Chapter 129: Chapter 129 Sengoku: I've Provoked Someone, Can You Leave Me Alone?
Lucifer's actions in the New World caused an uproar, enough to shake the balance of the region. The Marines had to prepare for the aftermath.
The Five Elders' influence had no effect on Lucifer's kill order, and the Marines had to find another way to deal with it.
There's also the vacancy in the Seven Warlords of the Sea that needed to be filled.
A series of troubles had come together, leaving Sengoku physically and mentally exhausted. His hair and beard had almost turned white overnight.
If Mr. Tony, his exclusive barber, hadn't been so skilled, his aging appearance would have been even more evident.
"Is the candidate for Shichibukai still undecided?" Vice Admiral Tsuru asked calmly, resting her chin in her hands.
"No, these pirates aren't strong enough, and their deterrent power is lacking. If they become Shichibukai, I don't know who would defeat them."
"If we lose again, the majesty of the Seven Warlords of the Sea will be completely shattered!" Sengoku said, looking at the pirate candidates sent by his subordinates. None of them met his expectations.
"I have a good candidate here, but it's a pity he's in the West Blue, not the Grand Line."
"Oh? Who is it?" Tsuru inquired.
"It doesn't matter if he's not on the Grand Line, as long as he's strong enough to deter pirates worldwide."
Sengoku took a piece of information from Vice Admiral Tsuru. When he opened it, he saw a familiar face.
"Green Pepper, is that him?"
Green Pepper, the "Cone Head" and pillar of the Eight-Treasure Navy, had been a notorious pirate with a bounty over 100 million in his heyday. And that was several decades ago. If calculated in today's bounty scale, Green Pepper's bounty would be much higher.
Although Green Pepper had retired, his reputation still loomed large enough to deter pirates in the New World.
Whether in strength or influence, he had the qualifications to become a Shichibukai.
"Green Pepper? It's really an old acquaintance," Garp leaned back on the sofa, biting a piece of senbei, recalling old memories.
Back then, Garp was the one who had punched Green Pepper so hard that he dented the pirate's proud cone-shaped head. That blow had forced Green Pepper to retire from the pirate world.
Garp's iron fist had shaken the world, and the cone head of Green Pepper was just one of the many victims.
"Send someone to make contact, and if he agrees, let him fill the Shichibukai vacancy immediately," Sengoku ordered.
"I understand," Tsuru nodded.
After solving this difficult problem, Sengoku was about to breathe a sigh of relief.
However, hurried footsteps sounded outside the door, and a Marine Rear Admiral rushed in.
"No, Marshal Sengoku, Klocke Dar has been defeated!"
"What did you say?" Sengoku stood up from his chair, his eyes widening in shock.
Garp and Tsuru looked at Sengoku, whose expression had changed drastically. For a moment, neither knew what to say.
After struggling to find a suitable candidate to fill the Shichibukai vacancy, now another setback had occurred.
Is the Seven Warlords of the Sea really that weak?
Sengoku felt like a thousand angry horses were galloping through his mind. He didn't want to live through this.
Who did he provoke? Was this some divine punishment?
"Who did it? Have the criminals been identified?" Sengoku asked, covering his forehead in frustration.
"It's Charlotte Katakuri, a member of the New World Ghost Pirates!" the Rear Admiral reported.
"Is it Lucifer again?!" Sengoku gritted his teeth. "It's him, again. That man is back!"
The riots in the New World had not fully subsided, and now they're causing trouble in the first half of the Grand Line.
"What exactly does that man want to do?" Sengoku muttered. He had originally thought that letting Lucifer into the New World would stabilize things, but now the Marines were in a state of crisis.
"Is Klocke Dar dead?" Sengoku asked.
"I don't know, but someone saw Klocke Dar being taken away by Katakuri and his group."
"The only thing that is certain is that Lucifer didn't come in person," the Marine Rear Admiral reported respectfully.
"Good," Sengoku sighed in relief. "As long as Lucifer isn't here."
Although Charlotte Katakuri and his group were strong, the Naval Headquarters could still suppress them.
"How should we handle this now?" Vice Admiral Tsuru asked, awaiting Sengoku's decision.
Klocke Dar was a member of the Seven Warlords of the Sea, and news of his defeat couldn't be hidden.
This incident would quickly spread, and the majesty of the Seven Warlords would be shaken once again.
The fall of Moria, Doflamingo, and Klocke Dar, one after another, would make pirates lose all respect for the Shichibukai.
If this wasn't dealt with promptly, the Seven Warlords of the Sea would completely lose their deterrent power. At that point, the Seven Warlords would be nothing but a title, and the balance of the world's three major forces would become a joke.
Sengoku was silent. He couldn't make up his mind in the moment.
After all, Lucifer was behind Charlotte Katakuri. If the Marines attacked Katakuri, Lucifer would not let this slide.
Since the Marines hadn't figured out how to deal with Lucifer yet, Sengoku didn't want to provoke him just yet.
"Send the order to let them..."
Sengoku was about to speak when the phone bug rang.
"Boo blu blu! blu blu blu!"
"It's the Five Elders."
This was a special phone bug used by Sengoku to communicate with the World Government. Only the Five Elders could get through to him on this line.
"What are they calling at this time?" Sengoku wondered, picking up the phone. "Hi, this is Sengoku, what's the matter?"
"Did you hear the news that Klocke Dar has been defeated?"
A low voice came from the phone.
"Yes, I just got the message," Sengoku replied.
"Good. Now convey the World Government's orders: immediately intercept the criminals and arrest them all."
"Now?" Sengoku asked, frowning. "Why? The loss is just Klocke Dar. Is it really necessary to provoke Lucifer?"
"You should know that once the Marines move against them, Lucifer won't stay indifferent, right?"
"We know, but it's an order."
"You don't need to ask so many questions. Just do it."
"I'll send CP agents to assist the Marines with this mission!"
After saying that, the Five Elders hung up the phone.
"It seems that things are more complicated than we thought."
Whether it was Vice Admiral Tsuru, Garp, or Sengoku, they all understood that the World Government was taking this matter much more seriously than they had anticipated.
It wasn't just about Klocke Dar—it was about something more significant. The fact that CP agents had been dispatched proved that the World Government was treating this operation as a high-priority mission.
"I have no choice but to carry out the order."
"Send for Aokiji to meet me."
Sengoku gave the order.
"Yes, Marshal!" The Marine Rear Admiral saluted respectfully and hurried off to deliver the message.
Soon, Aokiji led the Marine fleet to sea.
On the bow, Aokiji yawned, looking unfazed.
"Captain Lucifer, Nico Robin has been captured," Katakuri reported over the phone.
"Bring her back. You did well this time," Lucifer replied.
"Thank you, Captain Lucifer."
Lucifer smiled faintly. "It's too early to be happy. If I'm not mistaken, the Marines have already begun to act."
"Capturing people is not the difficult part; bringing them back is where your true skill lies."
"Be careful. The Marines may send an Admiral after you."
"Understood, Captain Lucifer!" Katakuri responded.
After hanging up, Katakuri's expression grew serious.
"Big Brother Katakuri, do you think the Marines will really send an Admiral?" Charlotte Oven asked, concerned.
Although they were strong, they were still no match for a Marine Admiral.
If they came into direct contact with one, they would surely lose.
Katakuri looked ahead at the sea and gave the order, "Change course!"
"Yes!" The pirates responded quickly, turning the ship and heading in a new direction.
The sea was vast, and if they tried hard enough, the Marines wouldn't be able to find them anytime soon.
"Seems like this is the real challenge of the mission," Katakuri finally realized why Lucifer had entrusted him with it.
One reason was his strength, but another reason was that Lucifer was testing him.
There was no greater test than a direct confrontation with a Marine Admiral.
If Katakuri could pass this test, Lucifer would trust them completely.
And when that time came, the Charlotte family would no longer be in danger.
"I will complete this mission!" Katakuri vowed with determination.
For the sake of his family, Katakuri was prepared to give everything.
