One Piece: As Portgas D. Ace

[Grand Line, New World, Sphinx Island, East Coast…]

Stretching my body this way and that, I was warming up at the moment.

At the end of the Summit War, the explosion generated from the collision of my and Blackbeard's attack had flung me higher in the air. I was able to stabilize my body in the air by releasing short bursts of flames from my hands and feet.

Right now, I was looking to expand on that move and achieve flight by continuously propelling gusts of flames from my limbs.

Just like Iron Man from Marvel.

If I could replicate the sound of the repulsors, that would be even better.

Heh~! Imagine some no-name, no-good pirates attacking an island under our protection. While they were thinking of retreating quickly after conducting a quick and clever raid, the sound of repulsors would reach them and then, I would land in their midst in classic superhero pose.

However, if I could achieve more than Mach speed with this technique, I would generate sonic booms that would make it difficult for anyone to hear the repulsor-like sounds.

Anyway, apart from me, there were also others some distance away, doing their own training.

Bonney, Law, and Urouge were training to awaken their Observation Haki awakening under Marco.

Kid, on the other hand, already took his crew and left after he got the training methods for the three types of Haki.

Initially, Jeanne wasn't keen on letting Bonney join the training with the others.

After being placed under Jeanne's care by Whitebeard, Bonney revealed her real age and Devil Fruit powers to Jeanne.

Knowing that Bonney was only a 10-year-old child, Jeanne's behavior changed from that of a superior to that of a big sister/mother towards Bonney.

This behavior was also reflected when Bonney decided to join Law and Urouge in their training to awaken Haki only for Jeanne to oppose her decision.

If asked, Jeanne would say that she didn't want Bonney's growth to be stunted because of harsh training. However, everyone knew that she was being overprotective of her new little sister/daughter.

Marco was the one who convinced Jeanne to allow Bonney to participate in the training, assuring her that he would ensure Bonney wouldn't overexert herself.

As the Head Doctor of the crew had spoken, Jeanne took a step back and only allowed Bonney to participate in Observation Haki awakening training.

In my opinion, Bonney should also undergo Armament Haki awakening training and stamina training.

Using her Devil Fruit powers, especially Distorted Future, Bonney could change herself so that her physical strength could easily surpass the requirement of learning Armament Haki.

Bonney's Devil Fruit is broken.

Once I increase my strength and skills to a sufficient degree, I will spend some time teaching Bonney how to exploit that brokenness.

Shaking my head, I discarded the distracting thoughts from my mind and focused.

Taking a deep breath, I stood straight with my hands at a small angle from my body.

Immediately afterward, flames shot out of my hands and feet in a concentrated manner.

The next second, I was shooting towards clouds at a high speed. It seems I miscalculated the force I could generate by shooting high-intensity flames from my limbs in the same direction.

In just about five seconds, I breached the first layer of clouds.

I had no intention of an adventure in space just yet. So, I quickly focused my attention on the current situation and slowly lowered the output of flames.

My speed started slowing down and eventually, I was able to reach an equilibrium that enabled me to hover in one place.

Taking a look around, I found my current position to be just above the highest point of the White Peak at the center of Sphinx Island.

The view from up here was simply marvelous.

I wonder if Marco frequently flies up here to enjoy the scenery and relax.

Shaking my head, I stopped sightseeing before reducing the output of flames by a small amount.

Gradually, I started descending and in just a few minutes, I reached a height of roughly a hundred meters above the ground level on the East Coast.

I stopped descending further, this height was optimal for practicing various maneuvers to control my flight.

[Two Hours Later…]

As I felt my stamina dipping below the one-third mark, I decided it was time to stop for the time being.

Additionally, I was feeling hungry.

Abruptly, I cut off the output of flames from my limbs, letting gravity do its work.

Boom—!

My landing stirred up the sand in the surrounding area, creating a smokescreen that obscured my figure.

I released flames indiscriminately from my body, blowing the sand particles away from me. Then, I proceeded to walk toward the area where Bonney and others were being trained.

A few moments later, I came across the scene of Bonney, Law, and Urouge's bodies being sprawled on the sandy ground.

Each of them was breathing heavily while being soaked in sweat, causing the sand to stick to their body.

"Alright! It's time for lunch break, yoi~." As he noticed me arriving, Marco took the opportunity to end their training for now.

As the three of them struggled to stand up, I came up beside Marco and asked, "How is it going?"

"They are good. At the rate they are going, I think they would be able to get the basics down in about four months."

Marco answered my question before he started walking toward the Sphinx Harbor in the distance and I fell in pace with him. His three students also followed behind us.

"Is that so? That means that five senses are close to the required level, right?"

Observation Haki was basically one's five senses dialed up to eleven at the basic level.

If one's five senses are not up to a certain standard, then it won't matter how much you train, you won't awaken Observation Haki.

Of course, this didn't imply that you need to have all your senses trained until a certain level or that if one of your senses are impaired, you won't be able to awaken Observation Haki.

It just meant that your remaining senses would have to be much better to compensate for the one that is either lacking or impaired.

As for those who are born with their Observation Haki naturally awakened? They are just people born with extremely good senses and as they grew up, their already excellent senses also grew, thereby increasing their Observation Haki level.

Asia from Skypiea was an example of one such character.

Marco's voice brought me out of my musings, "Yeah. Urouge already seems to have some training. I think he will probably be the first one to unlock Observation Haki among the three."

"Hey! What do you mean this old man will be the first? I will be the first!" Bonney indignantly shouted after hearing Marco's evaluation of Urouge.

I glanced at the three of them from the corner of my eye and saw that although Law didn't say anything, he was also dissatisfied with Marco's words.

"Actually, I am from a Sky Island. We have a technique called 'Mantra'. It works exactly like Observation Haki should. Before leaving my home, I was trained by a person who was very proficient in Mantra."

Urouge ignored Bonney's outburst and calmly provided an explanation, clearing Marco's doubts.

In such a way, the five of us continued our short journey toward the Moby Dick while engaging in inane conversations.

"You guys are right on time. Jeanne sent me to call you guys for lunch."

As the Moby Dick came into view, we came across Gyogyo, a pirate who was a member of the former Bonney Pirates.

"Food!!!"

The next moment, Bonney sped past us at an incredible speed, her earlier exhaustion nowhere to be seen.

None of us were bothered by the sight as we had grown accustomed to it in the past two days.

Two days have passed since I had talked with Luffy and Rayleigh.

Earlier today, I received news from Ivankov stating that Sabo would arrive on Momoiro Island the day after tomorrow.

After finishing lunch, I will be departing with the people I selected that day and making my way toward the meeting point on the Heart Pirates' Polar Tang.

Pops had also been informed about this trip.

I had feared that Pops wouldn't let me leave again so soon after the War. However, I was wrong.

Pops just told me to be careful and gave his blessings for the journey.

[About an Hour Later…]

[Grand Line, New World, Sphinx Island, East Coast, Polar Tang…]

│3rd Person POV│

Polar Tang was a submarine created by Wolf, a scientist from Swallow Island.

It was mostly made of metal and ran on engines. Because of this, it was durable enough to easily sail the waters of the New World and its sailing speed was faster than most other pirate ships.

At this moment, Ace was on the deck of the ship, exchanging some parting words with Marco, Vista, Jozu, and Jeanne.

Izou, Bonney, Law, and Bepo were also with him.

The remaining Heart Pirates members were doing some last-minute checks on the submarine.

"Izou, no matter what happens, don't let Ace wander out of your sight for much longer, okay yoi~?"

Hearing this, Ace's eyebrow started twitching violently.

The others also joined in the fun and started giving advice to Izou on how he should take care of Ace.

Ace controlled his impulse to start bickering with them immediately and took a breath to calm himself.

Then, he chose his opponent and attacked, "Mark my words, Marco! When I assume command in the future, my first order will be to portray you as the parrot mascot of our Whitebeard Pirates."

"Waahahahahaha!!"

"Dahahahaha!!"

Vista, Jozu, and Izou roared with laughter upon picturing the scene in their mind.

The smile on Marco's face froze. He was extremely tempted to start bombarding Ace with some nice hot fireballs.

While they were fooling around, Jeanne was having a chat with Bonney.

In an incredibly short amount of time, Jeanne had come to love Bonney and was reluctant to let her leave in the care of Ace.

However, she couldn't deny that the War had changed Ace. He was not that reckless anymore and he was now taking into account various factors before taking action.

Plus, Izou was also going with them.

And it was not like she could stop Bonney from personally leaving her Father in the care of the Revolutionary Army.
