Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Fridge with a lock.
Everyone returned to the Merry in high spirits. Luffy raised his hands high and shouted with excitement, "Set sail, my friends! Our destination—the vast, boundless ocean!"
"Ohhh~~!" everyone responded in unison, their voices echoing over the sea.
Suddenly, a waver zipped toward them like a streak of lightning. It was Conis, the angel, riding the waver. Her appearance lit up everyone's faces.
"Hey~ Luffy, I'm here to guide you!" Conis smiled, waving from atop her waver.
Luffy grinned. "Haha! Conis, thank you so much!"
At that moment, Sanji instantly turned into a hopeless romantic, his face filled with admiration as he fawned, "Miss Conis, you're as beautiful as an angel! And your kindness—it's touched my heart!" He squirmed and posed dramatically across the deck.
After linking up, Conis led the Going Merry toward the edge of the sky.
Time passed in the blink of an eye. Two hours slipped by without notice.
They arrived at a stunning location where a brilliant white current stretched before them.
It resembled a silver river pouring down from the heavens, slowly descending toward the world below.
At the edge of the clouds stood a grand, mysterious gate—like a boundary between heaven and earth.
Beyond it, the Blue Sea shimmered faintly.
"Hey~ Luffy, that's the Cloud's End up ahead!" Conis shouted through a megaphone.
Nami's eyes widened. "Wow, we're already at the Cloud's End? That was fast!"
Robin gave a soft sigh. "Yes… I didn't think we'd arrive so quickly." A subtle smile played on her lips, though her eyes betrayed a quiet reluctance.
Luffy, standing at the bow brimming with energy, suddenly went quiet. He lay down at the front of the ship and whispered, "Are we really going down?"
Sanji, cigarette in mouth, looked out solemnly. "It's time. I'm not gonna lie… I'll miss this place."
Zoro, arms crossed as he sat on the railing, stared up at the pristine white sky. "Time to say goodbye to the sea in the sky."
Chopper clutched the railing, his body trembling as he exclaimed, "Skypiea was amazing!"
Nami, facing the gentle Skypiea breeze, fixed her gaze on the vast Cloud's End. "We'll come back someday. That gold in the Golden City—it's mine. I'll come back for it."
Shin'ya smirked. "By the time you come back, that gold might be long gone."
Nami gave a lazy shrug. "Maybe~ Still, it hurts to leave it behind~"
Just then, the Merry—like a lone sailing ship—moved slowly toward the edge of the sky. Its bow sliced through cloud layers, heading straight for the mysterious gate and the world below.
Eventually, the Going Merry passed through the cloud gate, beginning its return to the Blue Sea.
Luffy, who had been quietly brooding, suddenly perked up.
He stood tall at the bow, facing the wind with a bright, infectious grin. He raised a fist and shouted, "Everyone! We're heading back to the Blue Sea! And waiting down there—new adventures!"
But before his words finished echoing, a massive bird shot out of the clouds and slammed down onto him with a loud, "Goo~~ goo-goo~!"
Chopper scratched his head and translated, "It says… not to forget about it."
Nami blinked. "Wait—isn't that the South Bird we brought up here?!"
At that moment, Conis raced over, shouting from the clouds, "Luffy, furl the sails! The Cloud Way is 7 kilometers long! If you don't furl them now, the mast will snap!"
Luffy quickly sprang into action to furl the sails. But before he could fully react, the Merry blasted off like a rocket down the Cloud Way.
Just then, a giant octopus emerged from above, extending its thick tentacles and grabbing hold of the Merry's hull.
Its swollen head ballooned, turning it into a floating parachute, gently guiding the ship downward toward the Blue Sea.
"Don't forget us~ Luffy~ Heiso~~!" Conis called out from above, striking a cute pose.
Ten hours passed in the sky without them realizing. It was already 9 PM.
Everyone had eaten and was now lounging on deck.
"Haha~ Guys, come look! There's light below—we're almost there!" Luffy yelled as he ran from the bow to the railing.
Below them was pitch black—except for one bright point of light, like a distant star.
Just as everyone peered down, the octopus began loosening its grip.
Chopper and Usopp clung to each other in panic, screaming, "Ahhh~! Nooo~ Big Brother Octopus! Don't let go~!"
"Guji~ Guji~!"
Chopper translated. "It says it can't go any lower. If it does, it won't be able to float back up. We need to get ready for a drop."
Bang bang~~
The octopus released all at once and soared skyward.
The Merry dropped like a stone.
Everyone felt weightless. The ship began plummeting at terrifying speed.
"At this rate, we're gonna die for sure!" Usopp screamed, eyes bulging.
Shin'ya quickly used chakra to anchor himself to the deck. But even he knew—at this speed, not even a wood dragon could save them from impact.
"Think… think…" he muttered, deep in thought.
That's when he saw a pair of long, black-stockinged legs step into his view. He slowly looked up. It was Nico Robin.
Shin'ya stared seriously, then gave her legs another glance. "I'm trying to think, and those legs aren't helping my focus, Robin."
Robin chuckled softly. "You like them that much, Shin'ya?" She stepped forward playfully. "Alright, I'll stop teasing. Do you have a plan?"
Her presence reminded him of her ability to grow wings.
Shin'ya's eyes lit up. "I've got it!"
"Wood Release: Glider!"
With a shout, massive wooden wings sprouted from both sides of the Merry. The ship began to glide, gradually reducing its speed.
Now, even though they were falling, it wouldn't be a direct crash. The impact would be minor.
Chopper, Nami, and Usopp all exhaled, the fear finally fading.
Shin'ya looked at Robin, still amazed. "I'm serious—if it weren't for those legs reminding me of your wing technique, I wouldn't have thought of gliding."
Robin smirked. "So just seeing my legs helps you solve life-or-death problems?"
"Only when they're yours, Robin. If they are—then yeah, I can solve anything," Shin'ya replied confidently.
Robin smiled. Before she could answer, Nami walked over.
"Okay, okay. That's enough flirting. Go somewhere else before I throw you overboard. Robin, don't tell me you're actually falling for Shin'ya?"
Robin smiled coyly. "Why not? Who wouldn't like someone capable? Right, Shin'ya?"
Caught off guard, Shin'ya gave a sheepish laugh. He'd never been with a woman in either life—he had zero experience.
Still, he looked at Robin and said seriously, "Uhh… want to give it a try? I've never been with anyone before."
Robin didn't even hesitate. "Sure. Let's give it a shot."
"Robin-chwaaaan! You're falling for that guy? Nooooo!" Sanji cried dramatically, pounding the deck.
Zoro simply glanced over, then chuckled quietly to himself.
As the Merry gently descended toward the sea, the crew finally exhaled in relief.
Usopp released his death grip on the mast. "That was insane! I thought we were goners!"
Chopper flopped onto the railing, still shaken. "I thought we were gonna get squashed like pancakes…"
Nami took a deep breath, then beamed with excitement. "That was terrifying—but we made it! And best of all… we've got at least 700 million Berries' worth of gold! We're rich!"
Luffy perched on the deck railing, eyes sparkling. "Ahahaha! I'm gonna make a giant bronze statue of myself and put it right on the ship!"
Usopp crossed his arms. "Idiot! Why swap gold for bronze? We should buy cannons. Like, twenty of them. Let's arm the Merry!"
Sanji's eyes glimmered. "Nami-chaaaan~ I want a fridge. With a lock."
Luffy immediately scowled. "Lock it?! What if I'm hungry?!"
