Chapter 71: Mucking About
While Theef was returning with the earth pigs in tow, he had met with Null and allowed the Allbeast to consume one of the piglets.
"Haha. This little guy reminds me of you a bit Theef."
"Well, no wonder I think the little thing is so cool," Theef said.
Its ability to consume and then transform its body was not too unlike how Theef's body adapted to the influence of the energy he absorbed. The Theif race was one that required the most suitable bodies to access the items they stole from others.
It seemed now to them that they could also shapeshift into other creatures they resonated with whenever there was a suitable energy to guide them through the process.
"Now that we got what we set off for, I guess we're heading back now. Maybe tomorrow we could find some other cattle beasts to catch." Null suggested.
"That's cool and all Null, but when do you think we could start planning on leaving this planet?" Theef asked with a sense of impatience.
"Oh. I hadn't realized you were itching to leave so soon," Null caught onto what his friend was saying and fell into a conundrum.
"Well, we can't just stay here mucking about in a tiny village forever. My ship was torn in half, but we can probably get Goldie to fix it with his gold powers and maybe we can find something like before to fuel it."
"Hold on a minute. I get you're not used to staying in place too long, but if you did, maybe you would find out more about how powerful you can be with a little insight."
"You know I don't do that shit. Gotta keep it movin' else you're a step away from remaining still forever in place."
"That's not how I see it. The more you run from the place you're in, the closer you are to leaving the place you belong."
At this time, they were nearing the gates.
"Whatever man," Theef had no retort.
As they arrived, the gates opened for them, and they let all of the beasts follow in.
"You actually managed! I don't know what to say." Meior met with them before a new area for beasts.
"No need for thanks. We just want this place good before we leave," Theef cut in.
"What do you mean? You're leaving already?" He was taken aback by Theef's sudden response.
"That's not what he meant! What he meant to say was we were going to look to check on his broken ship and see if there was something we could do about it."
"Yeah, yeah thats what I meant. Have you seen that kneeling Goldie around?"
"He should be in the bunker with Klein at the moment."
Theef nodded, heading for the bunker.
"If you don't mind me asking, could you help me with training with the mind mofei," Meior asked Null.
"Of course, Klein shouldn't be the only one here who can raise the pigs." He shuffled on over to where Meior was and held out his hand, "Just grab my hand and I'll do the main part."
Due to Meior being of the beast bloodline, he still had the inherent sense for the mofei and he was already adept at shifting its properties along to be able to form more of the complex mofei.
They were along the lines of magma, ice, lightning, poison, and swamp.
Disregarding light and dark, mind mofei was technically basic, but the range of abilities it provided were expansive.
Once Null stimulated his mind to be able to assimilate the mind mofei, he would be able to sense and manipulate it naturally.
And the whole process had occurred as smoothly as said when Meior grabbed Null's small hand; the mind mofei saturated his brain and began flowing through his mei veins like he was a natural mind manipulator.
"There you go. All you need to do-," he was cut off by Meior's sudden exclamation.
"That simple! This is beyond any manipulation I've seen!" He shook Null's hand profusely in thanks.
"Please, this is the final accomplishment that you will ever have to do for the people of this humble Meita Village. I promise as the village head."
"It's really not a problem. I'm more than willing to help any family of Klein's as if they were my own."
"I just have one ask, take Klein to my home city. He probably wouldn't leave the village unless you take him yourself. I don't wish for a bright spark like him to fizzle out like his father in some backwater village like this." Meior explained and ended in a deep sigh.
Null was very empathetic to such a final request, "The reason he won't leave is because you raised him well, can't you see that much."
"Of course I can, but regardless of how built up the village is, the city is already many times richer in resources and facilities. I need him to use them to his advantage while he is still unknown to be of beast origin."
He briefly indulged Null in the stories of powerful beasts mating with Imeni, "You see why I would be afraid to leave him like this, doing his best at improving what is already at its peak."
This time it was Null that was amazed, "Such a thing, just how is it possible that you were left to your own devices with such a powerful ancestor?"
"Unfortunately, the beasts that have their own sentience as humanoids look down on those closeminded Imeni who believe beast blood to be inferior. And as soon as one of their children are born from Imeni, they are soon separated from their beast parent and left to their own devices."
"It is unknown why the beast parents are not there to raise their children, but I've come around to a rumor stating that some children are born with both beast and Imeni features, thus shunned from both worlds entirely.
"I was lucky enough to only display my beast blood in my eye, but Klein was truly blessed to have both his eyes connected to his mei vein system as he awakened prematurely. Otherwise, when he awakened, he might have displayed more beast-like features, such as ears or a tail, even whiskers."
"I understand he isn't able to see properly and only has a sort of mofei sight that allows him to see clearly the mofei's movements and changes, is that correct," Null asked.
"Such is the truth. To be honest, I'm sure I passed down that trait to him, only my sight is not as strong as his and limited to only my right eye. Additionally, I awoke my mei veins normally, just a bit stronger than most children thanks to my bloodline."
"I'll go talk with him then. We'll all discuss travelling to this Meidiora City together," Null assured Meior.
"Then I will thank you in advance for your extensive help to the village."
"No problem. I've just been mucking about anyways. It's time to go to work."
