One Piece: I, the Strongest Intern of the Roger Pirates

Chapter 26: Chapter 26: The God Valley Free-for-All

Rocks' arrival brought the tense standoff to a complete halt once more.

His words tempted several of the pirates—after all the brutal fighting they'd been through, retreating now felt like a loss. And with the Rocks Pirates offering their support, the allure of greater spoils became difficult to ignore.

Fang Yi watched these wavering pirates and couldn't help but roll his eyes.

Just moments ago, they were begging our captain to plead on their behalf—and now they look ready to switch sides and backstab us?

No wonder pirates had such a terrible reputation. Their fickle nature truly made them hard to respect.

But then, the leader of the Pirate Alliance shook his head firmly.

"Lord Rocks, our original agreement was clear. You would help us rescue the slaves of God Valley, and in return, we would take nothing else. That was the deal."

"Oh?"

Rocks smiled.

"Then look at your crew—they seem tempted."

The pirate leader turned to his subordinates.

"Everyone... Don't forget why we formed this alliance! We didn't set out to be pirates! If we start acting like the Celestial Dragons—pillaging and enslaving—then what makes us any different from them?"

His words struck a chord.

The noisy crowd grew silent.

Those who had been tempted now lowered their heads in shame.

In a corner of the battlefield, Dragon—still receiving treatment—was stunned by what he heard.

Something within his heart cracked open.

He felt like… he finally understood something.

"Inspiring words," Rocks said, voice cold.

"But… if you die, will your men still think that way?"

Before anyone could react, he vanished.

"Watch out!"

Squelch!

Roger noticed something and warned them, but it was too late.

The Pirate Alliance leader looked down in disbelief—a blade had pierced his heart.

"Why…?" he asked, raising his head toward Rocks.

"Because I want more than just treasure," Rocks grinned.

"Gahahahahaha!"

"You bastard!!"

Clang!

Roger finally reached them, slashing at Rocks with his sword—but Rocks deflected it effortlessly.

"You're the new rising star—Captain Gol D. Roger, right?"

Rocks chuckled.

"Why don't you join us?"

"Join you? Go to hell!"

Roger lunged at him with fury.

But Rocks didn't strike back.

Instead, he kept dodging, almost toying with Roger.

Fang Yi rushed over to Rayleigh.

With a glance, he asked if they should assist Captain Roger.

Rayleigh simply shook his head and gestured toward John and Wang Zhi, silently indicating:

As long as those two don't interfere, we won't either. Let Roger handle this.

Fang Yi understood.

Even with his Hawk-Eye ability, he hadn't been able to track Rocks' movement earlier, meaning if Rocks had come for him, he'd be dead already.

Just like the Pirate Alliance leader.

Fueled by rage at the death of their leader, the pirates charged at the Rocks Pirates.

Boom!

Rocks suddenly kicked Roger.

Even though Roger crossed his arms to block, the force launched him backward.

Rocks stood his ground, laughing.

"Listen up, pirates! This is your final offer—join us, or die where you stand! Gahahahaha!"

But none of them listened.

They charged forward, weapons raised.

"Fools! Kill them all!"

Rocks' eyes flashed with murderous intent as he gave the order.

"Finally! I've been waiting too long!"

John licked his lips and led his men into battle.

The Rocks Pirates had the advantage in strength—it was like wolves among sheep. Pirates began to fall in droves.

Before Roger could react, Rayleigh stepped forward and shouted:

"Hold the line!"

At his command, the Roger Pirates entered battle mode.

Thwip! Thwip! Thwip!

Fang Yi quickly took his position, firing three arrows as he retreated.

Squelch!

Only one found its mark—the other two were blocked.

That's why I hate using multi-shot, Fang Yi thought.

More targets, sure—but the hit rate plummets.

Worse, his system only registered it as one attack, not three.

"Shanks! Stop Buggy from running off!"

Fang Yi called while losing another arrow.

Buggy had a nasty habit of rushing headfirst into fights.

Fang Yi didn't dare enter the fray himself—if Buggy died now, he'd lose a daily lottery ticket reward from the system.

Too big a loss.

"What now, Brother Yi?"

Shanks had grabbed Buggy and run back to Fang Yi.

Fang Yi scanned the battlefield, and an idea sparked.

"We're going to bait the Marines into this mess."

"Lure them in?" Shanks asked.

"Exactly. We harass the Rock Pirates and lead them toward the Marine lines. Let's see if the Navy still wants to play spectator then."

"Haha! I love that plan!"

Buggy cackled and darted into the chaos, using his agility as a child to weave through the battlefield.

"Buggy—wait up!"

Shanks hesitated, looked at Fang Yi, saw his nod, and chased after Buggy.

"Phew…"

Fang Yi took a deep breath.

There were powerful figures everywhere—he needed to maximize his rewards.

He wasn't ignoring the battle; according to the plot, Garp and Roger would eventually team up to defeat the Rocks Pirates.

So as long as that ending was secure, he didn't need to worry too much.

Thwip! Clang!

Fang Yi fired an arrow at a mid-level Rocks officer.

The enemy dodged it.

Thwip! Thwip! Thwip!

Fang Yi kept adjusting his aim and fired repeatedly.

"You damn brat! Can't you quit already?!"

His opponent, annoyed by the constant arrow fire, was finally wounded and turned to charge at Fang Yi.

Exactly what Fang Yi wanted.

Mid-level officers were strong enough to survive his harassment but dumb enough to fall into traps.

Fang Yi glanced at Garp.

Perfect. Time to bait the beast.

He faked panic, sprinting toward Garp's position.

The mid-tier enemy didn't notice where he was going—he just saw Fang Yi running like a frightened kid.

Fang Yi even fired a deliberately off-target arrow to sell the act.

Crash!

Fang Yi "accidentally" crashed into Garp.

"Ding! Congratulations, Host! You've tagged Monkey D. Garp! You've earned one lottery spin!"

"Perfect!"

Fang Yi grinned internally.

Outwardly, he looked shocked to bump into Garp and even rolled away to dodge the attack coming from behind.

"You little punk! Run again, I dare you!"

The Rocks pirate laughed gleefully—unaware he'd just run straight into the Marine formation.

Fang Yi, having completed his mission, scrambled up and fled the scene.

From the Marines' movement, he knew his plan had worked.

Within moments, thanks to the efforts of Fang Yi, Shanks, and Buggy, the Marines officially entered the fray.

Outnumbered, the Rocks Pirates quickly began to lose ground.

"Hmph! Marines, huh? Joining hands with pirates now?"

Even Rocks, under the combined assault of Garp and Roger, was forced onto the defensive.

"Tch. After we take care of you, the rest of them are next!"

Garp snarled at Roger, not pleased to be fighting beside him.

"Hahaha! Garp, you think you can capture me? But hey, you're right—first let's finish him off!"

Roger laughed heartily.

"Damn it! Garp! I've got the Celestial Dragons—take one more step, and I'll kill them all!"

Rocks was finally cornered and blurted out the threat.

"The Celestial Dragons? Go ahead, kill them. I've never liked those bastards anyway!"

Garp's fists didn't slow down at all, and he spoke like he meant every word.

But Roger noticed something strange.

Rocks… seemed stuck.

He wasn't going to kill the Celestial Dragons.

And suddenly, Roger understood.

Rocks didn't want to kill them—he wanted to use them.

He planned to seize power by controlling the Celestial Dragons, using them as puppets to manipulate the world.

Now that Roger saw through the plan, he fought even harder.

As for whether Garp understood this too… Roger wasn't sure.

But from the way he was acting, maybe Garp didn't care about the Celestial Dragons at all.
