Chapter 67: Chapter 67: Vincent Fox's Wrath Shakes the Earth
Whoosh!
The sound of something slicing through the air made Old Ren instinctively turn his head mid-flight.
What he saw froze his undead heart Vincent's furious face was closing in at terrifying speed.
In that instant, Old Ren's fur stood on end in sheer terror.
He dropped straight out of the sky.
Vincent twisted in midair, landed right after him, and stomped hard on his back.
Old Ren let out a garbled cry part pain, part plea.
Vincent looked down at the struggling zombie beneath his foot, face expressionless.
"Looks like you forgot what a beating feels like. One day without it and you think you're top dog again? You mutt really don't learn."
He rolled up his sleeves, revealing fists the size of soup pots.
Then...
Boom!
A fist came down hard on the zombie.
The ground trembled from the impact.
Even back at the dock, Uncle Nate and the others felt the earth shake beneath their feet.
"Aaaaoooh!"
Old Ren howled in agony.
The crowd stared at Vincent in horror.
One punch.
Like an earthquake.
They could hardly believe a human was capable of that kind of strength.
Terrifying.
Boom!
Another punch.
Another tremor.
Old Ren cried out and lashed upward with his claws, trying to strike back.
"Watch out!" Autumn Summer shouted instinctively.
She didn't even know why she warned him Vincent clearly didn't need her help but the words just spilled out.
Not that Old Ren stood a chance.
To Vincent, the zombie's movements were sluggish, almost comically slow.
Without even dodging, Vincent casually caught the claw and twisted.
Crack.
The claw snapped in half.
"Oh? You've got guts now, huh? Daring to fight back? You gonna pay for the clothes you just tore?"
Without another word, Vincent began raining punches down like a storm.
Boom! Boom! Boom...
Each hit shook the dock.
And beneath that barrage, Old Ren howled pitifully as he was beaten into the dirt.
It was brutal.
So brutal, Old Ren eventually couldn't even scream.
Uncle Nate and the captives looked on, horrified. Their scalps tingled.
Monster.
This was a true monster.
A flying zombie meant nothing in front of Vincent.
It wasn't until now that Uncle Nate finally understood this young man didn't use spells or rituals to control the undead.
No.
He ruled them with sheer violence.
That was why the zombie feared him so deeply.
"My God... is he some kind of angel?" one of the Westerners murmured.
"No, angels aren't this terrifying. He's the god of war Ares!" another replied.
A few Japanese officers whispered among themselves.
"By the grace of Amaterasu... this man is terrifying."
"His strength is beyond mortal limits..."
"What do we do now? Are we really going to take him to the island? That's where our people are..."
"Hanma Yujiro... maybe it's time we sacrifice ourselves to protect the goddess."
"It looks like that's our only choice..."
They seemed to forget that Autumn Summer was right there.
Like Vincent, she could understand every language they spoke.
But Autumn was smart. She acted like she hadn't heard anything.
She would leave it to Vincent to deal with.
Not long after...
Vincent dragged Old Ren back to the dock by one leg like a dead dog.
"Uncle Nate, I'm in a rush. If you've got nothing else to say, head home."
He didn't wait for a response.
Uncle Nate looked like he wanted to speak but ultimately said nothing.
What could he even say?
Worried that the flying zombie would bring disaster?
Not with Vincent around.
There was no room for the undead to stir up trouble.
"You three, load up those corpses," Vincent ordered the captives, pointing at the bodies of the Martial Saint Academy students.
Most had been killed by Old Ren.
Leave them out here, and they'd definitely turn.
Aboard the cargo ship, there were plenty of corpses too.
Vincent ordered the captives to clean those up as well and pile them into the storage bay.
Once they turned, he'd kill them one by one.
Then...
The ship rumbled to life, belching thick smoke as it sailed slowly into the open sea.
Uncle Nate watched it go, sighed heavily, and left with a heavy heart.
…
At that moment, in the ship's finest room
Vincent smiled and said, "Now you can finally get some rest. Lock the door behind you later. Don't worry, with me here, you'll be safe."
As he turned to leave, Autumn suddenly grabbed his hand.
Vincent blinked, smiling. "What's this? Want me to stay with you?"
Her cheeks flushed. "Idiot. I have something to tell you."
"Oh? Go on. I'm all ears."
"Back at the dock, I overheard those Japanese officers. They're planning to sabotage the ship and sink it in the middle of the ocean..."
Autumn gave him a long, serious look. "They think you're the reincarnation of some demon king. They're planning to go down with the ship to take you with them."
"Got it. Thanks."
As he left the room, Vincent's eyes turned icy.
Good thing he'd run into those Westerners earlier.
Otherwise, he really might've walked into a trap.
