Renzo, Sakumo, and Reika. "And these must be your students?"

Torifu smiled. "That's right." He then glanced at Renzo. "And he's the one who lured Tsunade here."

Mito's gaze rested on Renzo for a moment.

She said nothing at first, but her eyes gleamed faintly, as if noticing something intriguing.

"So, you made this, child?" she finally asked.

Renzo gave a small nod. "Yes, Mito-sama."

Mito picked up a skewer and took a bite. Her brows raised slightly in surprise.

"Impressive." She didn't offer more words, but there was an approving smile on her lips.

Torifu didn't hesitate to invite Mito to join them, and she didn't refuse. Thankfully, taking Torifu's appetite into consideration, Renzo had cooked enough so that two more people joining didn't make much of a difference.

"Having such chakra reserves while being from no noticeable clans… how interesting."

While eating, Mito couldn't help but give Renzo another look. Her great sensory abilities had allowed her to see the chakra amount that Renzo possessed. Even an Uzumaki or Senju around his age didn't come close to such chakra reserves.

Renzo, however, was lost in thought.

"Maybe I shouldn't have rushed to use that one copy opportunity after all," he thought inwardly.

Choosing between Tobirama and Uzumaki Mito was really difficult but if he had chosen Mito he would have at least copied her abilities to 100%, as she had been sitting with them for nearly half an hour already.

There was also the matter of nine tails inside her body, he wasn't sure about the system being able to copy the nine tails but there was a possibility after all, he probably wouldn't get such an opportunity to be around her for so long again making him feel that he had rushed somewhat.

But what Renzo didn't think about was if he hadn't copied Tobirama that day perhaps he wouldn't even be alive today. What happened in the mission may have resulted in his death and Reika's possibly only Sakumo surviving as he was aware of him growing up safely already through his plot foresight.
