Chapter 114: Chapter 114: Sister
Shindai gained inspiration from the bump on his head and Obito splashing through puddles.
He had even given it a preliminary try—and succeeded. Shindai was absolutely thrilled now. If he kept going down this path, his Kannazuki would become an unstoppable little powerhouse—like an unkillable cockroach!
But right now it was just a preliminary attempt, with many problems still needing solutions.
For instance, there was the issue of magnetic stability, the optimal arrangement of the Iron Sand Body, and how to install mechanisms inside such uniquely designed puppets. All of these problems needed solving—by Shindai himself.
Suddenly, Shindai remembered something. "Oh right! Minato-sama, have you heard of the Raikō Ken summoning technique?"
"Raikō Ken?"
Minato Namikaze thought for a moment before replying. "I do know about Raikō Ken. It's a summoning seal that lets you quickly call forth ninja tools. No hand seals needed—just touch the mark on your hand, and the tools appear instantly, right?"
Shindai quickly said, "Ah yes yes yes, exactly! Minato-sama, do you happen to know where I can get some Raikō Ken summoning seals?"
"That kind of summoning seal is classified as a strategic resource, so you won't find them in regular supply shops. However, if you want some, I can help you get a few copies of Raikō Ken seals."
"That'd be great, thank you!"
With Raikō Ken, Shindai wouldn't need to load large quantities of weapons onto Kannazuki anymore. As long as the weapons were sealed into Raikō Ken, they could be summoned anytime.
The biggest advantage of Raikō Ken was its speed—it could go from summoning ninja tools to throwing them in the blink of an eye. That lightning-fast action let you seize control of the fight and dictate the enemy's pace.
Moreover, summoned ninja tools weren't limited by shape or size. In other words, whether Shindai wanted to store shuriken, kunai, or even missiles, they could all be sealed inside—super convenient.
To Shindai, the difference between having Raikō Ken and not having it was massive.
"Alright then, you guys can leave now—I'm gonna start working!"
Shindai was eager to begin research immediately.
Obito asked doubtfully, "You're not going to eat lunch?"
"Eat? How could I even think about food right now? I must start my research immediately. Oh, by the way Minato-sama, I'll be taking some leave recently—if there are any missions, don't call me unless my puppet is completed. Getting interrupted halfway through might make me lose my inspiration—that'd really mess things up."
Shindai was planning to finish the new Kannazuki in one go—he wouldn't have time for regular missions.
Kakashi looked at Shindai with narrowed eyes, "You're not trying to avoid missions by coming up with this excuse, are you?"
Rin Nohara and Obito also looked at Shindai suspiciously.
"Are you seriously accusing me?! I've got nothing to hide! I walk the straight path—no shady ideas ever!"
Shindai's face flushed bright red. In the past, he really did make all sorts of excuses to avoid missions, but this time, he genuinely wanted to develop a new Puppet—this wasn't about dodging his duties.
So Shindai was furious when no one believed his honest words!
Unfortunately, his anger didn't help—he had way too many sketchy excuses in the past.
At that moment, Minato Namikaze said, "Alright, if Shindai truly wants to develop a new Puppet, let him focus on his research. When missions come up, Kakashi, Obito, and Rin can go first. Once Shindai finishes his Puppet, he can join you."
With Minato's support behind him, Shindai stood tall and proud. "See? Only Minato gets the big picture. You should all take notes!"
Obito and the others looked at Shindai speechlessly—what did any of that have to do with seeing the big picture?
Rubbing his hands together somewhat bashfully, Shindai said, "Minato, I also have another small request…"
Minato raised an eyebrow. "Another request? Just say them all now."
"Umm… Earlier, Master Jiraiya gave me some basic Konoha Ninja Tech materials, and I've already gone through them all. I wonder if Minato could help me get some advanced Ninja Tech materials?"
Minato readily agreed. "Sure thing. Later, I'll ask someone for those materials and give them to you along with the Summoning Seal."
"Hehe, thanks a lot, Minato!"
Shindai grinned ear to ear—clearly over the moon.
Kushina Uzumaki asked, "Shindai, you're really not going to eat? It's not like it'll take much time anyway, right?"
Shindai shook his head. "Nope, I'm really not going. While my inspiration is still fresh, I need to write down my research plan. If I eat first, I'll just feel sleepy afterward and forget everything."
This time, everyone genuinely believed that Shindai was eager to start researching. After all, given how much he lived for food, there was no way he'd voluntarily skip a meal.
Kushina said, "Fine then, we'll leave first. When Minato gets home later, I'll make him bring you something to eat."
Shindai hadn't expected Kushina to be so thoughtful and willing to bring him a meal.
"Thank you very much, Lady Kushina!"
Hands on her hips, Kushina stared at Shindai and said, "Call me 'Sister'!"
Minato, Kakashi, and Obito all looked at Kushina in surprise.
This was the first time they had ever heard Kushina ask someone to call her "sister."
Minato quickly figured out why.
Firstly, Shindai had helped both him and Kushina.
Secondly, Kushina originally came from the Uzumaki Clan in the Whirlpool Village of the Uzushiogakure Country and had been brought to Konoha due to her unique constitution.
Similarly, Shindai had initially been a ninja from Sunagakure but had also ended up in Konoha because of his special bloodline limit.
Similar experiences had given Kushina Uzumaki special feelings toward Shindai.
Shindai didn't think much about it. Calling someone "Sister" wasn't going to hurt him anyway.
"Sister Kushina."
Kushina smiled happily. "Then you keep tinkering here. We'll leave first."
After Minato Namikaze and others left, Shindai immediately took out paper and pen, beginning to write down his plans.
Shindai seemed particularly energetic now—he must have rested enough in the hospital. He kept writing tirelessly.
He lost track of time.
Shindai stretched lazily, looking at the densely written paper on the table with a strong sense of accomplishment.
"Are you done writing already?"
"Jeez!"
The sudden voice made Shindai jump three meters high, landing straight into the pool behind him.
Shindai focused his eyes. "Obito? Why are you here? Didn't you go to eat?"
Obito was sitting right across from Shindai, but Shindai had been too focused to notice him.
Obito pointed at the food on the table. "I finished eating long ago. It's already late night now. I came here to bring you dinner."
Shindai jumped down from the pool, patting his chest. "You nearly scared the life outta me! Sister Kushina said she asked Lord Minato to bring me food. Why did you come instead?"
Obito gave Shindai a resentful look. "Shindai... Have you forgotten something important?"
Shindai stared back blankly. "Huh? What are you talking about?"
"It's Rin's gift!"
