The heads of the Nara and Inuzuka clans arrived at the Hokage's office.

When they learned that Tsunade planned to introduce a livestock farming industry to the village, they were a bit bewildered.

After all, Konoha is a ninja village, and getting into the livestock business…?

However, with the favorable climate of the Land of Fire, plus Konoha's prime location, a livestock industry actually had some promise. It might even bring in considerable income for the village.

But why were they being called for this? Surely, Tsunade didn't expect them to handle the farming, did she?

Faced with their hesitation, Tsunade went straight to playing the sympathy card, bringing up the village's financial struggles and current difficulties.

The two clan heads had nothing to say.

The village was going through hard times; it wouldn't be right to refuse to help.

Especially when the Hokage personally requested it. Refusing would be like asking for trouble.

Pressed by the circumstances, the two clan heads finally agreed to assist the village in setting up the livestock industry, offering some of their clansmen to manage and oversee the farming.

The Nara clan would handle the breeding and management side.

As for grazing the cattle and sheep and ensuring their safety, that would be the Inuzuka clan's responsibility. With their ninja dogs, it would be almost impossible for the livestock to stray.

As for wild animals attempting to attack the livestock, they wouldn't stand a chance.

After some discussion, the two clan heads were surprised to realize that, with the village's resources used effectively, a livestock industry was indeed feasible for Konoha.

With some perseverance, the livestock industry might even become one of Konoha's major economic pillars.

While it might not sound great for Konoha's ninja to get involved in farming, if it meant utilizing resources wisely, who cared? It wasn't like Konoha would lose anything.

It was all for the money—nothing shameful in that.

"You brat, and you still think you're going to make captain? Dream on!!"

Tsunade, already tasting success, wished she could take a peek inside Kazuki's head to see how he got to be so clever.

No matter the task, he managed to contribute something worthwhile—unlike a certain other person.

"Achoo!!"

At the barbecue shop, Kazuki sneezed just as he was finishing his meal and preparing to pay.

"Who's talking about me?"

Scratching his nose in confusion, he paid the bill and walked along the street. Since it was still early, he decided to stop by the hot springs.

Konoha's prison was underground, gloomy and poorly ventilated, with a strange odor. Spending too much time there left an unpleasant smell.

Since he was out, he figured it was a good time to relax.

While leisurely making his way to the hot spring inn, Kazuki found himself wandering off to the quieter outskirts of the village.

Who dresses like that?

Noticing a tall, slender woman with long hair in an unusual outfit up ahead, he couldn't help but mentally comment on her strange clothing.

Especially that enormous purple bow on her waist—it was hard on the eyes.

Wait!!

A purple rope bow, and a taller-than-average height…that practically gave away her identity.

Kazuki was certain that almost no one in Konoha would dress like that.

Orochimaru?

Kazuki's heart skipped a beat as he squinted and called out.

"On official police business! The person in front, please stop and cooperate with an investigation."

The figure in front of him halted and slowly turned around.

"Damn!"

Recognizing the face, Kazuki couldn't help but curse.

Just my luck—he'd been waiting for Tobi, but ran into Orochimaru instead!

Orochimaru was here, casually strolling through the village in his outlandish outfit as if nothing was wrong.

And the Anbu knew nothing about it.

Considering Orochimaru's disguising skills and his knowledge of Anbu entry and exit points, it would indeed be hard for them to detect his presence.

If Kazuki hadn't spotted that bizarre outfit, he wouldn't have remembered Orochimaru at all.

But it was really him.

"Is that you, Uchiha Kazuki?"

Turning to face him, Orochimaru eyed Kazuki from a distance, his snake-like pupils filled with curiosity and a hint of excitement, a slight smile on his lips. At least he hadn't stuck out his long tongue, or the sight would've been even more disturbing.

"I never expected a member of the Sannin like you to recognize me."

As Kazuki approached, Orochimaru didn't flinch; in fact, he seemed even more amused.

"I've done my homework. You've contributed quite a bit to your clan and the village, so I collected a fair bit of information about you."

"So, Orochimaru, why did a Konoha rogue ninja sneak back into the village?"

Kazuki stopped about five meters from Orochimaru.

"I heard some unpleasant news and decided to take a look. Unfortunately, the person I was looking for has been imprisoned."

Orochimaru was calm, chatting with Kazuki as if they were old friends, though this was their first actual meeting.

"So you came back to see Danzo?"

"Perhaps."

Orochimaru chuckled, his gaze fixated on Kazuki, especially on his eyes, with an almost predatory interest.

He'd never suffered a loss in a fight and seemed to view Kazuki as just another Uchiha.

He was very assertive, staring straight into Kazuki's eyes, unconcerned about any risks.

In the original story, Orochimaru had paid for this carelessness when he fell into Itachi's genjutsu, losing an arm in the process.

"You…"

Kazuki lowered his guard slightly, crossing his arms and speaking confidently.

"Are interested in my eyes?"

"Oh, I am indeed."

Orochimaru's grin grew wider as he seemed to imagine something thrilling, even sticking out his long tongue.

He had always wanted to target the Uchiha clan, even considering going after Fugaku Uchiha himself.

But he hadn't found the right opportunity.

He needed to study the difference between the three-tomoe Sharingan and the regular one.

But before he could make a move, Danzo had provided what he needed.

Unfortunately, they'd come from dead bodies, soaked in preservative solutions for who knows how long. What he really needed were fresh specimens.

Five meters—close enough for a strong ninja to launch a deadly attack.

Orochimaru was smiling, mocking Kazuki's confidence for daring to stand so close to him, a venomous snake.

He also sneered at Kazuki's ignorance and fearlessness.

"So…"

Orochimaru's pupils suddenly widened into circles.

"Why don't you lend me your eyes for my research, Kazuki-kun?"

Five meters away, Orochimaru suddenly launched an attack, thick serpents lunging at Kazuki with open jaws.

"You…"

Kazuki looked at his bound hands in shock.

"Why?"

"Because…"

Thud!!

Orochimaru's heart gave a sudden, intense throb, as if an unseen hand had reached into his chest and squeezed.
