Chapter 188: Chapter 188: How About Breaking a Leg Yourself?

"Hey, hey! Wright, how did it go?"

After putting away the sake and sending the three kids off to hunt in the forest, Garp leaned in closer to Wright and whispered eagerly.

"What do you mean, how did it go?"

Wright chuckled, pretending not to understand.

Bang!

"..."

"You brat! Don't test my patience!"

"Alright, alright!"

Wright sighed and rubbed his head, erasing the growing bump. This trick might work on Sengoku, but Garp? Forget it.

"Kuina's got no problem—"

"Of course she doesn't! Kuina's an absolute sweetheart!"

Garp's expression turned menacing. "What about those two boys? What's their deal?"

"Uh... Luffy's a lost cause!"

Wright threw up his hands. "Let me be honest: after Shanks pulled that stunt, there's really nothing I can do…"

"How about this—why don't you break a leg, Garp? Hand your dog-head hat down to Luffy. That tiger you mentioned from some far-off land? I'll go catch it myself! If it doesn't bite you, I'll beat it up!

"And don't worry about the leg—I can reattach it as long as it's not swallowed. If it is swallowed, I'll just cut it open and get it back. Totally safe!"

"..."

BOOM!

The three kids hunting in the forest felt the ground tremble violently. They exchanged glances, unsure of what had just happened.

"You brat!"

Garp, stomping furiously, pointed at Wright, who was sprawled on the ground after taking a punch.

"My legs wouldn't fall to something as trivial as a tiger! Even large Sea Kings can't handle these legs!"

No, Garp, that's not the point…

"...So, it's hopeless, Garp."

Wright got back on his feet and dusted himself off. "Shanks has gone all-in. There's no way I'm pulling Luffy back from this."

"Hmph! You're useless. Guess I'll have to take care of it myself!"

Garp grumbled, then asked, "And what about Ace?"

"Ace? Let's wait and see. Even if he's willing to join the Marines now, can you guarantee his safety?"

Wright's question left Garp momentarily speechless.

That… was a tough one.

But did that mean Ace might actually consider becoming a Marine?

"Hey, Wright! Did Ace tell you about his father?"

It wasn't until then that Garp noticed something unusual—why would Wright even bring up whether or not Ace could be kept safe?

"Yeah, it's no big deal."

Wright said nonchalantly, "Dadan and the others don't mind. You think I'd be more uptight than a bunch of mountain bandits?"

"..."

Scratching his head, Garp nodded. "True. Alright, let's leave it at that!"

Garp, your nerves are really something else…

...

After saying goodbye to Ace, Luffy, and Garp, Wright continued his journey with Kuina.

"We're almost at Loguetown."

Standing at the bow of the ship, Wright turned to Kuina. "I didn't bring you here on my previous trips, but since you're officially a Marine now, you should see it for yourself."

"The legendary birthplace and execution site of the Pirate King… 'The Town of Beginnings and Ends,' right?"

Kuina held her sword close, her tone filled with wonder. In the East Blue, and even beyond, who didn't dream of visiting Loguetown?

"Exactly…"

As the town came into view, Wright began his introduction.

"Loguetown isn't far from the Grand Line. It's the last stop for pirates from the East Blue heading there."

"As a result, it attracts most of the East Blue's pirates with ambitions for the Grand Line."

"That also means the Marines stationed here have their hands full. The pirates here are generally stronger than those in other parts of the East Blue."

"Typically, the Marines in Loguetown are directly assigned from Marine Headquarters. The local East Blue branches aren't quite up to the task."

"I see."

Kuina nodded. These pirates, having successfully reached Loguetown, were undoubtedly powerful. Some might even be veterans returning from failed campaigns in the Grand Line. No wonder the local Marines couldn't handle them.

As the warship docked in Loguetown's harbor, Wright instructed the crew to resupply and stand by. He then led Kuina into the bustling town.

The harbor was marked by an archway inscribed with "Logue Town." Beyond it stretched streets lined with shops and storefronts, bustling with people.

"Up ahead is the square where the Pirate King's execution platform stands. It's the most crowded spot in Loguetown," Wright explained. "When I was hunting pirates in the East Blue, I visited here often. The security was much better back then."

"That's probably because you wiped out all the pirates, senior brother…" Kuina teased.

Wright and Kuina were dressed in casual clothes, without their Marine uniforms. They blended in easily, drawing no attention as they strolled through the town.

"Kuina, take a look—"

Wright turned to point out some buildings near the square but froze mid-sentence.

"Eh? Kuina, why are you wearing glasses?"

"..."

Several seconds passed in silence, and the atmosphere grew increasingly awkward.

"No… no way. Is this really happening?"

Wright slowly turned back to see not one, but two identical young women standing before him.

One, dressed in a pink top and deep red pants, held a white-handled, white-sheathed katana with a confused expression.

The other, wearing red-framed glasses, a yellow floral top, and light blue jeans, carried a green-handled katana in a white-and-gold scabbard, looking equally bewildered.

"Um… Kuina?"

Wright turned to the glasses-free girl, his voice tinged with concern. "What's going on here?"

"Senior brother… I-I have no idea!"

"Uh… excuse me. My name is Tashigi…"

The bespectacled girl snapped out of her daze and looked nervously at the two. "And, um, this lady looks a lot like me…"

"This isn't just similar; it's identical!"

Wright rubbed his temples. "Tashigi, if you took off your glasses, I wouldn't be able to tell you two apart just by your eyes!"

What was this situation? Had fate decided he should meet Tashigi without Smoker being around? And with Kuina here, things were really awkward.

"Wow, senior brother, this is amazing!"

Recovering from her shock, Kuina was thrilled. "The sea is full of wonders, and meeting someone identical to me? Incredible!"

"..."

Well, as long as Kuina wasn't upset, they could sort this out later.

"Yes, very… amazing," Wright said with a strained smile. "Tashigi, since we've met by chance, how about joining us for a chat at a café?"

Tashigi, clearly curious, nodded. "Alright! Um… I'm new to Loguetown, but my wallet was just… stolen…"

Seeing their odd expressions, she blushed and mumbled, "Could I… order some snacks?"

"Of course, feel free. My treat." Wright suppressed a laugh.
