Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Hancock Vs Kalifa
"Who did it?!"
Boa Hancock shot up from her seat, her fury palpable. If there were anyone she cared about more than herself, it was undoubtedly her two younger sisters. And now, with Sandersonia injured, how could she possibly remain calm?
She rushed to check on Sandersonia. Thankfully, it looked like she had only fainted—nothing fatal.
"Who did this?! Was it the person on that ship?!"
Marguerite stood at attention and responded, "Yes, it was the person across from us. She summoned a thunderbird. When Lady Sandersonia tried to resist, something went wrong..."
"I will not let them get away with this!" Hancock barked. She ordered the massive Sea King beneath them to speed up. At this point, the Kuja Pirates' ship was just thirty meters away from Vane's vessel.
Kalifa spotted them closing in. She immediately noticed Boa Hancock, her presence captivating.
"So that's the real Pirate Empress... she's even more beautiful in person!"
Jealousy and anxiety flared in Kalifa's heart. She feared Vane might awaken and become enamored with Hancock. She couldn't allow that. She needed to defeat the Empress with her own strength.
"No matter what, I can't lose!"
"Thirty Million Volts: Ten-Thousand Thunder!"
Kalifa raised a finger. Instantly, thick black clouds formed above the Kuja Pirates' ship, crackling with thunder and electricity.
"Come near me and die! Don't think so highly of yourself!"
Kalifa's voice was cold and full of contempt.
The Kuja Pirates were immediately alarmed as they looked up at the sky.
"What's happening?!"
"Where did the thunderclouds come from?"
"And they're so low!"
But Hancock remained composed.
"It's that woman! That blonde on the opposite ship! You dare use such a thing against me?! You've only made me angrier!"
Hancock snarled as she stepped onto the railing—and with a single powerful leap, she landed on Vane's ship with incredible grace.
"She jumped that far?! Is she even human?!" Kalifa was stunned. Her technique still needed to charge, and Hancock was already upon her!
"Perfect. Boa Hancock, I'll make you kneel and beg for mercy!"
Kalifa lashed out with a powerful kick. She was skilled in close-quarters combat, quick and flexible.
"Me? Kneel to you? Don't make me laugh. Ugly woman, you think you can defeat me?"
Boa Hancock sneered and retaliated.
Kalifa's kick missed as Hancock elegantly dodged and struck back.
"Perfume Femur!"
Hancock's attack was laced with the power of the Love-Love Fruit. One touch and Kalifa's body could begin to turn to stone. But Kalifa's Logia powers made her body intangible—her body turned into lightning just as Hancock's leg passed through her.
"You… You're a Logia user?!"
Hancock's eyes narrowed as realization struck.
"That's right! So what?" Kalifa smirked. "I suggest you get lost. Don't wake up Lord Vane!"
Kalifa's priority was clear—protect Vane's rest. He had a habit of deep midday naps, but even thunder might not be enough to keep him sleeping through a full battle.
"Such arrogance," Hancock scoffed. "Just because you're a Logia user doesn't mean you're untouchable to me!"
She attacked again, this time unleashing a flurry of strikes with her hands and legs—each one empowered by Armament Haki.
Kalifa tried to dodge, but she couldn't keep up. Hancock's strikes were precise, brutal, and unrelenting.
Hancock flipped and struck Kalifa with a spinning kick, following up with a flurry of Haki-imbued blows. Kalifa was overwhelmed—her strength barely measured up to a lieutenant before she got her Devil Fruit. Even with the Thunder Fruit, she was still not ready for someone on Hancock's level.
She was sent flying, smashed into the ship's mast. The entire mast trembled from the impact.
"How dare you hurt my sister?!" Hancock raged. She rushed forward, grabbed Kalifa by the collar, and raised her palm for a final blow across the face.
"Damn it… I'm still too weak… I took too many hits…" Kalifa was dazed and braced herself.
But just then, a blur shot between them with a lightning-fast steps.
SLAP!
The sound of the slap echoed across the deck as Hancock was sent flying, crashing hard into the ship's railing.
Vane had arrived.
He didn't use much force—this was a brand-new ship, after all. If he had, he would have kicked Hancock straight into the sea.
Anyone who dared lay a hand on his crewmates—especially while he slept—would face the wrath of the Pirate Empress' greatest rival.
