Chapter 157: I Didn’t Hear Clearly
Sakazuki looked up and asked, "Is there something unusual about it?"
By now, the campaign in the North Blue was nearing its end. Most areas had already been swept through, and the fleet was moving toward Reverse Mountain to head into other seas.
As for underground ships without pirate flags, the usual procedure was to detain them first. Headquarters would then check the vessel's registration to decide whether to execute or release them.
Unlike pirates, underground organizations weren't treated the same. Although human trafficking and arms smuggling were officially banned across the seas, the World Government had never seriously enforced these laws. They were more symbolic than real.
But when Sakazuki crossed paths with them, no one ever made it out alive.
The soldier stood straight and said, "The ship is carrying a large amount of dangerous weaponry, but all of it was ordered by one of the World Government's member nations. It's part of an official procurement, however, the ones leading the delivery are pirates with active bounties. Rear Admiral Enel wants to know how you'd like to handle it."
Sakazuki replied casually, "Kill the pirates. Let a few of the kingdom's people take the ship back."
"Yes, sir!" The soldier saluted, turned, and left.

On the black market's transport ship.
Trebol, an officer of the Donquixote Family, was drenched in cold sweat.
'Damn it... why did it have to be Sakazuki?'
He cursed furiously in his mind, throwing every insult he could think of at Enel.
He knew all about the Four Blues Sweep Campaign, the massive purge that had shaken the seas. His family had been moving carefully ever since. But this shipment... the buyer had offered too much money to ignore.
Given it was an order from a member nation, they figured they could slip through unnoticed. Even if they encountered the Marines, the official status might bluff them out of trouble. After all, both the member nations and the Marines were part of the World Government, so there shouldn't have been a conflict.
But they'd run straight into Enel's fleet. If it had been anyone else, any ship other than Sakazuki's, Bullet's, or Enel's, they probably could've talked their way out.
Unfortunately, Enel was vicious. He'd told Trebol he didn't have the authority to decide, then had a squad of soldiers escort the ship east for hours.
The pressure of the purge campaign kept anyone from acting rashly. Still, a growing sense of dread filled Trebol's chest.
Halfway through the trip, he secretly called Doflamingo using a Den Den Mushi and reported everything.
Doflamingo was shocked. He immediately contacted the king of the buying nation, hoping to pull some strings through government channels. At the same time, he took flight, rushing to Trebol's location.

After a while, Trebol was still waiting anxiously when a soldier informed them they had arrived.
He saw a messenger head toward the warship, and finally asked one of the nearby escorting guards whose ship it was.
Since they had reached their destination, the soldier didn't hide it and directly revealed it was Admiral Akainu's warship.
Trebol's knees nearly gave out.
He forgot the money. Now, he was just trying to survive.
While his mind raced, he noticed the messenger reappear on the deck. The man walked to the railing and commanded, "People from the member nation, step forward."
Those on the transport ship looked around in confusion.
The soldier at the railing frowned. "I said step forward!"
Startled, the officials from the member nation hurriedly stepped out and lined up.
The messenger nodded. "Execute every pirate except the member nation's personnel."
Click, click.
All the soldiers at the railing raised their rifles and aimed at the Donquixote Family crew.
Trebol gritted his teeth. He couldn't wait any longer.
"Sticky Sticky Chain!"
From his filthy-looking body, thick, slimy glue burst out, forming netted chains that shot toward the officials. He wrapped them up and lifted them into the air, using their swaying bodies as human shields in front of the ship.
He shouted at his men, "Start the ship! Now!"

Inside the warship's office.
Sakazuki had just taken a call from Kong.
Suddenly, with his Observation Haki, he sensed what was happening outside and furrowed his brows.
"It's too late, Fleet Admiral. All the pirates are dead, but the people from the member nation are fine."
* * *
Marine Headquarters, Marineford.
In the fleet admiral's office, two Den Den Mushi sat on the desk.
One was connected to the king of a member nation. The other to Sakazuki.
Hearing Sakazuki's words, Kong turned to the king's line and said, "It's already done, King Alexi. Your people are safe though."
A middle-aged man's voice came through the Den Den Mushi. "I heard it. So—"
A younger and deeper voice abruptly cut in on the line. "Impossible. Trebol's Vivre Card is still intact. He must've been captured."
* * *
North Blue, aboard the marine warship.
Sakazuki saw the messenger soldier rush in. He waved a hand and stepped out.
In the distance, the transport ship had already sailed a few hundred meters.
Boom.
He blasted into the sky, vanishing instantly.
Crash!
He landed hard on the deck and the sound of shattering boards echoed. Trebol didn't even have time to react before Sakazuki stomped his head straight into the cracked deck.
Looking down at the sticky goo under his feet, Sakazuki frowned.
Trebol's vision blurred as he felt the crushing weight above him, his mind reeling in terror.
Crack!
All he felt was something press hard against his skull. Then everything lost its color. Darkness swallowed the world.
The officials who had been held up by the sticky chains dropped to the floor, gasping for breath in shock.
Sakazuki raised the Den Den Mushi in his left hand and said, "Did someone just say about something being 'intact'? I didn't hear clearly. What did it mean?"
He lifted his right hand and pointed toward the pirates trying to flee in all directions.
Bang. Bang. Bang. Bang…
Headshots rang out one after another.
* * *
North Blue, high in the sky.
Doflamingo, wearing a red suit, flew toward Trebol using his String-String Fruit powers.
He had just said into his Den Den Mushi that Trebol's Vivre Card was still intact. But right then, it burned to ash in his hand.
His expression darkened.
"Damn it..."
He ended the call and stopped in midair, face emotionless.
"Sakazuki..."
* * *
North Blue, royal palace of the Kingdom of Kogadako.
King Alexi watched the Den Den Mushi representing Doflamingo suddenly cut off, his eyes flickering with displeasure. 'A mere pirate dares hang up on me? What nonsense...'
He took a deep breath, apologized to Fleet Admiral Kong through the other line, then ordered his men to sail out and retrieve the transport ship.
Even though Sakazuki said his people were safe, it was better to be sure.
Those weapons were crucial to crushing the rebels.
Thinking of those damn rebels, Alexei snorted coldly. Then he rose and headed toward the inner palace to deal with more "state matters."

North Blue. On the transport ship carrying weapons for the member nation.
After killing all the pirates, only the terrified officials remained, staring at Sakazuki in fear.
He ignored them and walked over to where Trebol had just been crushed. Without the sticky goo covering his body, the man was no longer a bloated mess. He'd returned to his true form: a scrawny, greasy man.
Sakazuki gave the corpse a casual kick, sending it flying off the ship and into the sea.
Sharks would take care of the rest.
He scoffed. "Garbage."
