Naruto: Reborn with the Template System

Chapter 187: Battle Royale

Utakata, the Jinchūriki of Six Tails, stood alone.

A tall, lean man with the aura of someone who just wanted peace. He longed for a quiet life, detached from the madness of the shinobi world.

But peace was a fantasy long dead.

During the era of Fourth Mizukage Yagura and his bloody reign, Utakata escaped from Kirigakure, unable to bear the violence and bloodshed. Since then, he'd wandered across the Shinobi world with no destination.

It had been two days since Guts found him.

Before that, Guts had not really appeared in front of Utakata, but followed him and waited until Pain's Six Paths appeared.

He also heard that the Five Tails Jinchūriki, Han of Rock Shinobi, had already been captured.

Then the next target was undoubtedly Six Tails. And Pain's Six Paths would come to capture it personally.

At the same time, Namikaze Minato used a Nin-Eagle to convey the news to Guts—along with the upcoming battle between Uchiha Sasuke and Uchiha Itachi.

Guts's attitude on that matter was clear: he had no intention of getting involved.

The result was already decided.

Although Itachi wasn't suffering from some fatal disease, he had still decided to die as a sinner in this battle.

This was something he had resolved when he personally raised his blade and slaughtered his clan six years ago.

What would Shisui do?

Last time they met in the Land of Rivers, Guts didn't ask.

Originally, Itachi had intended to use Shisui's Kotoamatsukami to change Sasuke's mind, guiding him toward the path of "guarding Konoha."

But now that Shisui was still alive, what would happen next depended entirely on his will.

At this moment, Guts's expression turned slightly playful.

He felt it.

They were finally here... Pain's Six Paths.

And just a few miles away from Guts's location, Utakata—dressed in a sky-blue bathrobe stood firm. He looked solemnly at the six figures in front of him and said:

"Are you guys the Akatsuki?"

Pain stepped forward and said, "You know of us? That saves us the trouble of introductions."

Utakata narrowed his eyes. "You've been stealing the tailed beasts from across the nations. From the beginning, I knew one day... you would come for me."

Pain smiled faintly. "It's good news for us that you didn't flee back to Mist Shinobi. After all, attacking a Shinobi village causes far too many unnecessary complications."

But Utakata wasn't in the mood for small talk. He moved first.

"Water Style: Strong Acid Foam!"

After forming hand signs, a large volume of corrosive foam burst forth from his bamboo pipe.

This was Six Tails—Saiken's—unique ninjutsu, capable of boiling things like sulfuric acid.

Utakata had merged it with his own Water Style to develop a unique Kekkei Genkai.

Like Four Tails Roshi, he couldn't completely control the power of full tailed-beast transformation, but he could amplify the strength of his jutsu through the tailed beast's chakra.

As the deadly bubbles floated through the air, Pain simply smiled coldly.

In the next moment, Gakidō (the Preta Path) moved to the front, spread his hands—and absorbed everything in an instant.

Utakata's pupils shrank.

Everyone who witnessed the Rinnegan's abilities for the first time reacted the same way.

"Do it," Tendo Pain said coldly.

The four Pains behind him pulled chakra black rods from their sleeves and charged straight at Utakata.

Not being good at taijutsu, Utakata hurriedly tried to retreat and form another ninjutsu.

"Water Style—"

"Universal Pull!"

Before the jutsu could complete, a powerful gravitational force dragged him toward Tendo Pain's open hand.

Not knowing the Rinnegan's abilities was fatal. Even most Kage-level shinobi would die if caught unprepared by the Six Paths of Pain.

Naruto only won by sheer dumb luck.

The entire fight took less than two minutes.

As dark chakra suddenly burst out from Utakata's body, the once-composed man turned into a monster—six tails flaring from his back, tentacles rising from his head, blood-red chakra enveloping him.

The eruption of power from his partial transformation instantly suppressed Pain's Six Paths.

Massive tremors rippled across the landscape. Even without using Observation Haki, Guts could tell how brutal the battle had become.

Suddenly, his expression shifted.

With a flick of his right index finger, he struck the soil to the side—a single blow that could pierce steel.

Five seconds later, a glutinous, white blob wriggled out of the hole in the ground.

White Zetsu.

"Tch. Just a clone," Guts muttered coldly. "Looks like I'll need to wrap this up soon."

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Shinobi World...

At the northwestern border of the Land of Fire—

Kakashi's team, Might Guy's team, and more than a dozen elite squads made up of Sasuke's former classmates and instructors were quickly closing in on the battlefield between Sasuke and Itachi.

According to intelligence from Namikaze Minato...

Itachi had likely chosen an old Uchiha Clan stronghold as the location.

But just as they approached their destination—three figures suddenly blocked their path.

Sasori of the Red Sand.

Deidara.

Hoshigaki Kisame.

"Be careful, everyone! It's Akatsuki—they're all strong!" Kakashi raised his hand to stop the group, instantly on high alert.

"Sorry," Kisame said as he hoisted his massive sword, "but I can't let you interfere with Mr. Itachi's business. This is a battle between brothers."

"Tch, what a boring task."

"Now then, who here is worthy of becoming part of my collection?"

Deidara and Sasori moved into fighting stances.

Although they were worried about Sasuke's situation, Naruto and the others couldn't afford to drop their guard.

Against three Kage-level enemies... it wasn't impossible for their entire group to be wiped out.

Meanwhile, within the remains of the old Uchiha base...

Sasuke had arrived according to Itachi's instructions.

And from a distance watching in silence... stood Shisui, Obito, and Zetsu.

"Are you really not going to interfere, Shisui?" Obito asked, glancing sideways.

"I said I don't want to answer again," Shisui replied flatly. "And I'm not in the mood. Don't test me, Madara."

Shisui's usual cheer was completely gone. His tone was cold—tinged with killing intent.

Beneath his mask, Obito sneered.

Truthfully, even he didn't want to openly fall out with Itachi.

That guy's Mangekyō abilities were no joke—not inferior to his own Kamui.

"Hmm... Lord Madara, something's gone wrong," White Zetsu suddenly reported.
