Chapter 13: 13- Immortality Surgery and Dreams
As the first town after Reverse Mountain, Loguetown was easy to reach—practically the first island we encountered. So, without much trouble, we arrived at the Town of the Beginning and the End, though it wasn't yet known by that name.
Since I was in a new place, I decided to buy a house. A home of my own was far better than staying in a hotel, especially with a beautiful maid serving me. Plus, after stealing Roger's genes, having a legitimate hideout would be useful. With so many pirates coming to see Roger's execution, a local guy like me wouldn't raise any suspicions.
And so began my life in Loguetown. My days were spent dabbling even deeper into my Devil Fruit abilities, training (automated, of course—manual labor is for peasants), reading the news, and gathering information about the world. Over half a year passed like this.
Roger had already been the Pirate King for months, and his day of execution was probably not that far off.
Then, on an otherwise uneventful day—
"Anna, remember the immortality surgery I told you about before? How about I do it on you tonight?" I asked.
"But, Master... you'll die because of it," Anna said, worried. "Even if you say you'll resurrect, it's not certain, right? Have you done this before?"
"Don't worry. I will resurrect. You know I'm immortal, so just relax and let me handle it," I said confidently.
Night came. Anna lay nervously on my bed.
"Hey, hey, why so tense? I am confident in my ability enough to ensure there will be no issues at all," I reassured her.
She sighed. "Dear Master, you do realize that you saying that only makes me more nervous, right?"
I chuckled. "Don't be naughty. Just lay still and let your Master work."
I activated ROOM, scanning her body. Although she had a Mythical Zoan Devil Fruit, her base physique was still pretty ordinary. Before doing the immortality surgery, I first removed any hidden ailments, ensuring her body was in peak condition. Then, I infused her with the D Clan genes—the same ones as mine. Thanks to her Devil Fruit, her physique potential instantly surpassed even mine.
With that done, it was time to make her immortal. Even I felt a bit nervous. The procedure would cost my life, after all, and dying isn't a very good experience...
But steadying myself, I began. I could feel my life force transferring into her, reinforcing hers, granting her pseudo-immortality. The Ope Ope no Mi gave her body an almost endless vitality, and with her Devil Fruit's healing factor, she had become something far beyond ordinary humans.
If she trained seriously from now on (Koby-level serious), she had the potential to reach Admiral level. With the speed and strength of the Moon Rabbit, combined with its resilience, she would be strong even among the Admirals—perhaps even equal to the original three.
As the operation finished, my body felt like a dried husk. I collapsed.
"It was... successful..." I muttered weakly before everything went black.
"Master!!!"
Anna's voice rang out, full of panic. She held my lifeless body, tears streaming down her face.
But within moments, my body returned to peak condition. I sat up, smiling.
"Looks like everything went well," I said casually.
In truth, I had been scared as hell. But no need to let Anna know that.
"Master... I was so scared..." she sobbed, clinging to me. "I thought you really died..." Yeah... this was her first time seeing me die and resurrect.
I didn't know what to say, so I just patted her head and pulled her close.
"Now, now, don't cry. Everything's fine. Daddy's here," I teased.
She pinched me in response. "Master! Not the time for jokes!"
But at least she wasn't crying anymore.
"Anyway, I also improved your physique," I told her. "So from now on, real serious training begins."
"Hmph, I'll become strong enough to protect you!" she declared.
"Aww, sure! I'll rely on my lovely Anna from now on," I grinned.
She blushed but looked annoyed, probably thinking I was joking.
"I am serious," I reassured her. "With your current physique and Devil Fruit, you can definitely reach Admiral level. So of course, I'll count on you."
That finally made her happy.
"Then I'll make sure to become super strong, Master~" she said with a mischievous smile.
Of course, I had stretched the truth a little. She could reach Admiral level—but probably only after I infused her with Roger's genetic constitution. After all, most people never fully realize their potential. But with Roger's talent and a Mythical Zoan, she had a real shot.
Strength required grind. Sure, I could increase my own power without effort, but I knew my combat instincts, pain tolerance, and fighting skills were fucked up. Even if I had the stamina to fight for ten days straight, could I stay focused for even a few hours? I was heading down the same path as Kaguya Otsutsuki...
But I had a way out. I didn't need to be a pure physical warrior. I could take the mage route with some tweaks—strong defenses, overwhelming firepower. Close combat? Irrelevant if I controlled the battlefield. My ROOM was a massive debuff to anyone weaker or at my level. As long as my stats kept rising, I could create an environment where fighting me physically was the dumbest decision possible.
And as for allies... I could have plenty of those.
If I wanted, I could build the strongest forces in the world—one that could destroy the Marines or even the World Government.
I had already begun dabbling in the soul aspect of my fruit. I could do more than swap souls—I could modify them. Rewrite memories. Convert someone into my most loyal follower.
Now imagine 10,000... no, 100,000 people who completely followed any order of mine without any chance of betrayal.
You might say, "The Marines have numbers too. Just these people can't do anything."
Sure. But I am a cheater in this world. What if I gave them all Roger's, Big Mom's, or Lunarian genes? Even if they wasted a lot of potential, they could still reach Elite Vice Admiral or Admiral Candidate levels. A single Admiral might overpower them one-on-one, but what about four? Five? Ten?
Just thinking about it sent a thrill through me. Maybe I should go claim a kingdom in the New World. Or better yet—Skypiea. The God theme was already there.
I could operate on every Skypiean. Modify their genetics. Make them grow larger wings, give them true angelic forms, enhance their strength... maybe even tweak their DNA to ensure their unwavering loyalty to me at a genetic level, so even newborns would be devoted to me.
Well, it was a bit evil… Okay, yeah, that was straight-up villainous.
But hey, in return for that loyalty, I'd be giving them Roger's, Big Mom's, or Lunarian's talent. I'd make them angels. The Lunarian flame ability, without the black wings and dark skin—it would look like holy fire.
And I would also give them better infrastructure and stuff, making Skypiea completely look like heaven.
And if they all served me, what did that make me?
A god. Or even better,
The God.
The thought sent a shiver down my spine, exciting enough to give me a boner...
I couldn't control myself. I started laughing. Loudly.
And then—BOOM.
A massive wave of Haki erupted from me, stronger than ever before. The entire island fell silent. People, animals, even the sea itself seemed to have been paused in time. The surrounding waters churned as unconscious fish floated to the surface.
"I guess I've found my dream..." I muttered, a grin stretching across my face.
