Naruto: Reborn with the Template System

Chapter 191: Obito's Sneak Attack

Truth be told, Guts was actually in a bad mood now... he had been taken advantage of due to just a moment of carelessness.

He decided...he was going to kill Obito this time. After perceiving the location, he vanished in red lightning, tearing across the path with destructive force, leveling everything in his way.

"Let go of Nagato!" Konan roared loudly.

At this moment, her body looked like it was made of paper. Endless white sheets formed a pair of massive wings on her back, just like her nickname in Rain Village—Angel.

However, such an attack wasn't enough to threaten Obito's Kamui.

Black and White Zetsu had already left with the Six Tails' Jinchūriki, Utakata.

Obito had one hand pressed on Nagato's shoulder.

If Pain's Six Paths were still active, he wouldn't have acted like this. In all honesty, he had already predicted Nagato's downfall.

And Guts's behavior was undoubtedly a huge help in making Nagato so vulnerable.

In the face of Konan's fury, Obito remained completely unfazed, activating Kamui and beginning to absorb the already Chakra-depleted Nagato.

"Nagato!!"

Konan screamed, then gritted her teeth and shouted, "Madara, you bastard!"

Her right hand raised high, and the endless white paper around her folded into a massive spear.

"Paper Style — Paper Spear!!!"

The white spear tore through the air, smashing the rocks behind it.

But Obito's body was like an illusion. No matter the attack, it simply passed through him, harmless.

Bang!!!

Suddenly, a red lightning shadow flashed behind Obito, exploding the air.

From the gunpowder smoke, Guts walked out slowly, frowning.

"Am I still a step late?"

He saw Konan but not Nagato.

With Nagato's chakra gone and Obito's appearance here, Guts already pieced it together.

But he hadn't expected Obito to move this quickly, to actually attack Nagato first.

Konan looked solemn. She didn't know if Guts was an enemy or ally anymore.

Guts had originally planned to take this opportunity to destroy Nagato after all, Rinnegan was Madara's ultimate weapon. Without it, none of these events would've happened.

Unexpectedly, Obito had the same idea... and got to it first.

"You really are getting stronger... but it's a pity... you're still late. I win," Obito said, pride in his cold tone.

"Now that's interesting... you just got your hands on the Rinnegan and already started talking big?" Guts grinned.

If, after the Third Ninja War, he and Obito had any lingering bond

Then the Nine Tails incident burned it all away.

Guts knew it in his heart: Obito wanted to kill him. After what he did to Minato and Kushina, there was no doubt. Guts had added Obito to his kill list a long time ago.

"Hehe, looking forward to fighting you... next time."

The Rinnegan wasn't installed yet. Obito knew better than to provoke Guts now.

Leaving only those words, he activated Kamui to escape.

"Hmph!! You're slightly mistaken about something... there won't be a next time for you."

Guts snorted and charged.

He still remembered Kamui's fatal weakness: during teleportation, Obito's body wasn't intangible.

And transferring oneself took longer than transferring others.

A huge flaw.

"Does he know Kamui's weakness?"

Seeing Guts rushing toward him without hesitation, Obito's heart tightened.

He muttered in a whisper only he could hear, "But do you think I don't have a way to counter that?"

Obito knew his combat strength couldn't compare but he had plans.

Right before Guts's fist, coated in Conqueror's Haki, landed, Obito phased out the powerful impact destroying the surrounding terrain, but not him.

Guts struck air... and scowled.

Kamui again.

If it were just a regular intangibility technique, Guts's Conqueror's Haki would've nullified it.

It's like Gojo Satoru's infamous Infinity. If Guts were up against him, he could nullify that Limitless Technique, the one that keeps everything away by creating infinite distance between them.

Why? Because Gojo Satoru is still in the same space as him.

But Obito is different. It's like trying to use Conqueror's Haki on Earth while the guy you want to hit is chilling on the moon... there's no way it can reach across different space-times.

Still, Guts knew the timer—five minutes.

He raised a brow, activated advanced Observation Haki, and rushed again.

"Damn it!" Obito cursed in a low, frustrated tone. This guy really knew his ability well.

He canceled the teleport and instead used Kamui's intangibility while running but Guts locked onto him.

Bang! Boom!

The surroundings shattered under each of Guts's punches. Obito was sweating now. He knew...if even one of those punches landed, it was over.

Finally, Obito panicked. He tried to teleport—

But Guts had already foreseen that with Future Sight.

He grinned.

And just as Obito was about to disappear—

Guts appeared in front of him, that same grin wide on his face.

He grabbed Obito by the face, mask and all, hand covered in advanced Conqueror's Haki, completely nullifying Kamui.

"Got you."

"Blue Hole!"

BOOM!

Obito, yanked out of Kamui, was slammed into the earth with brutal force.

Konan, watching from afar, stared at the massive crater in front of her... unable to even see its bottom.

Speechless.

Crack. Crackling.

The surrounding terrain fractured under the lingering pressure of Conqueror's Haki.

Guts landed calmly... but frowned.

No system prompt?

Just then, Obito appeared again—faint, illusion-like, breathing hard, face twisted in rage behind the mask.

Izanagi.

The life-saving forbidden Jutsu at the cost of one's eye—set in advance to activate after death.

He hadn't expected to actually use it. Not like this. Not so humiliating.

"Izanagi... huh?"

Guts raised a brow. Yeah, he should've guessed this guy had that in his back pocket.

"You... I have to say, you really pulled one over me..." Obito said, trying to stay composed, his single Sharingan glaring at Guts.

"But... I promise, I'll return this defeat tenfold in the future. Be sure to wait for that moment..." Then he activated Kamui again, retreating in his illusion-state.

"You really know how to talk big... look at you, running away like a coward."

Guts taunted, knowing Obito could still hear him.

Obito's face twisted, but he didn't say another word. He vanished into Kamui space.
