One piece: The Fairy Of justice (English version)

Chapter 6: 5 - Shadows of the Past

5 - Shadows of the Past

—Well, that's it for the show. You'd better head home —said Kara as she expelled all the civilians.

She wasn't actually going to do anything bloody; she just wanted everyone to leave.

—I wonder if I can pretend to be a bounty hunter to collect the money for catching you —she commented, looking at Kuro, who was breathing heavily and watching her with a mix of fear and anger—. I don't actually need the money… but I like making the Marine base bleed a little —she added with a smile while handcuffing him and then throwing him inside the pirate ship.

After a while, Kara took Zoro to eat something to regain energy.

—Where am I? —asked Coby while a doctor examined him.

—You're in Syrup Village. Your companions are waiting for you in the restaurant across the street. Don't worry, they've already paid for the consultation. You were just knocked out for a while —replied the doctor upon seeing that Coby was in good condition.

—My companions? —Coby repeated, confused. Then, he went outside to see who these supposed companions were, as the last thing he remembered was a woman with the Marine's justice cape before falling into the water and hitting a sea rock.

When he entered the restaurant, he immediately recognized the person who could be his companion. It was none other than the woman he had seen before losing consciousness when Luffy threw him.

—Hello? Did you bring me here? —asked Coby, a little scared. After all, he was facing strangers, and the woman in front of him bore the insignia of a vice admiral on her shoulders.

—Oh, you're awake. Are you hungry? —asked Kara, inviting him to sit with them.

—Y-Yes, thank you —Coby replied while touching his stomach. After all, he had been unconscious for one or two days without eating anything.

After finishing his meal, he realized he still didn't know why he was there.

—I-I'm Coby. May I ask why I'm here, ma'am? —he said respectfully.

—Well, when Luffy threw you into the air, he said you wanted to be a Marine. Since you were nearby, we brought you with us —Kara replied with a smile.

—Will you let me join the Marines? —Coby asked, surprised and excited.

—Of course. In the meantime, you can be an apprentice with the seaweed head here —said Kara, pointing at Zoro, who was calmly drinking sake.

—Apprentice? —asked Zoro, raising an eyebrow.

—Sure. Or do you want to be a vice admiral as soon as you join the Marines? As if it were that easy —said Kara, looking at him as if he were an idiot—. You have to face pirates and even your own idiot comrades to rise in rank.

Then, she stretched and got up from the table.

—Don't worry. While we pass through the East Blue, we'll hunt some pirates so you can rise a few ranks at least. I don't want to be embarrassed —she said before leaving.

Rising in rank in the Marines wasn't just about accumulating merits. There were many corrupt officers who, besides being envious, placed obstacles for those who advanced cleanly. Even with Garp's support, it had taken Kara a lot of effort to reach the rank of vice admiral.

The first thing she did upon obtaining her rank was start gathering evidence against the corrupt. As soon as she had tangible proof, she didn't wait for orders—she violently captured them and left them at Sengoku's door.

Thanks to this, corruption had decreased near Marineford. No Marine in their right mind dared to commit any illegal act near Kara, as they knew she enjoyed beating the guilty once she found them.

Obviously, if their crimes were serious, she didn't even bother to arrest them—she simply threw them into the sea to be food for the Sea Kings. Although, fortunately, not many reached that extreme.

Her uncontrollable attitude even led her to hunt down nobles who committed crimes, which provoked numerous complaints from kings and aristocrats to the World Government. That's why Sengoku decided to keep her in Marineford in her current position.

Despite everything, the Marines were grateful that Kara was there. No one wanted her to go on a hunt again, as her presence was demotivating even for honest soldiers.

Finally, the three boarded the pirate ship that once belonged to Kuro and set sail again.

Zoro, fully bandaged thanks to Coby's help, went to rest while he recovered.

After a good rest, Zoro began to wake up, feeling the fresh air on his face.

Kara, on the other hand, was sitting and reading the newspaper.

—You woke up, Sleeping Beauty. I was thinking of throwing a little saltwater on you to see if you'd react —she commented without looking up as she turned the page.

—Tsk. You're quite ruthless —Zoro grumbled, annoyed at having slept so little.

Meanwhile, Coby busied himself exploring the ship, cleaning everything he could.

Sailing on the high seas and unable to train for at least a day due to his injuries, Zoro decided to take the opportunity to learn more about his new boss, so to speak.

—So, that ability of yours… what is it? —he asked as he sat down calmly.

After all, with just a single sneeze, Kara had destroyed the boat they were traveling in. Plus, he perfectly remembered how the wall of Morgan's base had shattered when he first met her.

—Mm? My ability, huh? Do you know what Devil Fruits are? —Kara asked casually, setting the newspaper down on the table beside her.

—Those legendary fruits? Your power comes from that? —Zoro asked, intrigued.

—Not at all —Kara replied, waving her hand dismissively.

—Then why did you bring them up? —Zoro shouted, annoyed, but sat back down as the pain from his wounds flared up.

—Actually, my ability is something like magic. I learned it from an old playboy who liked getting into trouble —Kara said, smiling as she recalled her days in her previous world.

Yes, Kara had been reincarnated twice. The first time was in Earth Land, where, by coincidence, she was born as Cana's twin sister. Although they shared some resemblance, their personalities were completely opposite.

Unlike her sister, who couldn't stand up to their foolish father, Kara dragged him straight to her and kicked him while introducing herself. The entire guild was shocked, even Gildarts, who hadn't expected such a reaction.

Still, Gildarts accepted taking care of both daughters without complaint.

Well, "taking care" in his case basically meant leaving them money and then disappearing to continue taking on missions.

At least this time, whenever he returned, the first thing he did was look for them and spend a few days with them.

During that time, Kara insisted that her father teach her Crush Magic. At first, Gildarts refused, but after confirming that his daughter was compatible with magic, he eventually gave in.

Meanwhile, Cana, just like in the original timeline, preferred Card Magic.

Both quickly learned their respective magics and officially joined Fairy Tail.

Kara lived many adventures alongside her guildmates, becoming one of the strongest S-Class mages, alongside Laxus and Gildarts.

However, as a precaution, she decided to follow the original script of events, intervening only if a guild member was in mortal danger.

Then came the S-Class trial, where Kara was one of the judges while waiting for the arrival of the Black Dragon.

It was supposed that, after everyone had used their magic, the guild's first master would activate one of Fairy Tail's three great magics: the Fairy Sphere. After that, they would return after seven years.

But when Kara saw the dragon's attack and closed her eyes, expecting to wake up after the Fairy Sphere was activated…

...the next thing she knew, she had been reborn as a baby.

And not just that. Now, she was in the world of One Piece.

She had no idea whether the Fairy Sphere had failed and everyone had died… or if only she had disappeared.

She grew up with the constant worry of not knowing if her family was safe.

At one point, she even considered setting out to sea to search for any guild members who might have been reincarnated like her.

When she joined the Marines, she used all her resources to search for people with magical abilities similar to those of Fairy Tail members, but she never found anything.

That tormented her for a long time.

To keep her mind occupied, she began relentlessly hunting pirates.

Soon, her name became synonymous with terror across the seas.

Pirates fled without looking back at the mere mention of Kara being nearby.

She captured countless criminals, risking her health in the process, until she finally realized that her guild wouldn't want to see her destroy herself like that.

Even so, after 28 years, she hasn't lost hope.

Maybe, one day, she could return.

Or perhaps find one of her old comrades.

—Destroying isn't the only thing it does. I can also split into hundreds of little me… want to try? —Kara said, changing the subject to hide the loneliness within her.

—Pass —Zoro replied immediately.

—Coward —Kara muttered before returning to her newspaper.
