The meaning of pure gold was very much clear to Alex.
This miracle, crafted by scientists, was an extraordinary treasure capable of nearly halting the loss of vitality. In a world where the Perennial Youth Operation was the only other known means of surpassing the lifespan of giants, pure gold stood as a comparable, if not superior.
Not only could it enable individuals to maintain their peak state for an extended period, but its power also offered the potential for true immortality.
BOOM!!!
The Footballfish, disturbed by the intrusion, seemed to sense the flying ship.
Undercurrents surged violently beneath the ocean floor, and waves roared upwards, exploding with tremendous force. Emerging from the depths, the enormous Footballfish shot towards the surface, its size dwarfing the flying battleship where Alex stood.
Its gaping maw, opened wide, casting a shadow that swallowed the light and threatened to devour the ship whole. By comparison, Alex's form was insignificant—no more than a speck of dust on its colossal teeth.
As it surged forward, seawater gushed like a violent waterfall from the edges of its mouth, adding to the ferocity of the moment.
Buzz!
Alex's sword, Akizakura, roared to life, unleashing a terrifying wave of sword force.
Swoosh!
The slash, amplified dozens of times the instant it was unleashed, tore through the air. It collided with the glowing "lantern" on the creature's head, severing it with precision.
The sword strike's power shattered the lantern, revealing a radiant, golden light within. The brilliance was so intense that it illuminated the entire surrounding sea, outshining even the sun.
"It's blinding! Is... is that gold?!"
Baccarat shielded her eyes from the dazzling glow. Once she managed to focus on the radiant orb, her voice trembled with awe and disbelief.
"This isn't ordinary gold," Alex explained, his gaze fixed on the immense golden sphere now floating midair under the control of the Float-Float Fruit. "This is pure gold—a treasure so legendary it's said its value could buy the entire world."
He continued, "Its true power lies in its ability of granting immortality."
Hearing this, Baccarat's eyes sparkled with newfound greed and desire. While many could resist the allure of gold, few—especially those beautiful females—could ignore the promise of eternal youth and life.
"ROAR!!!"
The Footballfish's agonized howl echoed through the sea as pain coursed through its head. Recognizing the terrifying force of Alex's Conqueror's Haki, the creature hesitated. Fear overtook its initial aggression, and it turned midair, desperately attempting to retreat into the safety of the ocean.
But Alex was not about to let it escape. With a gesture, he manipulated the surrounding seawater, forcibly dragging the massive fish back into the air.
Though he had already secured the pure gold the creature had hoarded over countless years, there was still more to uncover—particularly the laboratory hidden within its body.
Raising his sword once more, Alex unleashed a slash from above.
The force cleaved the Footballfish cleanly in half, its form splitting to reveal an internal structure.
There are three immense stomachs—each vast enough to house an island. In the depths of the third stomach was Alchemi Island. And there, hidden within the island's core, was a laboratory dedicated to the research and development of pure gold.
Alex had no intention of going into the creature's stomach. Knowing what lay inside, he dissected it in a precise and clean way.
Under the terrifying precision of Alex's flying slash, the laboratory was swiftly and cleanly removed from the Footballfish's remains.
With a motion, he used his abilities to transfer the entire structure onto his ship.
The laboratory, roughly the size of an ordinary house, contained organized books, research documents, and an assortment of metal minerals. These materials were essential resources for Alex's scientific research team.
Though Alex had already acquired a substantial amount of pure gold—more than enough to serve his purposes—he understood the potential value of the documents stored within the laboratory. For scientists, these records could hold the key to recreating the technology of pure gold or even advancing it to a new level.
As Alex completed his preparations, the sea below erupted into chaos. The Footballfish's remains, reduced to countless chunks of flesh, cascaded to the ocean floor, creating a bloody deluge that dyed the surrounding waters an ominous shade of scarlet.
The torrent of blood attracted marine life. Smaller fish swarmed in first, followed by massive Sea Kings, which piled onto the remains in a feeding frenzy.
Amidst this chaos, Alex briefly glanced at the two figures—Myskina Acier and his daughter—standing on the now-exposed remains of the Footballfish. These two, recently freed from the Footballfish's stomach after two centuries in darkness, were insignificant to him.
The daughter, disheveled and frantic, clung to her father, who was utterly out of touch with the modern world. Lacking both utility and relevance to Alex's plans, they held no value to him.
As they cried out in horror, pleading for help while Sea Kings closed in on the surrounding flesh and blood, Alex remained indifferent. His attention shifted instead to the massive sphere of pure gold.
After some thought, Alex retrieved a black cloth and, utilizing the More-More Fruit's powers, enlarged it to cover the sphere. However, its size meant it could only be carried as a rotating sphere orbiting the flying ship.
Alex mused over the practical limitations of the More-More Fruit, thinking that if it could also shrink objects, it would undoubtedly be an even greater power.
As this thought crossed his mind, Alex turned his gaze to the waters below.. The Sea Kings continued to swarm the bloody remains..
With a wave of his hand, Alex summoned a massive surge of seawater, lifting the ocean surface into a towering tsunami. The colossal wave crashed down with devastating force, quelling the chaos below by burying the blood-soaked remains and scattering the frenzied predators.
Once the waters settled, Alex turned his attention back to his ship, now prepared to handle the aftermath of this event.
Previously, many ships around noticed the dazzling light here.
Since they saw something they shouldn't have seen, Alex had no choice but to send them to the bottom of the sea to keep the secret safe.
Such events are commonplace on the Grand Line.
For Alex, it's just another matter of routine thought and decision-making.
