Chapter 153: Breaking into the Scene! (Subscribe for Updates)
Pei Yan and his team took the elevator to the scene of the incident. Ye Jiumu kept his head down, watching the changes inside the house on his phone screen. As the group tiptoed out of the elevator doors, Hu Wenjun leaned against the sides of the security door and gave Wang Wenze a look.
Wang Wenze nodded, fingers gently manipulating the colorful liquid that had been infiltrated into the house beforehand, forming five giant pythons. The three hostages watched in terror as the pythons surrounded the five people inside the house securely.
Seeing that the protective measures were in place, Hu Wenjun patted Pei Yan on the shoulder. Upon receiving the order, Pei Yan placed his hand on the security door. The metal liquid seeped into it. He did not use a key to open the door this time because surveillance had revealed that the opponent had locked an additional layer inside, so for safety and quick advancement, he directly engulfed the entire security door.
After a faint glow flashed, the security door that had been blocking everyone was quickly absorbed into Pei Yan's body. Hu Wenjun and Ye Jiumu shot forward into the room.
In the bathroom, Song Mingyuan finally sensed that something was amiss. He abandoned his work and dashed out, noticing the speed of the intruders. Without a second thought, he raised his hands, and over a dozen electric arcs flashed towards Ye Jiumu and Hu Wenjun.
Then he took a step toward the little girl tied to a chair, intending to grab her as a hostage. But at that moment, the giant python guarding the girl opened its blood-red mouth and shot towards Song Mingyuan's neck without hesitation.
Song Mingyuan was clearly startled by the sudden monster, but his psychological stability allowed him to quickly regain composure. He dodged the python's bite and transformed his left hand into an electric knife, aiming for the snake's neck.
Unfortunately, before the electric knife could strike, a faint gunshot rang out.
"Ah!" Song Mingyuan looked at his palm, wrapped with the inner source, incredulous as it dissipated on impact, leaving a bullet wound! He didn't believe it! He had tested his inner source many times externally and was confident that such defense power could withstand a typical bullet shooting!
Who exactly were these people? As he turned his head, he saw a young man with one eye replaced by a mechanical device, raising a mechanical arm equipped with a large revolver aiming coldly at his head.
Just in that moment, Ye Jiumu and Hu Wenjun successfully completed the hostage rescue, shielding the three hostages within a protection range. Hu Wenjun casually tossed out a Jiezhi Space, enveloping Song Mingyuan inside.
Upon a flash of light, Song Mingyuan watched the pure white world in shock and then noticed two women and one man, three police officers standing in front of him. He realized he had encountered people similar to himself!
These people weren't ordinary police!
Song Mingyuan didn't panic but rather asked excitedly, "Who exactly are you?"
"Don't pretend. You should already have guessed who we are. You've committed a crime, Song Mingyuan," Pei Yan said, strides forward, took off his police cap and tossed it aside, adjusting his necktie with disdain.
Upon hearing this, Song Mingyuan turned his head and sneered, "Can you police come up with new lines? What have I done? Enlighten me?" As he spoke, his palms instinctively clenched and released, countless electric arcs continually flickered between them.
Xia Yu and Zhao Yuanhu stood behind Pei Yan without approaching for questioning. Through the notebook, they had roughly understood the scope of Song Mingyuan's abilities, and having confidence in Pei Yan to subdue him, they stood silently, waiting for the battle's conclusion.
"You can't claim you didn't commit the dormitory massacre, can you? Even if you deny that case, how do you explain what's happening here?" Pei Yan finished speaking and tossed his tie aside, rubbed his strangling neck, and asked.
Song Mingyuan stretched out his palms, gazing narcissistically at the jumping electric arcs with indifference, "Oh, you mean that incident, I admit it. So what? It's just a few deaths!"
"Just a few deaths? In your eyes, lives are so worthless? And they were your roommates. Did they offend you so severely to deserve such a cruel hand, committing such a gruesome murder!" Xia Yu questioned with a frown, standing behind Pei Yan.
Song Mingyuan answered indifferently, facing Xia Yu's inquiry, "What's the big deal? Just three lives! Aren't people dying every day in this world? They dared to move my notebook and insult me, so why not teach them a lesson to remember for the next life who they can mess with, who they can't!"
Recalling Zhang Zhenghao secretly tampering with his notebook before returning to the dorm, then loudly reading its contents in front of other roommates, mocking him for his nerdiness and how they looked after being electrocuted, a thrill surged through Song Mingyuan. This feeling of reckless power over life and death was exactly what his repressed self desired.
"Just for this, you killed them, chopped off their heads, gutted them, and even ate their hearts? Are you insane!" Hearing the reason, Pei Yan stared at him like he was mad, scrutinizing the person only slightly older than him. Just for a few mocking words, he killed people—how much malice was in his heart? Even severely beating the opponents wouldn't lead to killing, let alone doing something so cruel!
Song Mingyuan appeared momentarily stunned, squinted at Pei Yan, and ended up laughing out loud.
Pei Yan gritted his teeth, clinched his fist, and asked, "Do you find what I said funny?"
"Young officer, I checked their corpses afterward. I admit I killed them with an electric shock, and I admit they perhaps didn't deserve to die. I was overly impulsive at the moment. But I'm not a cannibal, nor did I dismember them to consume their hearts. Your police should at least target the right people with your stories!" Song Mingyuan looked at Pei Yan, responding disdainfully.
Pei Yan paused and turned to look back at the two; seeing them equally shocked, Zhao Yuanhu stepped forward to question, "Then how do you explain the patterns in your notebook matching the corpse arrangement at the crime scene?"
"What patterns? I was indeed flustered and left my notebook in the dorm, but what patterns are you talking about?" Looking at the three's expressions, Song Mingyuan vaguely sensed they probably weren't joking, could they be speaking the truth?
Pei Yan didn't say more, taking out his phone and transmitting the footage captured by his Mechanical Eye to it, tossing it to Song Mingyuan, "See for yourself."
Song Mingyuan took the phone doubtfully, opened the video for a few minutes, then turned pale, covering his mouth as he fought back breakfast about to heave from his stomach.
"This, this wasn't me! Who framed me!"
