Chapter 228: Chapter 228: Who Is the Real Lie?
Whoosh!
Countless sand bombs rained down toward Naruto, Killer Bee, Orochimaru, Minato, and the others.
Naruto frowned. Isn't this Shukaku's technique? Why does this old man have it?
There was no time to dwell on it. Naruto instantly flashed in front of Killer Bee and the others, spread his arms wide, and shouted:
"Shinra Tensei!"
In a flash, a gravitational barrier expanded, protecting the group from the incoming sand barrage.
As the dust settled, Sasuke laughed arrogantly.
"Naruto, what do you think? My ability to control Tailed Beasts is no weaker than yours."
Naruto narrowed his eyes. He realized Sasuke was indirectly referring to Kurama.
Inside Killer Bee, Gyūki spoke up. "Bee, let me speak to Naruto!"
Bee nodded and approached Naruto. The two exchanged a few moves as cover.
Gyūki: "Naruto, all seven Jinchūriki have both the Rinnegan and the Sharingan. With the Sharingan, they can anticipate our every move. It's a miracle you managed to take one down with Sage Mode.
But now, their power is on another level. Their shared field of vision gives them tactical superiority. And the one commanding them—Sasuke—has perfected both ocular powers and has yet to truly engage.
If we can't find a weakness, these Reanimated bodies will wear us down."
Naruto nodded. "Yeah, I know. The solution is simple—take them out one by one, find the chakra black rods controlling them, and pull them out."
Gyūki was stunned. He didn't know that. In Naruto's past life, he had fought Nagato and discovered the black receivers. But since Nagato never attacked Konoha in this life, that knowledge hadn't spread.
Obito stepped forward. "Naruto, stop resisting. Just hand over the Eight and Nine Tails.
Why do you reject the Eye of the Moon Plan? I can give you a world where your childhood was happy. Where your parents are alive. Where I, too, would appear in your life when needed.
Isn't that what you always wanted?
You want to be Hokage? In that dream world, you will be. A perfect world with no hatred, no war."
Naruto sneered. "I've been in that world before. It's fake and hollow."
In his past life, Obito had trapped Naruto in the Infinite Tsukuyomi world. There, he was known as Menma, and his parents were alive. It felt too perfect, too artificial.
"I'm not Menma. I'm Naruto Uzumaki," he had declared.
Obito narrowed his eyes. "What's so bad about something fake, if it removes all regrets? This world isn't worth clinging to."
Naruto countered coldly, "You might be right. If all regrets could be erased, I might have supported the Moon Eye Plan. But who says that plan isn't the biggest lie of all?"
Obito's expression tightened. "What do you mean?"
"If you want to know, give me the seven Tailed Beasts. I'll show you the truth."
"Foolish dreamer."
Sasuke drew his blade, irritated. "Why are you even entertaining this idiot's nonsense!"
With a shout, Sasuke lunged.
Suigetsu sighed. "It's starting, huh?"
Jūgo nodded. "Let's wait and see. If Sasuke needs help, we move."
Suigetsu eyed Orochimaru suspiciously. The older man just kept grinning at him. "Definitely up to no good," Suigetsu muttered.
Karin began sensing chakra. "Naruto's chakra is insane. So is Gyūki's. Orochimaru's chakra… it's still ice cold."
Sasuke charged in with the seven Jinchūriki and clashed with Naruto.
Killer Bee quickly joined the fray, not wanting Naruto to get overwhelmed.
To his surprise, Naruto coordinated perfectly with him. It was as if they'd fought together countless times.
Only Bee's brother, the Fourth Raikage, had ever matched his rhythm like that.
He doesn't know that in Naruto's previous life, Bee had trained him in controlling Kurama's chakra. Their synergy came from experience that Bee no longer remembered.
Meanwhile, Minato flashed next to Obito.
"Obito, why? You were such a bright kid. How did you become this... this shell?"
"I have nothing to say to you, Minato-sensei."
Obito pulled out a long chain from his sleeve. He locked the end around his arm.
"This time, you won't get close to me!"
Minato's eyes narrowed. He remembered that chain from the night of the Nine Tails' attack.
Back then, he hadn't known Obito's identity. Now that he did, the emotional burden was heavier than any jutsu.
With a flick, Minato drew a kunai marked with his Flying Thunder God Formula.
"Come, Obito. I must stop you."
"Then let me finish what I started, sensei!"
Minato and Obito collided once more.
Back with Naruto, Killer Bee and Sasuke were in a furious melee.
"Oh yeah, sting like a bee! Kid, how do you like that?"
Sasuke gritted his teeth. This damn octopus had ruined his mission in Kumogakure.
He had even faked being captured, then slipped away to humiliate him further.
Obito had laughed about it for months.
"You damn octopus! I haven't forgotten Yunokagure Gorge!"
With a shout, Sasuke swung his sword. Last time, Bee had outclassed him. Not again.
Whoosh!
Bee got behind him. "OK, you didn't see me! Time to get KO'd, bro!"
Clang!
His stinger bounced off a skeletal ribcage. Sasuke had activated Susanoo.
Bee blinked. "Huh?"
Sasuke retaliated with a backward slash, forcing Bee to retreat.
"I'm not the weakling you fought back then! Nothing escapes my Sharingan anymore!"
He surged forward, Susanoo armor forming around him, and attacked in a frenzy.
Bee frowned. Sasuke had clearly evolved.
Last time, his body couldn't keep up with Bee's speed.
But now?
Now Sasuke was matching him strike for strike.
This wasn't the same boy from Kumogakure. He had grown into a terrifying shinobi.
