One Piece: My code name is Green Bull

Chapter 101: Roger’s Defeat

Boom!

As Jon slowly sank into the ocean, he heard a thunderous explosion above. A smirk curled at the corner of his lips. That cunning old fox, Gol D. Roger, had finally fallen into his trap. With his ship destroyed, let's see how he planned to escape from Charlotte Linlin now.

During his time aboard the Oro Jackson, Jon had been closely monitored. To Roger's crew, he had appeared calm and obedient, doing nothing suspicious, as if he had resigned himself to his fate. But in reality, only Jon knew the truth. While he seemed inactive, he had been secretly preparing for days.

Especially when Roger and his main crew left the ship—that was when Jon discreetly planted countless seeds throughout the vessel. He didn't place them in obvious spots, either. Instead, he hid them in the cracks of the wooden planks, underneath the deck, and in various concealed corners of the ship. For days, he had been quietly turning the Oro Jackson into a ticking time bomb.

Roger might have had the ability to hear the Voice of All Things, but upon returning, his sole focus was on escaping Big Mom's pursuit. He never noticed that his ship had already been rigged. Thanks to those pre-planted seeds, Jon had been able to unleash his massive Tree World Birth technique in an instant, utterly devastating the Oro Jackson and creating an entire forest on the sea.

At the same time, he had made his escape, knowing that Big Mom's fire would soon rain down, setting everything ablaze in a spectacular inferno.

Jon had no interest in sticking around to see what happened next. To ensure his safe getaway, he immediately plunged into the sea, using aquatic plants and algae to cover himself as he drifted toward the ocean depths.

Soon, he had sunk so deep that he could no longer hear the battle above. But through his Observation Haki, he could still sense the chaotic clash happening in the distance—a sea of intense auras, undoubtedly belonging to Big Mom's forces.

Down in the deep, Jon carefully maneuvered himself, allowing the currents and algae to move him away from danger. He had no clear sense of direction, but he figured—as long as he kept moving, he would eventually escape both the Roger Pirates and Big Mom's crew.

For the next full day and night, Jon remained submerged, drifting through the vast underwater world. He had no idea how far he had traveled, but this was by far his most dangerous escape yet.

Throughout his journey, he encountered multiple groups of Sea Kings. At one point, he had even almost been swallowed whole by one—only his Armament Haki had saved him. By hardening his body, he managed to shatter the creature's teeth, using his plant-based abilities to slip away.

Being a Devil Fruit user, he had no way to freely swim. If he was attacked by large sea creatures, his only option was defense—and thankfully, his Haki training had paid off. If he had relied solely on his raw physical strength, a fully grown Sea King might have ripped him apart.

Blegh—

Jon spat out a few pieces of seaweed, his face full of relief. He had finally escaped.

Despite being a bit battered, his mood remained high. He had successfully escaped from the Roger Pirates and even tricked Roger himself—that was something to be proud of.

In terms of raw power, Jon was far weaker than Roger's crew. There were many members who could have easily defeated him in a straight fight. But in the end—he had outwitted them all.

That was the beauty of Devil Fruits in the One Piece world. A weaker ability user could still turn the tables with the right strategy.

"Only a few days have passed, and I'm already drifting alone again… How long will it take to find civilization this time?"

Jon sighed in frustration. After his last battle with Big Mom, he had been stranded at sea for days. Now, he was right back where he started.

Using a makeshift wooden raft, Jon set off once again—this time, he was extremely cautious, constantly scanning his surroundings with Observation Haki. Since he was still near Big Mom's territory, he had to avoid detection at all costs.

Luckily, this time, his luck turned around—he didn't drift for long before spotting an island.

A Few Weeks Later—

"Yo, kid. You look like you've been through hell."

Jon turned toward the familiar voice, and his face lit up with a smile.

There, grinning mischievously, stood Borsalino.

A while back, Jon had managed to find a Navy warship. After confirming his identity, he had contacted Marine HQ, which relayed the message to G-1 Base. But he hadn't expected that the person sent to retrieve him would be none other than his long-lost comrade—Borsalino.

"Borsalino? What are you doing here? Weren't you assisting Fleet Admiral Sengoku in hunting Shiki?"

Jon boarded Borsalino's warship, changed into a fresh set of clothes, and sat down for a chat.

Borsalino lazily reclined in a chair.

"Your intel is outdated, my friend. The war with Shiki has already ended. Sengoku and Garp have returned to Marine HQ, and only Vice Admiral Tsuru remains at G-1 Base."

"The war ended?" Jon's eyes widened in surprise.

He knew that the Marines had been fighting New World pirates for years—how could they suddenly call it quits?

"Yeah. We had another major battle with Shiki, and both sides took heavy losses. Shiki retreated, and Fleet Admiral Kong ordered everyone back. Just like that, the war was over."

Jon was speechless. The Marines clearly didn't come out on top—otherwise, they wouldn't have withdrawn so suddenly.

"Then why didn't you go back with them?"

Borsalino rolled his eyes.

"Because I was waiting for you. When we heard you'd been captured by Roger, I was so worried about you~"

Jon scoffed.

"Tch. More like you were hoping I'd die, so you wouldn't have to pay back your debts."

Borsalino smirked.

"Come on now, Jon. We both know you're too stubborn to die so easily. But you really surprised me… You actually escaped from the Roger Pirates."

He rubbed his chin.

"And rumor has it—Roger's crew got crushed by Big Mom shortly after. That wouldn't have anything to do with you, would it?"

Jon raised an eyebrow.

"Roger's crew lost?"

Having spent the last few weeks in isolation, Jon had received no updates on what happened after his escape.

"Yup. Apparently, Roger took a major hit—but the details are unclear."

Jon chuckled, shaking his head.

"Serves him right."

Being captured had been bad enough—but spending days under surveillance like a prisoner had made Jon loathe Roger's crew even more.

Knowing that they had suffered only made his victory sweeter.
