Chapter 470: Escape from Impel Down (Final)
In just a few moments, the naval and jailer encirclement was broken.
Ironically, the prisoners vastly outnumbered the marines and jailers. With Charlotte personally overseeing the escape, they should have broken through easily.
Yet, without Charlotte taking direct action, these prisoners—who outnumbered their enemies three to one—were slowly surrounded again.
A classic example of a disorderly mob.
Aside from a few powerful individuals who could ignore the encirclement, the majority got bogged down.
Thankfully, with Charlotte leading and opening the path, they broke through once more and jumped onto the warships.
"Dad!"
Tesla came running over.
"We've completely destroyed the control room. The Gates of Justice won't close until they're repaired."
He reported quickly.
Charlotte nodded, not overly concerned about Tesla's earlier disappearance.
"Set sail. If we delay any longer, the World Government will arrive."
Charlotte instructed Barrett.
"Yes!"
Barrett immediately began issuing orders.
To deal with the chaotic mob, Barrett used a ruthless strategy—killing a few to intimidate the rest—and quickly unified the forces across ten warships.
"Captain! There aren't enough ships! There are still a lot of prisoners waiting to board."
Caesar pointed toward the crowded dock.
"Leave them to Shiki," Charlotte said coldly, eyeing the stampede of prisoners trying to rush the fleet.
A growing sense of danger gnawed at him.
If they didn't leave now, something terrible would happen.
"Yes, sir."
Caesar nodded and said no more.
"Shiki, Redfield—leave now! If you keep fighting, you'll be stuck here!"
Charlotte shouted at the two still engaged in battle.
It was clear both were pushing their limits.
After being imprisoned for a year or two, their weakened bodies couldn't sustain prolonged combat.
A day and a night more of fighting might finish them off entirely.
The longer they lingered, the more dangerous things would become for Charlotte.
In midair, Shiki, gasping for breath, was still entangled with Kong, relying on his Float-Float Fruit powers.
Redfield and Zeffa were locked in a dead-even match, with no clear winner.
Hearing Charlotte's call, both men cast a reluctant glance at their opponents—
And immediately turned to flee.
"Bastards! Are you treating the Navy like a joke?!"
Kong could no longer contain his fury.
He dashed forward, launching off the air using Geppo (Moonwalk) to pursue Shiki.
But Geppo was nowhere near as fast as Shiki's floating ability.
"Gehahaha! Kong, you don't need to see me off."
Shiki mocked as he dropped back to the docks.
He looked over the warships now crammed with escapees and scoffed.
"Those who want to join the Flying Pirates, come to me!"
Shiki shouted to the remaining prisoners still stranded on the shore.
His voice echoed across the harbor, giving the abandoned convicts a beacon of hope.
"Wait for me, Lord Shiki!"
Thousands of prisoners turned and rushed toward him.
"Gehahaha, Charlotte—see you in the New World."
Ignoring Kong's fury, Shiki tapped his foot—
And lifted the entire dock into the sky like a floating island.
Over ten thousand prisoners soared with it.
"Uncle Shiki is incredible..." Caesar muttered in awe.
Charlotte frowned at the display but didn't comment on Caesar's remark.
"Hurry up. He'll likely reach the New World before us. If we're not there, Carter and the others won't be able to handle it."
Charlotte urged the others.
He wasn't sure if Shiki would act like in the original story—disillusioned and fixated on destroying East Blue to avenge Roger.
But if that changed, the New World would soon be in chaos.
Charlotte glanced at Redfield, now disengaged, and gave him a nod.
Their ships began sailing out of the Gates of Justice, steadily pulling away from Impel Down.
"Bastards! So arrogant! This is lawlessness! We must inform the World Government. If we don't punish the Rockefeller Pirates, who knows what they'll do next?!"
Kong raged as he surveyed the devastated fortress.
The greatest prison in the world, long believed to be unbreakable, had never suffered a successful escape—
Until today.
The Rockefeller Pirates had invaded Impel Down in broad daylight.
This wasn't just a prison break.
This was a declaration of war against both the Navy and the World Government.
Kong's thoughts raced as he tried to calculate the consequences and decide how to report this debacle.
Beside him, Zeffa sighed quietly.
"Marshal, how should we clean up this mess?"
He walked over to Kong's side.
"What else can we do? We report everything truthfully. Emphasize the danger the Rockefeller Pirates pose, and beg the World Government for greater military support. We need to strike into the New World and eliminate them."
Kong's voice was filled with suppressed rage as he stared at the fading outline of the departing ships.
But suddenly—
A new fleet appeared just outside the Gates of Justice, flying the World Government's flag.
Kong's eyes narrowed.
"They're here."
He murmured, walking alone toward the port.
When Fleet Admiral Kong first spotted Rockefeller Charlotte, he'd already notified the World Government.
Upon hearing about the prison break, the Five Elders were shocked.
They couldn't fathom Charlotte's actions.
Why break into Impel Down? Why release so many dangerous criminals?
They were better off locked away.
To them, this prison break made no logical sense.
There was no obvious benefit for the Rockefeller Pirates.
But regardless of logic—
Kong and Zeffa couldn't stop them.
Redfield had already beaten Kong once, and Charlotte had humiliated Zeffa before.
What chance did they stand?
The Five Elders grew anxious and dispatched a hidden enforcer from the World Government.
A middle-aged man with red hair stepped off one of their ships.
A long sword hung at his waist, and his sharp eyes scanned the ruins of Impel Down.
Then he spotted the defeated Kong emerging alone from the gates.
"What happened here? Where are the Rockefeller Pirates?"
The red-haired man's voice was cold and commanding.
Kong frowned slightly at the tone.
