One Piece: Take the Uchiha Clan to the Grand Line

Chapter 233: Kitaro vs. Orochimaru

— — — — — — —

Uchiha Kitaro drew his sword and locked eyes with Orochimaru. The latter immediately understood what his disciple meant—Kitaro wanted a sparring match.

Even though Orochimaru knew he wasn't a match for his pupil anymore, he couldn't help but reminisce.

How did he know? Simple: Orochimaru had been researching immortality for years, particularly a jutsu that allowed him to switch bodies by taking over someone else's.

Naturally, he was picky about the body he'd choose. Kitaro, his talented disciple with unmatched potential, was the obvious first choice. So, years ago, he had tried to claim Kitaro's body—when the boy was just seven years old.

At the time, Orochimaru had thought it would be a walk in the park. How hard could it be to take down a seven-year-old?

Turns out, very hard.

Orochimaru lost. Badly. In fact, "badly" doesn't even cover it—he got utterly wrecked. That day, he questioned everything he had ever done. How could someone who spent years mastering the art of ninjutsu lose so miserably to a child?

Kitaro didn't just defeat him; he humiliated him. Orochimaru couldn't even put up a proper defense, let alone counterattack.

Ever since then, Orochimaru had been obsessively developing new techniques—each one designed to overcome Kitaro. He could never quite let go of the idea of taking Kitaro's body for himself.

But the boy's strength only grew. Year after year, it was like Kitaro was breaking all limits, growing stronger and stronger until he was now... monstrous.

Still, Orochimaru couldn't resist the temptation to test his student's strength. And if he managed to kill him? Well, so much the better.

The others quickly caught on to the tension. Using Body Flicker, they retreated to a safe distance, leaving Kitaro and Orochimaru alone.

"Striking Shadow Snakes!"

Orochimaru launched a probing attack. His arm transformed into a swarm of massive snakes, which lunged at Kitaro with fangs bared.

"Flame Breathing, First Form: Unknowing Fire!"

Kitaro swung his blade in a fiery arc. His Nichirin Blade, wreathed in flames, effortlessly sliced through the incoming snakes, reducing them to ash. Without missing a beat, Kitaro stepped forward, closing the gap between them in an instant.

"Flame Breathing, Second Form: Rising Scorching Sun!"

With a powerful upward slash, he aimed straight for Orochimaru. The blade came so close that it split Orochimaru's arm in half, but the Sannin managed to retreat just in time.

Kitaro didn't pursue. Instead, he stood his ground, watching silently.

"Impressive slashes," Orochimaru admitted. He could see it clearly—Kitaro's mastery of swordsmanship combined with Flame Breathing was seamless, a deadly combination.

"Just part of the technique," Kitaro replied. "How about this?"

"Ten Thousand Snakes Formation!"

Orochimaru slammed his hands onto the ground. From his mouth, an unending swarm of snakes poured out, forming a massive wave that surrounded Kitaro. The writhing mass of serpents surged forward, ready to devour him.

From a distance, Shisui and the others watched in horror. The sheer number of snakes made their skin crawl.

"Those things are disgusting," Shisui muttered. His first instinct was to unleash an attack to wipe them out. But he held back—this was Kitaro's fight, after all.

"Flame Breathing, Fourth Form: Blooming Flame Undulation!"

Kitaro spun in place, creating a vortex of flame. The fiery whirlwind consumed the approaching snakes, reducing them to charred remains.

But Orochimaru wasn't done.

"My dear disciple, don't think my techniques are that simple," he said with a sinister grin.

As the surviving snakes neared Kitaro, they began to explode—one after another. Orochimaru had concealed explosive tags inside their bodies.

The chain reaction was catastrophic.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

Explosions echoed across the battlefield, creating a massive shockwave that obliterated everything nearby.

"Explosive tags?!"

"Damn it!" Kakashi cursed. "That's a straight-up assassination attempt."

Guy frowned. "It's clear Orochimaru isn't just testing Kitaro—he's trying to kill him."

Despite their concern, Shisui and Itachi remained calm.

"This won't stop Kitaro," Shisui said with confidence. "It's not nearly enough."

"Flame Breathing, Ninth Form: Rengoku!"

Through the sea of explosions, a blazing inferno erupted. A massive dragon of hellfire emerged, tearing through the destruction and heading straight for Orochimaru.

"Summoning Jutsu: Giant Snake!" Orochimaru countered, summoning an enormous serpent.

But the snake barely had time to react. As the fire dragon collided with it, the summoned beast was completely incinerated, reduced to ashes in seconds.

"Damn... Orochimaru is incredible!" Guy exclaimed, astonished by the Sannin's skills.

Kakashi nodded in agreement. "This is why he's one of the Legendary Sannin."

But Kitaro wasn't impressed. He knew Orochimaru's true strength—both the anime and the real world had painted the Sannin differently.

"People underestimate Orochimaru," Kitaro muttered. "The guy's a genius. Sure, in the anime, they made him look weak—like some second-rate villain. But that's because he showed up too early in the story. Early characters always get nerfed."

In truth, Orochimaru was the strongest of the three Sannin. Far stronger than Tsunade or Jiraiya.

Even with Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan, Sasuke hadn't been a match for him. And Orochimaru, even with his hands crippled, nearly killed a five-tailed Naruto.

"That was the real Orochimaru—an unstoppable force," Kitaro thought, his eyes narrowing. "Now, let's see what you've got left, sensei."
