Chapter 53: Chapter 53: Knock Up Stream

Time came to the next morning.

The sky had just begun to lighten, and the Merry had already sailed to the south of Jaya Island.

By 10 o'clock, the southern sea was still calm. Usopp began to doubt, "Is that Cricket guy messing with us? It's almost noon, and there's no sign of anything yet."

Nico Robin shook her head, continuing to flip through the book in her hands, then spoke, "No. As a descendant of Noland, he hopes more than anyone that someone can find the golden city of Shandora, which was washed up into the sky."

Just then—

Nami's face flushed crimson, her eyes sparkling with excitement as she cried out.

Luffy and the others heard her shout and rushed over. "What's wrong, Nami? What happened?"

"I know how the Knock Up Stream is formed!" Her voice trembled with excitement. "The Knock Up Stream doesn't appear out of nowhere — it's an extreme natural phenomenon!"

Nami quickly grabbed a pen, circled a sea area on the nautical chart, and rapidly explained, "Beneath the sea directly south of Jaya Island, there's an active submarine volcano! This volcano continuously releases high-temperature gases and geothermal energy, causing the surrounding seawater temperature to rise sharply."

Her pen moved across the map as if depicting the volcanic scene beneath the sea. "Due to the special geological structure of the volcanic vent, the erupted energy is sealed within an underground cavern — like a tightly sealed pressure cooker."

Nami's voice grew more and more excited. "When the underwater pressure reaches its limit, the entire cavern acts like a giant water gun filled with high-pressure water. Then — boom!" She violently swung her arm, gesturing a huge column of water shooting skyward. "All the energy explodes in an instant, forming the Knock Up Stream we see!"

"Quick, everyone move — we need to determine the exit point of the volcanic pressure."

"Chopper, monitor the water temperature; tell me about any changes immediately."

"Usopp, go to the crow's nest and observe the curvature of the sea surface."

"Shin'ya, you can stand on the water's surface — help me measure the water depth nearby."

"Sanji, be ready at all times to control the Merry."

"Zoro, prepare to manage the sails."

"According to Cricket's words yesterday, the Knock Up Stream occurs in the morning. It's already past 10 o'clock — we don't have much time. We need to calculate the position as quickly as possible."

"Before the Knock Up Stream erupts, we need to sail into the center of the current and use its kinetic energy to shoot straight into the sky. If we miss the time, we're done for. If the entry angle is wrong, we're also done for."

Time reached 11 o'clock…

Suddenly, an updraft appeared in the air, and the sky grew dim.

Nami, still furiously calculating, felt the change in the air. Combining it with the results of her calculations, she finally pinpointed the location.

"Everyone, quickly head toward the area where the bubbles are rising and anchor the Merry there! Now we just need to wait for the Knock Up Stream to erupt."

Luffy excitedly clenched his fists, leaped up, and shouted, "Merry, full speed ahead!"

Just then, the sea began to tremble violently, and small Knock Up Streams shot into the sky, causing the ship to constantly sway and heave.

Everyone on board stumbled and struggled to stay standing. Shin'ya firmly adhered to the deck with chakra, remaining steady.

He narrowed his eyes, sensing the pressure below with his Observation Haki, and said in a deep voice, "There's no time. Hold on tight — I'll use a Wood Dragon to carry the Merry over."

"Whoosh, whoosh~"

As the Wood Dragon exerted its power, it ignored the small Knock Up Streams and steadily anchored the Merry at the location Nami had confirmed.

Nami's eyes widened, staring intently at the sky, her gaze burning like a flame, excitement sparkling within.

"The wind direction is stable! The cumulonimbus clouds are continuously gathering at the center of the vortex. The Knock Up Stream will appear soon!" Nami shouted, unable to suppress her joy.

Seconds passed like hours as everyone waited nervously.

Finally — ten seconds later, a deafening roar came from deep beneath the sea, like a clap of thunder, shaking the entire ocean surface.

"Boom!! Boom!!"

The sound was like a roar from the underworld, sending shivers through everyone.

Immediately after, the entire sea area was violently stirred by an invisible, colossal force. The once calm surface churned into monstrous waves.

A terrifying, giant vortex formed.

It was bottomless, hundreds of meters wide — as if the ocean opened a swirling mouth, releasing a suffocating, dreadful aura that threatened to swallow all life nearby.

The waves, like a raging beast, spun wildly, forming water walls several hundred meters high — majestic and terrifying.

The Merry seemed tiny amidst the monstrous waves, violently battered as it was dragged toward the center of the vortex.

Nami's face turned grim. She frowned, muttering to herself, "I've never heard of being sucked into a vortex when riding the Knock Up Stream."

Sanji, beside her, was equally nervous. He gritted his teeth. "Don't worry — I'll definitely protect Nami-chan and Robin-chan!"

Robin's face was damp with cold sweat. "This is the first time I've seen a vortex this big."

"Ahhh~ Help! Nooo! We don't want to go to Skypiea anymore — let us go back!" Chopper and Usopp screamed, clinging to each other.

Zoro glanced at them with indifference. "Give it up, you two. It's too late now. Someone's heart already flew to the sky."

In the midst of the growing unease, Luffy's excited laughter rang out across the deck!

He clenched his fists, eyes shining as he fixed his gaze on the sky-swallowing vortex. A wide grin spread across his face as he laughed, "Skypiea, here I come — hahahaha!"

As the Merry neared the very center of the vortex, everything suddenly stopped.

The vortex vanished, the seawater calmed, and the Merry floated quietly on the sea.

"Huh? Did we miss it?" Robin asked uncertainly.

"It's coming! Everyone hold on tight! Don't fall into the sea!" Nami shouted.

In that instant — from calm to vortex to calm again — a huge bulge rose beneath the Merry.

Bang!! A pillar of water erupted skyward.

The roaring current instantly engulfed the Merry. Waves crashed against the deck as the entire ship shot straight into the sky with the water column.

Everyone staggered, buffeted by the fierce winds. The world spun violently around them.

Nami desperately clung to the railing, her face a mix of excitement and shock.

"We did it!! We're caught in the Knock Up Stream!"

"The Merry is rising vertically along the water column!"

Luffy laughed gleefully, raising his hands high. "Haha — this is awesome! We're going to Skypiea for sure!"

But then Sanji's expression darkened, his brows furrowed with unease. "It's not that simple."

Usopp, clinging to the rigging, shrieked. "What? Don't scare me like that!"

Robin's voice turned serious as she felt the Merry's upward motion. "The ship… it's starting to float upward. If this keeps up, we'll be thrown out."

"Nooo! I don't want to die yet! Doctor Kureha — save me!" Chopper wailed, hugging the mast.

Sanji gritted his teeth. "Damn it — at this rate, we'll eventually fall and be smashed to pieces."

"Hey hey — what's the point of saying that now? We came up on a freak updraft," Zoro said flatly.

Usopp was nearly fainting, trembling as he shouted, "It's over! It's over! Look — shipwreck debris is falling from above! That'll be us soon!"

Nami's sharp gaze focused on the currents and wind, calculating swiftly. Moments later, she shouted, "Quick, hoist the sails! This isn't just a water column — it's a Knock Up Stream!"

"And the wind from below is an updraft caused by an enormous underwater steam explosion. Since it's wind, we can sail it!"

"As long as we control the wind and current, we can fly safely. If our opponents are wind and sea — then leave it to me!"

She clenched her fists, her gaze sweeping over everyone. "Who's the navigator of this ship?"

Sanji shouted, adoringly, "It's Nami-swan!"

Zoro grinned. "Brothers — do what Nami says, now!"

"Hoist the sails!" Usopp yelled.

Shin'ya, Zoro, and Luffy all moved quickly, adjusting the Merry's rigging.

"Wind from starboard! Turn to port! Align with the current!" Nami commanded.

Chopper suddenly shouted, "Oh no — we're about to leave the water's surface!"

"Do something, Nami!" Sanji cried anxiously.

"There's no mistake. Everyone hold steady — don't move," Nami declared.

In the next instant, the Merry lurched, breaking free from the water column. The entire ship was now completely airborne, flying toward the clouds above.

"We're flying — hahahaha! Amazing — our ship is flying!" Luffy shouted, his excitement uncontainable.

Sanji's eyes turned to hearts. "Nami-chan, you're incredible! I love you so much!"

Nami's lips curved into a confident, radiant smile. "As long as we ride this wind and current — we can fly as high as we want."

"Hey, Nami — are we close to Skypiea?"

Nami pointed toward the towering cloudbank ahead. "If Skypiea really exists — it'll be beyond those clouds."

Luffy grinned, clenching his fists as excitement surged through him. "What's beyond those clouds? I can't wait — let's go!"

"Full speed ahead — toward those cumulonimbus clouds!"
