Chapter 2: 1 - A Vice Admiral Lost in the East BlueMarineford

1 - A Vice Admiral Lost in the East Blue

Marineford, the heart of the Marine authority. The port was a hive of activity, with warships docking and departing, carrying Marines on various missions across the world.

The grand central plaza, usually a witness to troop marches and formations, was filled with officers and soldiers in training. The shouts of instructors and the rhythmic sound of boots against the ground added to the atmosphere of discipline and order. Lower-ranking Marines carried out their daily tasks, from weapon maintenance to ship upkeep.

The higher-ups were in their offices, coordinating operations and discussing strategies in endless meetings. The offices were equipped with maps and advanced communication systems, allowing for the global supervision of naval activities.

Meanwhile, in the office of the highest-ranking person in Marineford, sat Sengoku, the Buddha—so named for his powerful Devil Fruit, which allowed him to transform into a giant golden Buddha capable of striking enemies with powerful shockwaves.

As Sengoku was buried in paperwork, fulfilling his duties as Fleet Admiral, an elderly man sat beside him, eating as if he had nothing else to care about.

This man was none other than Vice Admiral Garp, also known as Garp the Fist—or better yet, the Hero of the Marines.

—Garp, if you have nothing better to do, go train the soldiers —said Sengoku, rubbing his forehead in barely restrained frustration.

—Aaah, that's boring —Garp replied, still chewing on his senbei.

Just as Sengoku was about to kick his old comrade out, a visitor knocked urgently on the office door.

—Come in —Sengoku said, once again suppressing his irritation toward his friend.

—Fleet Admiral Sengoku, we have a problem! Vice Admiral Kara has been swallowed by a Sea King off the coast of Marineford! —reported the messenger, rushing into the office.

Upon hearing this, Sengoku did not look concerned—instead, he looked annoyed.

—That damn girl again… she's going to cause trouble —he muttered, already feeling exhausted.

—Pujajajaja! How do Sea Kings always end up near Marineford's shores? —Garp laughed loudly, further aggravating Sengoku.

—Garp, she's your damn granddaughter! Go find her before she causes any more problems! —Sengoku ordered, practically shoving Garp and the messenger out of the office.

The messenger, confused as to why the Fleet Admiral was not even slightly worried about the Vice Admiral, looked at Garp in disbelief.

Seeing his confusion, Garp offered some words of comfort as they walked out.

—Haha, don't worry, this isn't the first time she's gone missing in action —he said, handing the messenger one of his cookies before heading toward the port.

He figured he might as well take a stroll—and maybe even visit his youngest grandson.

Meanwhile, the messenger, still new to Marineford, remained bewildered.

—But Vice Admiral Kara wasn't in action… she was just lying on a boat, fishing… —he murmured, staring at the senbei Garp had given him before walking away.

Somewhere Else...A Sea King swam at full speed, fleeing from the massive Sea Kings of the Calm Belt. At some point, it entered the East Blue, where it finally found a place to rest.

However, before it could do anything, it felt a deep, searing pain in its stomach. It quickly surfaced, writhing in agony… until, suddenly, it was completely shredded into cubes.

A figure emerged from the floating remains of the Sea King.

—Where am I? —said the young woman as she stepped out from the chunks of meat bobbing in the water—. Well, I suppose it must be fate that brought me here —she murmured, adjusting one of her black gloves.

The young woman had jet-black hair cut to shoulder length. Her appearance was more than striking—she could easily turn heads, even among other women. Her height, around 1.92 meters, was quite tall for a woman, though in this world, it wasn't particularly rare—except, of course, for the admirals, who stood over three meters tall.

She wore a sleek black shirt of impeccable craftsmanship that accentuated her athletic figure, paired with well-fitted black dress pants that fell perfectly over her polished shoes. Around her neck, a red tie added a bold contrast to her outfit, reflecting her determined and passionate spirit.

Over her flawless attire, she wore the Marines' signature white coat—a garment that commanded respect and authority. The coat, adorned with the golden insignia of her rank and the word "Justice" emblazoned on the back, billowed slightly with each step as she used Sky Walk, a Marine technique that allowed her to leap through the air.

As she moved calmly through the sky, she quickly spotted an island not too far away. Without hesitation, she headed toward it.The moment she arrived, she noticed that many civilians, upon seeing her uniform—more precisely, the word Justice emblazoned on the back of her coat—immediately hid inside their homes and moved away from her path, as if she were the plague itself.

—Mmm… this makes me feel a little unwanted —Kara muttered as she watched the people avoid her gaze.

—Hey, you, come here —she ordered, pointing at a young man who looked like he was about to cry after being called out.

—Y-yes… what do you need, ma'am? —the boy asked submissively, his voice trembling.

—What's going on here? The Marines are supposed to be full of good people… well, sort of… mmm, mostly… Bah, just think of me as a good person —Kara said, recalling several of her comrades. Many of them had little interest in civilians' lives, while those who did often acted like idiots.

Although, in reality, what annoyed most of her colleagues more was not that she called them idiots, but that she considered herself a better person than them.

—I-I… ma'am… there's nothing wrong. On this island… we love the Marines —the young man said quickly, feeling an even stronger urge to cry.

—Cut the nonsense and just say it —Kara responded, waving her hands in exasperation.

The boy hesitated to answer, but then, a little girl who had been hiding in a small restaurant stepped out bravely and spoke up:

—It's Morgan's fault! Everyone is afraid of being caught by him!

The girl's mother, terrified, quickly ran over and grabbed her in fear.

—Rika, quiet! —she whispered, covering her mouth—. I'm sorry, Miss Marine, she's just a child, she doesn't know what she's saying —she added, trembling.

—Morgan? That name sounds familiar… By the way, what's this place called? —Kara asked, paying no mind to the mother's fear.

—T-this island… i-it's called Yotsuba, and the town is Shells Town —the woman replied.

—Wow… I really did end up far away. How long was I asleep inside that Sea King? —Kara murmured, smiling gracefully.

Then, she looked at the little girl with interest.

—Do you want to play rock-paper-scissors? If you win, you can order me to do something.

—But what happens if I lose? —the girl asked quickly, intrigued.

—Mmm… then I'll just leave without doing anything. How about that? —Kara said, patting the little girl's head.

—Okay! —the girl replied with a smile, nodding, since she had nothing to lose anyway.

—Alright then. One, two, three… rock!

—Paper… I won! Hahaha! —the girl laughed happily, while a smile also formed on Kara's face. After all, beating a Vice Admiral who knew Observation Haki was literally impossible.

—So, what's your order, little Rika? —Kara asked, standing at attention like a soldier awaiting a command, still smiling.

Meanwhile, all the surrounding civilians watched intently, not fully understanding what was happening but looking at Rika with a glimmer of hope.

Feeling all eyes on her, Rika quickly became nervous, unsure of what to ask for. She could feel that the others were expecting something from her, but, of course, she couldn't fully grasp what.

—I… I… I want you to help the swordsman! —she blurted out.

—The swordsman? —Kara asked, thinking for a moment as she sensed the life forms in the town—. Mmm… I see —she muttered, realizing what was happening.

Meanwhile, some civilians felt disappointed, thinking Rika had wasted her request just to free the swordsman.

—Well, that's easy. I'll be right back —Kara said as she casually strolled toward the island's Marine base with relaxed steps, under the watchful eyes of everyone present.
