One piece: Without a system, I have to survive!

Chapter 92: Chapter 92: Escape and Betrayal: The Final Countdown

The dust from the explosion still hung heavy in the air, the acrid scent of smoke filling the room. Our bodies were battered and bruised, but we had made it out alive. The mission wasn't over, though. We had to escape—there was no time to waste.

Smoker and I held Kong captive as we moved swiftly through the wreckage of the Navy base. The facility was in chaos, alarms blaring as soldiers scrambled to regain control. It was our chance, but it wouldn't last long.

"We don't have much time," Smoker said, his eyes darting around the corridors, ever watchful. "We need to get to the extraction point."

Selene and Shira nodded, each of them on high alert as they kept an eye on our surroundings. The last thing we needed was an ambush. We had to stay ahead of the Navy's response.

Kong, still bound and fuming with anger, struggled in our grip. "You think you've won?" he spat. "The Navy will come for you. You'll never escape."

I glanced at Smoker, and without a word, we both knew what had to be done. The truth was, escaping wasn't going to be enough. If we didn't destroy the Navy's plans and get the information out, everything we'd done would be for nothing.

"Just keep moving," I said, pushing Kong forward. "We'll deal with you later."

⚔🔥🔥🔥

As we moved through the base, I couldn't help but feel the weight of the situation pressing down on me. The plan had been set in motion long before we'd even realized the full extent of the Navy's operation. We were up against something far bigger than we'd ever imagined. And now, we were the only ones standing between the Navy and the world.

"I'm starting to feel like we're walking straight into a trap," Shira muttered, her voice low but steady.

"We won't let them get the best of us," I replied, gritting my teeth. "We've come too far to back down now."

⚔🔥🔥🔥

We reached the extraction point—just outside the crumbling walls of the base—where the helicopter awaited. The rotors were already spinning, the sound of the blades cutting through the air as the pilot readied for takeoff. But as we stepped closer, a chill ran down my spine.

Something wasn't right.

"Get in, now!" Smoker shouted, urging everyone forward.

But as we moved toward the helicopter, I felt a sharp pressure against my back, and before I could react, a cold voice echoed through the air.

"You're not going anywhere."

I turned, my heart sinking as a new figure emerged from the shadows. A tall, cloaked figure with a mask covering their face, stepping into the light. They held a rifle, the barrel trained directly on us.

"It's a trap," I hissed under my breath.

The cloaked figure smirked beneath their mask, their eyes glinting with cold satisfaction. "You're not as clever as you think. You should have known the Navy wouldn't let you escape that easily."

Smoker's hand was already on his weapon, but he knew better than to act without a plan. We were outnumbered, and the situation was precarious. The figure stepped forward, a slow, deliberate pace that seemed to heighten the tension in the air.

"Who are you?" I demanded, keeping my guard up as I looked for a way out of this mess.

The cloaked figure's laugh was chilling. "The question isn't who I am. The real question is, how do you plan to survive this?"

Before I could react, a sudden explosion erupted in the distance. The shockwave rocked the ground beneath us, sending dust and debris flying into the air. The cloaked figure flinched slightly, momentarily distracted. It was enough of an opening for Smoker to make his move.

In an instant, Smoker transformed into his smoke form, and the entire area was engulfed in swirling smoke. The cloaked figure fired a shot blindly into the mist, but it missed. We used the distraction to make a break for the helicopter, each of us rushing forward as the smoke shielded us.

⚔🔥🔥🔥

We scrambled into the helicopter, the doors slamming shut behind us as the pilot gunned the engines. The cloaked figure's figure was left behind, still standing in the smoke, but we were too far ahead. As we lifted off the ground, I could see the Navy base in the distance, now a burning wreck of its former self.

"We're not done yet," I said, watching the flames consume the base. "But at least we're alive."

Smoker turned toward me, his expression unreadable. "We need to make sure this never happens again. The Navy is just the beginning."

I nodded, understanding the weight of his words. What we had just faced wasn't just a battle against the Navy—it was a war. And the true enemy was still out there.

"Get us to the rendezvous point," I said to the pilot. "We need to get this information to the right people."

As the helicopter flew off into the night, the world below us burning with the consequences of what we had uncovered, I couldn't shake the feeling that the battle was far from over.

And soon, we would learn the hard truth about just how deep the Navy's plans ran—and who was truly pulling the strings.
