Chapter 503: Evolving into a Tenth Rank Life
For some unknown reason, when the screams of the Black Sky Lord echoed throughout the Citadel, all the Black Angels started making a strange noise.
This noise was not one of panic or haste, but more like the gleeful laughter of little devils delighting in the calamity.
It was as if a group of outwardly loyal servants had fallen into madness after suffering all kinds of humiliation and trampling, until they saw their high and mighty master enduring the same torment before others. Then their madness somehow became clearer, and they felt genuine pleasure from within!
Wu Hen increased the voltage, morphing into Emperor Yongxin, and returned the tactile pain he had just experienced to the Black Sky Lord a hundredfold...
Indeed, the Black Sky Lord's past was one of pampered luxury.
His true flesh and skin simply couldn't withstand this level of voltage; he was pierced and torn by Thunder Tusk, his muscles and bones crushed under the weight of Ten Thousand Thunder Hooves, and his internal organs shattered by Thunder Roar.
Meanwhile, the sharp, crow-like laughter of the surrounding Black Angels rose up like a gathering of Evil Spirits, chanting Hell's Funeral Song. These bizarre sounds also entered the ears of the Black Sky Lord, who was suffering from the violent "draw and quarter" torture. Even in his last moments, he could not find peace, adding a layer of insult to his grandiose and painful death.
Finally, the Black Sky Lord was torn apart, turning into chunks of charred flesh that fell from a height, sticking to the ground.
On the command platform, Marquis Changqiu saw a chunk of flesh, from some unknown part, fly over and hit his cheek. He was too afraid to even dodge, letting the rotten flesh cover his face like a greasy mask.
His whole body began to shake, and though his eyes were covered, he felt safer that way; but his ears picked up the terrifying footsteps of Wu Hen approaching him.
Marquis Changqiu knelt down with a thud; he didn't want to experience the Execution Chair like the Black Sky Lord.
"My... my fingers have healed, you... you broke them all..."
"And my toes, yes, yes, you can break my toes too..."
"Kneecaps, elbow joints, as long as it satisfies you, you may do whatever you wish with me, but please spare my life!"
Marquis Changqiu kept kowtowing and begging for mercy. Though he was dressed in noble silk robes, he had even less backbone than the Scavengers and refugees picking up trash outside, his pleading pose utterly ridiculous.
It still had to be an elite of the Wasteland, whether it was the nobility or the baseness of humanity, portrayed in extreme detail.
"Fine, seeing as you're so earnest, I'll only break one part of you." Wu Hen nodded.
Upon hearing this, a flicker of hope passed through Marquis Changqiu's fearful eyes.
But when Wu Hen reached for his neck and cleanly broke it, the last expression Marquis Changqiu showed was one of astonishment and anger, surpassing even the pain...
The Black Sky Lord and Marquis Changqiu were dead, but this massacre would not end there.
The Mutant Royal Species had their killing genes altered, and they would thoroughly massacre every Black Angel in sight.
This battle was destined to last a very long time, as the creatures at the top of the Wasteland's Life Pyramid possessed powerful self-healing abilities, even the power to resurrect.
Wu Hen had completed his mission, and all he had to do next was to quietly enjoy the process like watching an Epic Level blockbuster, quietly waiting for the outcome.
Of course, Wu Hen had some expectations.
He was expecting that after the Black Sky Lord's death, the hidden Law maker would show up.
After all, the difficulty of killing this Black Sky Lord wasn't too high, not quite fitting for a God of the Wasteland.
Wu Hen quietly waited, waiting for a powerful hidden existence to appear in order to restore the situation to its original state, and in a fit of rage, wipe out all those who had muddied the waters, then return order to the Law he had set.
However, Wu Hen waited a day and a night.
Countless Black Angels had fallen, and the Holy Hall area behind Snow Mountain was largely overrun by the Mutant Royal Species, but still, no one from a higher plain appeared.
"Could it be that they sensed danger and fled as soon as we attacked?" Wu Hen started to speculate, "Or perhaps, the Black Sky Lord was the highest ruler here. After all, if Dai Jing didn't use the Mutant Royal Species, it would be quite unlikely to destroy his Black Angel Army."
A huge roar erupted.
In an area less than five hundred meters from Wu Hen, the continually evolving Emperor Horror Crocodile blasted open the base inside the Citadel.
Inside the base were all the influential nobles of the Wasteland and "investors" from otherworldly domains. They were even holding wild parties in the inner base; every glamorous ruler dressed up like a Beast, chaotically pursuing those seductive "little lambs" in the inner mountain base. Once caught, those little lambs would suffer greatly.
Wu Hen glanced at the mountain base, sighing at the mentality of these Wasteland elites.
The outside was a total bloodbath, yet it did not affect their merriment.
What defined the true Wasteland elite when the end of the world came was that on that day, they needed to fulfill both the physical and spiritual satisfaction a hundred percent, for, with the regular consumption of Life Pearls, they didn't have to worry about their vitality running low.
As the impregnable base door was destroyed, the dignitaries inside finally showed a hint of panic.
Soon, more and more Mutant Royal Species sensed the presence of high-class living beings inside, and after expending lots of energy in the battle against the Black Angels, they were ravenous, in need of replenishing life proteins.
The Mutant Royal Species had been implanted with a priority for slaughter; indeed, they prioritized hunting Black Angels, but that didn't mean they were foolish enough to pursue death once their energy was depleted.
Having feasted, they would indulge in a delightful slaughter with the Black Angels!
Thus, the powerful beings among the Emperor Species continued to fight the Black Angels for supremacy as the strongest species. Those whose powers were exhausted flooded into various areas of Citadel, which was already saturated with various forms of "high tech", many of which were the ultimate energy sources needed by those Mutant Royals...
Many Mutant Royals realized they could first plunder the "Lower Market" to strengthen themselves before battling the Black Angels in the sky.
Soon, powerful Mutant Royals swarmed into the fortresses of Citadel.
It just so happened that a chase game was being held there, and the participation of the Mutant Royals made the game more authentic and thrilling. They weren't just simulating the wildness of beasts—they were Hellish Beasts, and those officials and nobles caught by these Hellish beasts were truly suffering the worst fate!
"No way, who's playing so wildly to let mother Aliens in? I'm not into that," said a fair and handsome noble as he removed his mask, looking perplexedly at the upright lizard Mutant Royal before him.
The skin of this upright lizard Mutant Royal was as delicate and smooth as a woman's, and as it evolved to a higher level, its biological aesthetics improved as well...
It seemed that this royal upright lizard took a liking to the fair and handsome noble, pouncing on him and clamping onto his chest with its jaws, using its barbed tongue to gouge out his heart.
The noble didn't die immediately, his eyes filled with shock and pain.
It wasn't until his blood gushed back into his throat, causing him to choke to death on it, that he realized without the protection of the solid fortress, he was no different from those frail and lowly refugees outside; to a predator, he was just a piece of meat!
...
Wu Hen wasn't actually just squatting in an open area to watch.
He had scavenged around and indeed found some good items.
Having killed the Black Sky Lord, all of the Black Sky Lord's possessions now belonged to him.
"Just a Tenth-ranked Life Pearl?"
After locating the Black Sky Lord's secret vault, Wu Hen couldn't help feeling somewhat disappointed.
The Black Sky Lord had been tricking him all along.
His most prized possession was just a Tenth-ranked Life Pearl; there was no Super Tenth Rank Life God Pearl, at least not within this Citadel.
After stepping out of the vault, Wu Hen saw some fresh fruit in the Black Sky Lord's large study.
Outside was full of haze and flying flesh, but here it was relatively quiet and comfortable. Wu Hen simply lay down on the sofa, intending to pair the fruit with the Life Pearl to complete his Tenth Rank evolution right there.
Wu Hen was currently Eighth Rank.
But he was confident he could leap ranks.
He was filling in the gaps, not breaking through limits. If he gave the Tenth-ranked Life Pearl to Guo Hong or Lu Xian, they would at most reach Ninth Rank, as they had yet to stand at the higher ground. Each breakthrough came with loss, and a Tenth-ranked Life Pearl couldn't let a Seventh or Eighth Rank life immediately scale to Tenth Rank.
Having consumed the Life Pearl, he also ate a pear to remove the gamy taste.
He thought his body would only flash with light, and then like a game character, he would ascend to Tenth Rank, with all attributes turning red and rising. However, fine Life Silks began sprouting densely from Wu Hen's pores!
These Life Silks first turned Wu Hen into a human-shaped kiwi, and then wrapped around his entire body, transforming him into a cocoon lying on the sofa.
The Life Silks were crystal clear, not the sticky kind like silkworm threads. Even as they completely enveloped Wu Hen's body, they appeared like Glazed Ice condensed on the outside.
Wu Hen's Perception temporarily failed. All that was left were his eyes, wide open and unable to close, yet his gaze could see through the Glazed Life Cocoon to view the situation of the Secret Study Room.
"What's going on, have I become a frozen man?" Wu Hen was immensely baffled.
His body felt nothing at all, and he was clueless about which organ was evolving, while his thinking remained extremely lucid, yet he was incapable of doing anything.
He just hoped the Mutant Royals wouldn't find this place, otherwise, they would see him as a Glazed Human Egg to be swallowed whole, which would be troublesome!
"Click clack~"
Worry attracts exactly what one fears.
As Wu Hen was in his "evolution" state, the sound of a key turning echoed from a corner of the Secret Study Room.
Wu Hen glanced sideways, straining to look towards the source of the sound, only to see a hidden hatch the size of a dog flap opening above the fireplace. A delicate face with brows and hair stained with blood peeked out first. After carefully confirming there were no "living people" or "monsters" in the Secret Study Room, the owner of the face cautiously crawled out.
The woman glanced at the Glazed Life Cocoon on the sofa but didn't pay much attention to it, as there were many artistically shaped Life Cocoons in the room.
"I can see her, but she can't see me from outside?" Wu Hen couldn't help being curious as he sized up the woman who had used the secret passage to sneak into the Black Sky Lord's study, "What is she up to, taking advantage of the chaos to steal the Black Sky Lord's possessions?"
