Naruto:The System's Shadow

Chapter 21: The Uchiha Shrine

After the meeting adjourned, Kaito and Madara left the meeting hall together, heading towards the shrine. The Uchiha clan's ninjutsu, B-rank and below, were kept in the ninjutsu tower, while only A-rank and S-rank ninjutsu were stored in the basement of the shrine, guarded by a dedicated person.

Soon, the two entered the shrine, went around to the back, and opened the secret passage leading to the basement, entering one after the other.

The basement of the Uchiha shrine was very large. It was Kaito's first time down there, and he couldn't help but look around.

A black figure appeared with a "whoosh," shrouded in a black robe, making it impossible to tell their age or appearance.

"Are you Young Master Madara and Young Master Kaito? The clan leader has given instructions. Please follow me!" The black-robed person's voice was strange, sounding like each word was being forced out, making it impossible to determine their gender.

After several twists and turns, the black-robed person led the two to a stone door. They reached out and tapped the third brick on the right side of the stone door three times. The stone door opened automatically, revealing a pitch-black space where nothing could be seen.

"This is it. Please enter on your own, young masters. You can only choose one A-rank ninjutsu. The S-rank ninjutsu all have sealing techniques, and you cannot open them without the mark." After saying that, the black-robed person took a step back, disappearing into the shadows.

"Let's go in, Kaito!"

Madara called out to him and took the lead in stepping through the stone door. Kaito quickly followed.

*Boom, boom, boom!*

As soon as the two stepped inside, the stone lamps on the walls lit up automatically, illuminating the entire stone room. The light was not too bright but was enough to read the scrolls.

Uchiha Madara seemed to know his way around, going straight to select the scrolls one by one, saying as he picked, "These are all A-rank ninjutsu. The S-rank ones are over there, but they all have seals and cannot be opened." He pointed to the end of the room, where several high platforms were placed, each with a scroll faintly visible.

Seeing Madara's familiarity, Kaito asked, "Have you been here before?"

Madara didn't turn his head, "I learned my Dragon Flame Release Song technique here."

Kaito tilted his head and glanced at him, probing, "Did you sneak in?"

How did you know?

Uchiha Madara paused but then resumed his nonchalant demeanor, snorting coldly and not answering.

Kaito chuckled. He knew he had guessed correctly.

He examined the scrolls in front of him one by one. A-rank ninjutsu were treasures in all clans. Even for the Uchiha clan, a large clan, there weren't many.

Kaito roughly estimated that there were about ten scrolls on his shelf. There were a total of less than four rows here, meaning that the entire Uchiha clan had about forty A-rank ninjutsu. As for the S-rank ones, there were even fewer. He had glanced at them earlier and saw nine high platforms.

"Great Fire Annihilation, Great Fire Destruction, Dragon Flame Release Song, Dust Concealment, Infinite Great Fire Eruption..."

It was clear that the entire row where Kaito was standing was full of Fire Style ninjutsu. In fact, most of the ninjutsu here were Fire Style, with some Lightning Style, and very few others.

After all, the Uchiha clan's main affinity was Fire, with a small number of clan members awakening Lightning Style. Other attributes were rare.

For example, Kaito only had a single Fire attribute, while Uchiha Madara had both Fire and Lightning attributes.

"I want them all! Even if some are not useful after learning them, selling them to that pitiless system would get me a lot of points!" Looking at these scrolls, Kaito's mouth was almost watering.

"I already have Rasengan for single-target attacks, Crow Clone for survival, Flying Thunder God for movement, and the Sharingan's genjutsu. All that's missing is a large-scale, area-of-effect ninjutsu to complete the set."

Thinking this, Kaito didn't hesitate to pick up Great Fire Annihilation. He remembered that Madara had used this Fire Style technique when he first appeared in the original story, and it was incredibly domineering, requiring dozens of ninjas using Water Style to barely withstand it.

Activating his Sharingan, the three tomoe slowly rotated, memorizing all the words on the scroll. The Sharingan had an automatic memory function, and Great Fire Annihilation was memorized without much effort.

Kaito returned the scroll to its original place and picked up Great Fire Destruction next to it, chuckling to himself, "You said I could only choose one, but the Sharingan has such a powerful memory ability. I'd be a fool not to use it."

Thinking this, he opened the scroll, and the result...

"What the hell? Why is this scroll completely blank!" Kaito shouted loudly.

Uchiha Madara, who was not far away from him, revealed a gloating smile and laughed loudly, "Haha, idiot! Did you think everyone else was stupid? If you think about it, if the ninjutsu here could be viewed so easily, how could I have only learned Dragon Flame Release Song last time? Haha, you're killing me!"

Kaito's face turned black. This guy was definitely doing it on purpose. On the surface, he was aloof, but in reality, he was a *tsundere*. He was definitely watching him the whole time, waiting to see him make a fool of himself, and then mock him. He deserved to be dominated by Hashirama Senju for the rest of his life.

He angrily returned the scroll to its original place, silently cursing Madara, and then turned to leave. You can stay here and look at them until you die!

Leaving the shrine, he looked at the sky and saw that it was already late. If he wanted to go to the Fujiwara Mine today, he would have to travel overnight, and he definitely wouldn't do that.

Returning to his room, a fragrant aroma wafted towards him. He saw that the table in the living room was already filled with food, and the fragrant aroma was coming from it. Chiya Hotaru, who was only six years old, was busy running back and forth.

"Ah, Lord Kaito, you're back!"

The little maid noticed Kaito and quickly put down the soup in her hands, bowing to Kaito.

Kaito smiled and nodded, sitting down at the table. The little maid thoughtfully scooped a bowl of rice and placed it in front of him.

"In the future, you don't have to be so formal at home. Just relax," Kaito said, looking at her standing cautiously behind him. He smiled and tapped the table, "Sit down and eat together!"

Chiya Hotaru took a step back and shook her head softly, "That won't do. I am your servant. How can I be qualified to sit with you?"

Kaito shook his head inwardly, knowing that the concept of superiority and inferiority was strong in the Warring States Period, and it would probably be difficult to change her mind by talking. He pretended to be angry and said, "This is an order. Sit down and eat together."

Chiya Hotaru stopped speaking and sat down with her head lowered, silently scooping a bowl of rice for herself, looking at Kaito with an expression that looked like she was about to cry.

Kaito ignored her and just ate and drank on his own. He had to admit that the little maid's cooking was good.

During the quiet meal, Kaito felt an inexplicable sense of peace. In the past few years since he had transmigrated, he had always been alone in his room, and occasionally he would feel a sense of loneliness. Now that there was suddenly a little maid in the house, even though it hadn't been long, it had already brought some vitality, and it wasn't as lifeless as it had been when he was alone.

"This isn't bad..." Kaito thought to himself.

The little maid, seeing that Kaito was really just eating and not paying attention to her, quietly took a mouthful of rice. The feeling of eating with Lord Kaito was warm in her heart!
