Naruto's God-level System

Chapter 6: Chapter 6: A Welcome Present

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

The next morning.

Akira woke up from his bed, a smug expression on his face.

Of course, he hadn't done anything—if the Third Hokage came asking in person, he'd answer the same way.

Anko wasn't in the room.

The sound of clinking utensils echoed from the kitchen.

"This little girl is up early," Akira thought, knowing that Anko was preparing breakfast. Ninja duties start early, so it wasn't a surprise that she was already busy.

He stretched lazily and got out of bed. Outside, the rain was coming down in torrents.

"I wonder if it was raining this heavily when Yuu Xun and Yun Hai parted ways," Akira mused as he walked over to the window. There were several figures standing outside, which made him pause.

Akira knew those were the Third Hokage's watchers. Despite allowing him a few days of freedom in Konoha, the Hokage clearly didn't trust him yet. Hence, Jonin had been sent to keep an eye on him.

"Interesting. This monkey is quite thorough in his methods," Akira muttered under his breath.

The Third Hokage's nickname was "Monkey."

He walked into the living room, and the fragrant scent of food hit him immediately.

Anko was indeed making breakfast.

"After you finish eating, you better leave. If you keep delaying me, my wallet will be drained. If you don't want to starve, go bother someone else!" Anko glared at him angrily. Akira flushed and avoided her gaze.

The two hadn't done anything inappropriate the previous night. They'd simply shared a bed because Anko's place only had one room.

She was still a little girl, and clearly, she couldn't handle the situation well, so she avoided looking at Akira altogether.

"Understood," Akira replied lazily.

In truth, this entire situation was of his own making.

The previous night, he'd eaten more than a few bowls of ramen, leaving Anko's wallet completely empty.

Of course, the ramen at Yile's restaurant had been delicious, and Akira still couldn't stop thinking about it.

"I really need to find some ways to earn money today," Akira sighed.

He never thought that money would still be an issue even after traveling to this world.

Ding dong!

Just then, Akira's system notification chimed.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

[In response to the host's current needs, a side mission is now available.'

[Mission objective: Earn your first pot of gold]

[Reward]: A random C-level ninjutsu.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Another low-level task," Akira mused.

He had a feeling that the more dangerous tasks offered better rewards, while these simple daily tasks just yielded basic ninjutsu.

Akira felt a bit helpless.

But based on his experience in the modern world, people who lived long lives weren't the ones constantly seeking out danger. Risk doesn't always equal opportunity.

He pondered for a moment.

"Instead of relying solely on missions for rewards, I could learn from masters who have god-level missions."

Apprenticeship was definitely an option.

Akira wasn't sure about his talent, but he knew he needed to make money right now.

After helping Anko clean up the dishes, he left on his own.

The streets of Konohagakure were unusually quiet. A few timid eyes watched him, and Akira knew these were Konoha Shinobi tasked with keeping an eye on him.

"Looks like there are quite a few of them," Akira thought to himself.

Just as he was about to head over to Yile Ramen to check if they were hiring, a cold, unsettling sensation crept down the back of his neck.

"Killing intent!"

Akira immediately sensed the threat.

As a Jonin, he was always alert.

The killing intent was strong and unmistakable, but Akira couldn't figure out who would want to target him, especially this soon after arriving in Konoha.

So far, his only enemy was Orochimaru, but the snake was notoriously cautious. It didn't make sense that someone close to Orochimaru would be seeking revenge, so the source of the killing intent had to be someone else.

Akira suddenly realized who it could be.

Danzo.

If anyone in Konoha was going to have a grudge against him, it was Danzo.

Danzo was the darkness lurking behind Konoha's leadership.

In this era, Danzo's Anbu was at its most active, and although Sarutobi Hiruzen ruled on the surface, Danzo had been responsible for many significant acts in Konoha's history.

For example, he had a hand in manipulating Uchiha Itachi, plotting against Uchiha Shisui, and even the Uchiha massacre was tied to him.

Akira didn't know how to view Danzo. Most people despised him, but there were also some who admired his dedication to Konoha.

"If it's really him, this could get ugly," Akira realized. His presence in Konoha might have triggered a crisis for Danzo, so he quickly changed direction to distance himself from the killing intent.

However, how could he escape in a place like Konohagakure?

In a quiet alleyway, Akira was suddenly confronted by several Jonin in Anbu uniforms.

"One, two, three… seven? Looks like Danzo is paying me a lot of attention," Akira smirked, sizing up the Anbu surrounding him.

"Is it just you seven? Heh, if you're all looking for trouble, I won't stop you."

Akira spoke confidently. Despite the numbers, he knew that without a full chakra reserve, he wouldn't be able to defeat all seven opponents.

"Haha! Little brother Akira is joking. You're our guest in Konohagakure, why would we attack you?"

A muscular, short-haired man stepped forward from the group.

Akira recognized him immediately—Danzo.

At this point, Danzo hadn't yet transplanted the Sharingan, and he wasn't covered in bandages.

"Your ninjutsu is impressive, Akira," Danzo said. "You even managed to seriously injure someone like Orochimaru. But since you're here in our village, you must follow Konoha's rules. We simply need to investigate your situation."

Danzo's voice grew louder, which took Akira by surprise.

It wasn't that the volume made Danzo more imposing—Akira was just irritated by the theatrics.

"No wonder Sarutobi Hiruzen became Hokage and not you, Shimura Danzo. You certainly know how to make your voice heard," Akira said with a smirk.

"What did you say?" Danzo's temper flared immediately.

He signaled to the Anbu around him, and they moved to attack Akira.

This was exactly what Akira wanted.

He knew that scaring Danzo alone wouldn't work. He needed to show his true strength to make sure Danzo didn't try anything foolish.

He couldn't afford to be poisoned in the middle of the night.

"Let's see how you handle this!"

Akira's eyes gleamed as the Anbu closed in.
