Naruto: Spiral Into The Darkness

Chapter 1: Betrayal Of The Will Of Fire

In the midst of the commotion during Pain's attack on the Hidden Leaf Village, Naruto was summoned back from Mount Myoboku as their last hope. Having mastered Sage Mode, he was determined to put an end to the destruction, his heart heavy with the weight of his responsibility.

As he arrived on the battlefield, Lady Katsuyu provided him with crucial intel on Pain's abilities and weaknesses. With this knowledge, Naruto charged forward, his frog summons from Mount Myoboku and Master Fukasaku by his side. The battle raged on, with Naruto and his allies taking on the six Pains.

Despite being vastly outnumbered, Naruto's mastery of Sage Mode and his determination to protect his village gave him an edge. He fought with every ounce of strength he possessed, his movements a blur as he clashed with the Pains. But with each blow, he felt the weight of his exhaustion growing, his breath coming in ragged gasps.

After a fierce and intense fight, Naruto managed to defeat five of the Pains, leaving only the Deva Path remaining. Pain commended Naruto, acknowledging that he was the first to ever push him that far. A glimmer of pride flickered in Naruto's chest, but it was quickly extinguished by the crushing reality of his situation.

Pain's Deva Path proved to be a formidable opponent, quickly dispatching the giant toads and gaining the upper hand. Fukasaku fell victim to Pain's ruthless attack, and Naruto was left immobilized by Pain's gravity manipulation technique. A wave of grief washed over Naruto as he watched Fukasaku's lifeless body slump to the ground.

As Pain pinned him to the ground with his Chakra Disruption Blades, Naruto asked why he had done everything. Pain's response sent a chill down Naruto's spine: "The world can never have the peace Jiraiya fought for because the world is too full of hatred... The only way to create world peace is through force."

Naruto's thoughts flashed back to his childhood, to the memories of being ostracized and feared by the very people he wanted to protect. He recalled the pain of being called a demon child and the weight of having the Nine-Tails sealed inside him. A deep-seated anger and resentment simmered in his chest, threatening to boil over.

With a newfound sense of determination, Naruto proposed a deal to Pain: he would join the Akatsuki instead of having the Nine-Tails extracted from him. In return, he asked that they help him master the Nine-Tails' power, and he would aid them in putting their plan into action.

Pain's expression changed from surprise to intrigue, and he asked Naruto why he wanted to join the Akatsuki. Naruto's response was laced with a mix of emotions: "Because of the Nine-Tails inside me, the village seeks to exploit my power... They don't see me as an equal shinobi."

A hint of desperation crept into Naruto's voice, and Pain's gaze lingered on his face, searching for any sign of deception. After a moment, he nodded. "Very well, Naruto Uzumaki... I accept your proposal. But remember, if you betray me, I will finish what I started."

With those words, Pain freed Naruto, and together they set out on a new path, one that would change the course of Naruto's life forever. A sense of trepidation settled in the pit of Naruto's stomach as he walked alongside Pain, the weight of his decision hanging over him like a specter.

As the dust settled on the battlefield, Hinata's eyes scanned the horizon, her heart racing with every passing moment. She sensed Naruto's chakra growing faint, and a wave of worry washed over her. Had he been defeated?

Stubborn determination etched on her face, Hinata steeled herself to help Naruto, no matter the cost. She had always looked up to him, the one person who had believed in her as a ninja, who had seen beyond her timid exterior to the strength within.

As she set out to find Naruto, Hinata's thoughts turned to the unspoken feelings she had harbored for so long. She wanted Naruto to know that she had adopted his ninja way, his unwavering dedication to his friends and village. And she wanted him to know that she loved him, with every fiber of her being.

But as the dust cleared, Hinata's eyes widened in shock. Naruto was nowhere to be found on the battlefield, and neither was Pain. A cold dread crept up her spine as she feared the worst: Naruto might have been captured.

"Naruto-kun," Hinata whispered, her voice trembling with emotion. "I know you did your best. You showed up for us at a crucial time. It doesn't matter how the battle panned out, but I'll save you this time, just like you saved me back then."

Memories flooded Hinata's mind, memories of a childhood incident when three boys had bullied her, and Naruto had appeared out of nowhere, his bright smile and fearless attitude chasing the bullies away. She recalled the way he had looked at her, with kindness and compassion, and how that moment had changed her life forever.

With renewed determination, Hinata set out to find Naruto, to save him from whatever fate had befallen him. She would not rest until he was safe, until he was back by her side.

Unbeknownst to Hinata, Naruto had made a decision that contradicted his Ninja way by joining forces with the Akatsuki. As Pain and Naruto stood outside the village, the crisp evening air carried the faint scent of smoke and ash. Naruto's senses picked up on a familiar chakra signature, and his eyes scanned the horizon, his gaze piercing through the fading light.

"We're being followed," Naruto warned Pain, his voice low and urgent. "I can feel that person's chakra." A shiver ran down his spine as he sensed the familiar presence drawing closer.

Pain's expression turned calculating, his eyes narrowing into slits. "So, Uzumaki Naruto, what do you propose? Do we take her out and avoid her? I'd recommend the former." His voice was devoid of emotion, but Naruto detected a hint of curiosity beneath the surface. "The moment you chose to join the Akatsuki, you severed ties with your village and comrades. I don't care how much this person means to you, but we can't risk anything. I'll take her out, Naruto."

Naruto's eyes widened in alarm, his heart racing with a mix of fear and adrenaline. "No, wait, Pain! I'll do it. I'll take care of her myself." His voice was firm, but a hint of desperation crept into his tone.

Pain's gaze turned skeptical, his eyes boring into Naruto's soul. "You're not mentally prepared for that, Naruto. You've just betrayed your people, and now you think you can face one of them without feeling guilty?" His voice was laced with a hint of disdain. "Guilt is a hindrance, Naruto. It'll prevent you from taking the necessary steps. Let me handle it."

Naruto's jaw clenched, his eyes burning with determination. A wave of emotions washed over him - guilt, shame, and a deep-seated sense of betrayal. He thought of Jiraiya-sensei, of the promise he had made to avenge his master's death. He thought of Hinata, of the friendship they had shared, and the unspoken feelings that lingered between them.

"Pain, please... I offered to join the Akatsuki, to offer you my power. It may not align with your original plan, but I made a compromise to assist you." Naruto's voice cracked with emotion, his words tumbling out in a desperate bid to convince Pain. "The Akatsuki, a group I've hated for so long, a group I planned to destroy... I'm betraying a promise I made to Jiraiya-sensei, I'm betraying the promise I made to myself to avenge my master, whom you killed. Please, let me handle this one, Pain."

Pain's expression remained impassive, but a hint of curiosity flickered in his eyes. He studied Naruto's face, searching for any sign of weakness or deception. After a moment, he nodded, his voice dripping with an air of detachment. "Mhmm... Okay, then, Naruto Uzumaki. I'll take your word for this one."

As Pain's words hung in the air, Naruto felt a sense of trepidation wash over him. He knew that he had just crossed a threshold, one that would change the course of his life forever. The weight of his decision settled heavy on his shoulders, threatening to crush him beneath its burden.
