Chapter 428: 379. Dorothy's Alchemy_3
Facing the skepticism of her two closest friends, Dorothy indeed had plenty to say in her defense.
According to Senior Mia and Audrey, they could rely on their own Alchemy to craft the furniture needed for the renovation by hand.
After all, it's common for witches to craft what they lack during renovations, and simple furniture making doesn't require a high level of Alchemy skill. Almost any witch can do it. At most, some make it a bit rough or ugly, while others manage more refined and ornate creations.
However, Dorothy disagreed with their view. The homebody witch had a more long-term vision – she decided to start by crafting an advanced alchemy workshop by hand.
Of course, their Witch's Home was essentially a construction guild, planning to take on commissions in the future. She was patient enough to handcraft furniture for her own home, but once they started receiving orders, she couldn't possibly handcraft everything – that would exhaust her.
This wouldn't do; thus, to solve the problem once and for all, an automated, modular Alchemy Workshop capable of mass-producing various types of furniture materials was essential.
There were plenty of building materials left over from what Senior Mia had brought, all of high quality. Dorothy checked and believed there should be enough to put together an entire advanced alchemy workshop.
Well, it wasn't that she had been coveting Spider Teacher's advanced workshop for a long time, but she simply couldn't afford it before she owned a house. Now that she had bought one, she just couldn't hold back any longer,
Well, absolutely not – she truly was considering the future, all right?
"Fine then, as long as you're happy, Little Fairy."
Seeing her beloved person being so stubborn, Senior Mia didn't oppose it any longer. She rolled her eyes and reluctantly chose to indulge the Little Fairy.
What she wanted to say was that handcrafting was too hard on the Little Fairy. If she really wanted an alchemy workshop, then she would bring over a few of the latest mobile workshops tomorrow.
After all, the Astoros Family had its roots in Alchemy, and they had plenty of workshops. Senior Mia had several top-notch private workshops herself, and she could bring a few over for the Little Fairy if she needed them.
But seeing the Little Fairy's stubbornness, Senior Mia shut her mouth. The Little Fairy had even been reluctant to accept building materials from her, so it was unlikely she would want an Alchemy Workshop. So as long as the Little Fairy was happy, then that was fine.
For now, she watched the Little Fairy's efforts with curiosity, as this was her first time seeing someone handcraft a workshop.
Though Alchemy Workshops were certainly man-made, craftsmanship specialized, and the various precise alchemy instruments within were not something that an average alchemist could create. Those had to be produced by alchemy societies dedicated to manufacturing such instruments.
It's like how factories use machine tools to produce various items, but some factories specialize in producing the machine tools themselves.
Alchemy is a complex and profound field. In legend, the most skilled alchemists should possess the creator-like omnipotence, freely molding all things.
But such a level is too elusive. Most alchemists actually specialize in only one or two areas, like how Mia's family has been focused on gold Alchemy for generations.
As for the technology to craft various alchemy instruments, that's the exclusive expertise of alchemy societies that specialize in this business. Regular people not in this field wouldn't bother researching such things; they just buy an instrument and learn how to use it.
Although alchemists, as scholarly professionals, must be sufficiently curious, they haven't even mastered their own fields yet, so there's little energy to learn something new.
However...
Senior Mia was aware of the Little Fairy's achievement in mastering all nine systems – such an omnipotent being would naturally have exceptional skills in Alchemy. But it seemed she had never asked the Little Fairy what area of Alchemy she specialized in.
Uh, it couldn't really be focused on manufacturing instruments, could it?
"Little Fairy, what area of Alchemy do you specialize in? I always thought you were into Puppets or Earthworks, but now it seems like you're skilled in the precision instruments field,"
Senior Mia couldn't help her curiosity and asked.
Though it's a bit impolite among witches to ask such things, as it could seem like prying into secrets, it's fine for close witch friends to inquire.
"Of course, if it's not too convenient to answer, just pretend I didn't ask,"
Senior Mia quickly added.
"There's nothing inconvenient about it. I don't really have a specialty. I like to learn a bit of everything, but if I had to say what I'm particularly good at, it would probably be shipbuilding?"
Dorothy scratched her head and then recalled a not-so-pleasant memory.
Honestly, her current obsession with alchemy workshops was due to the equipment in the shipyard in that warship game – it had been very useful. That game was also her introduction to the field of alchemical manufacturing.
Though it was a strategy game, Dorothy always played it as a farming development game. She wasn't very keen on fighting and preferred to hole up in the shipyard and build ships. Watching Legendary Spirit Battleships being birthed under her hands gave her a great sense of accomplishment.
The reason she quit the game was not only because that shameless Fish Bomber drove her into seclusion but also because she had achieved the full catalogue of accomplishments. The game was effectively 'completed' for her – a peace-loving science player like her didn't really love warfare.
After that episode of seclusion, though, she did go back and brush up on her military strategy. She knew enough to handle herself. If she faced that Fish Bomber again, she could make him question his life, for with her talent for Multitasking, she was naturally skilled in micromanagement.
But let's leave the past in the past; those were her days at six or seven, and looking back, it was all quite amusing.
Moreover, the shipbuilding in the game was just like that – she actually wanted to build ships in reality now.
It's just a pity...
