Nightmare Assault

Chapter 413: Teammate

Fatty felt uncomfortable looking at the picture. He returned to the search for the rope. They should focus on that. He wondered how the Doctor was doing.

"There's no rope." Chu Jiu looked around and came back with scissors. "We should use the curtain. Let's not waste time."

Fatty was taller. He grabbed a chair. Chu Jiu was worried about Fatty making too much sound so she volunteered to remove the curtain while Fatty kept watch. Fatty held his breath. To prevent unnecessary accident, they switched off their lights.

There was some rustling. There was a soft thud. Then, Chu Jiu said, "Done." She whispered, "The rope is tied. Let's go."

"Can it really hold?" Fatty asked. He didn't want to fall.

"Don't worry."

Thankfully, the presence outside the door hadn't left. It also didn't attack them. Fatty shivered from the breeze. He checked the sturdiness of the rope. After all, this involved his and Chu Jiu's lives.

"You should go first." Fatty whispered, "I fear the rope might not hold me."

Chu Jiu gave a long sigh. "You should go first. Don't waste time. I'll watch the rope for you."

"Let's go." Chu Jiu, who should be behind Fatty, had her voice come from before him. "I'll lower the rope and send you down. I'll follow you…" She grabbed Fatty's hand and pulled him towards the balcony. The hand was soft and small. However, the problem was the glove. Fatty touched something that felt like lace. He instantly realised it was part of a wedding dress.

The real Chu Jiu probably had been killed. The thing before him was the ghost bride from the wedding picture!

This was bad…

As Fatty was led to the balcony, Fatty confirmed his thoughts. He could sense the environment around him but he couldn't detect Chu Jiu. It felt like she was wrapped in mist. It was very weird. No matter what angle he used, she looked ringed by light.

Chu Jiu twisted the curtain into a rope and threw it over the railing.

"Hurry up." Chu Jiu lowered her voice mysteriously. She glanced at the door. "The thing will be here soon."

Fatty didn't dare to show that he already knew the truth. He tried his best to play along with the ghost bride. At the same time, he figured out how the bride wanted to kill him. When he was climbing down the rope, she would cut off the rope so he'd fall to his death.

"Okay," Fatty answered. He glanced down the balcony. A plan slowly formed in his heart. Fatty placed his hands on the railing. His feet lifted off the ground.

"Be careful." He tried to distract the ghost bride. At the same time, he took out the flashlight and aimed it at her eyes. As expected, the person who stood before him was the bride from the picture. 𝑅𝘢𝐍Ö₿ЁꞨ

While the bride screamed, the front door opened. A dark figure charged in. He wore a suit. It was the groom from the wedding photo!

He was… Lu Huaxu!

Fatty didn't recognise him earlier because Lu Huaxu had been wearing a silk stocking on his head since they met. Therefore, Fatty couldn't recognise him in the wedding picture. However, at that moment, the man had put on the familiar stocking. The holes revealed murderous eyes. He wanted to make sure that everyone died with him.

While the light blinded the ghost bride, it also lit up the room. A small girl was hanged from the ceiling. The girl's eyes were open. Fear was evident in them. Her hands were frozen into claws. She was dead. It was Chu Jiu.

Fatty didn't have the time to mourn her. As the ghost bride tried to scratch him, he showcased surprising agility. He used the rope and leapt downstairs. Then, he grabbed the railing of the downstairs balcony tightly. With a grunt, he pulled himself up and disappeared into the room.

The footsteps upstairs instantly ran out. Fatty stomped on the ground symbolically. He made sure the ghosts could hear him. After the footsteps upstairs disappeared, he returned to the balcony. He used the same trick and jumped down another floor.

He pushed the front door open. When he noticed everything was normal, he silently walked out. At that moment, sounds of knocking and screaming came from upstairs. The ghost couple was demolishing the room upstairs to look for him.

This was Lu Huaxu's ghost story. Everyone who died in this mission would be made into a new story. This was a terrifying power. If they could not solve the mission, they would be continuously hunted down by their former teammates. That pressure was hard on one's psyche.

Fatty picked up his speed. Chu Jiu was dead. He didn't want to be pulled into her story. Based on what she said, only the Doctor, Banana Wolf and he were still alive.

Fatty tried to listen to Chu Jiu describe Wei Jingting, but it was a mess. He couldn't tell if he were a man or a ghost.

Fatty felt bad when he thought about Chu Jiu. She was probably hanged by the bribe when she stood on the chair to remove the curtains. The rustling sound he heard was probably Chu Jiu struggling. However, his attention was on the front door, so he didn't notice.

From the looks of things, Lu Huaxu stood outside the door to prevent them from escaping. Fatty felt conflicted. If he didn't pull Chu Jiu into the room, perhaps… she wouldn't have died.
