Chapter 24: Robin Joins

At the end of the corridor, Link pushed the door open and entered.

As soon as they went inside, Link's group of four saw Robin sitting on a sofa, reading a book.

Seeing that the mysterious person was Robin, Vivi's expression was one of great surprise and complexity. "You are... Miss All Sunday!"

Robin closed her book, sized up the four of them, and said with a smile, "A pleasure to meet you for the first time, Princess Vivi, and you, Lord Impaler."

Link feigned ignorance and asked, "Are you the mysterious person who secretly leaked information about Baroque Works to Vivi, and who just sent me information about Crocodile?"

"I am."

Robin nodded and introduced herself with a smile, "My name is Nico Robin, codename Miss All Sunday, Vice President of Baroque Works, and also Crocodile's partner."

"Vice President?"

Nami had a look of surprise. "Aren't you Crocodile's partner? Why would you help us?"

Karīna pinched her chin, muttering to herself, "From the looks of it, it doesn't seem like she's trying to usurp power either."

Link also looked at Robin with feigned surprise, asking uncertainly, "Nico Robin? The 'Demon Child' Nico Robin who received a bounty of seventy-nine million Beri at the age of eight, twenty years ago?"

"Hiss..."

Before Robin could answer, Karīna and Nami gasped in shock.

Vivi also looked at Robin in disbelief.

"A... a bounty of seventy-nine million Beri at eight years old?"

"That's almost four times Arlong's bounty. What kind of heinous crime did she commit?"

Karīna and Nami were utterly shaken, as if they had just felt the vast disparity of the world.

As thieves who had gone out to sea to steal at the age of ten, Karīna and Nami knew all too well how weak one was at that age.

Even at thirteen, when they were somewhat known in the East Blue, they were still just the weakest of the weak.

Their strength and threat level, defined by bounties, would be in the millions at most.

Compared to Robin, who had a bounty of seventy-nine million Beri at the age of eight, it was like comparing heaven and earth.

"That's right. I am that Nico Robin."

A trace of gloom flashed in the depths of Robin's eyes, but her face still wore a mask-like smile as she delivered her well-prepared lines, "I met Crocodile three years ago and was coerced into joining Baroque Works. The goal was to usurp the political power of the Alabasta Kingdom, but his real purpose was to obtain the Poneglyph guarded by the Nefertari Royal Family for generations."

"Poneglyph?!"

To Robin's surprise, the attention of Karīna and the other two women was not on the usurpation of the kingdom, but on the Poneglyph, which few on this sea knew about.

Karīna and Nami looked at each other, then both turned to look at Link and Vivi.

Karīna analyzed, "The Nefertari Royal Family actually has a Poneglyph? Could it be that it records the erased history of the Nefertari family?"

"The ancient text Link picked up couldn't have come from the Alabasta Kingdom, could it?" Nami also speculated.

"I... I don't know either," Vivi said, completely bewildered.

"The erased history?"

Robin, however, stood up excitedly, looked at Karīna and Nami, and quickly asked, "Excuse me, what is this erased history you speak of?"

Robin had a premonition that the history Karīna and Nami were talking about might be the "True History" she had been searching for.

Seeing the drastic change in Robin's emotions, Karīna and Nami shook their heads blankly and pointed at Link, "We don't know either. It's Link's."

Robin's gaze instantly fell upon Link as she pleaded, "I have compiled all the evidence of Crocodile purchasing Dance Powder and his intent to usurp the country. I can give all of this evidence, including all of Crocodile's assets, to you. Please, you must tell me about that erased history."

Hearing this, the eyes of Karīna and the other two women lit up.

Vivi because of the evidence, and Karīna and Nami because of the word "assets."

The corner of Link's mouth curved up as he said with a playful smile, "You want to know?"

"Yes!"

Robin nodded forcefully, a stark contrast to her usual demeanor.

Link stated his condition: "I can tell you, but you must join my crew."

"Eh?"

Hearing this, Karīna and Nami were both slightly stunned, then looked on in disbelief.

Clearly, they hadn't expected Link to invite Robin to join.

One must know, Link was the strongest hunter in the East Blue.

After the Loguetown incident, he had become a major figure in the bounty hunting world.

Lord Impaler, who had always been merciless towards pirates and would eliminate them regardless of gender, was actually inviting a female pirate with a seventy-nine million Beri bounty to join his ship?

"I can. I agree," Robin nodded without the slightest hesitation.

Until she met companions willing to protect her, the Poneglyph was more important to Robin than anything else.

For the sake of the Poneglyph, she was willing to work for Crocodile for three years.

Similarly, she was willing to join Link.

Of course, if Link made her feel that her life was in danger, Robin would also do everything she could to escape his control.

If necessary, she would even stab Link in the back, just as she would have backstabbed Crocodile.

For twenty years, Robin had survived by constantly betraying others.

Before her heart could be opened, this woman trusted no one.

By the same token, if someone could open her heart and gain this woman's trust and affection, then between the Poneglyph and her companions, she would choose her companions without hesitation, even willing to sacrifice herself to protect them.

The fact that she hadn't been corrupted after twenty years on the run, retaining this precious quality, was the reason Link had a good impression of Robin and wanted her to join.

In this world, if he didn't poach the female characters he liked and change their tragic fates, wouldn't his journey be in vain?

Seeing Robin nod, Link's smile grew wider.

He couldn't help but say, "Rather than me telling you, why don't you go see it for yourself?"

"Alright!"

Understanding the meaning behind Link's words, Robin nodded again.

Immediately, the mature woman reverted to her quiet and elegant demeanor from before, looking at Link's group with a light smile, "Follow me. I'll first hand over the evidence of Crocodile purchasing Dance Powder and his intent to usurp the country."

After speaking, Robin turned and led Link's group of four towards the records room.
