Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Darkness Before Dawn
The morning sun, filtering through the thin gaps in the curtains, cast a scattering of light spots on the floor, like a sprinkling of gold dust across the room.
Chen Mo woke up early. He had tossed and turned all night, sleep-deprived, yet his eyes held a spark of excitement and determination. He wasn't simply unable to sleep, he was too excited to rest.
He quickly washed up, changed into clean clothes, then grabbed his phone and sent a message to Li Qiang: "Qiangzi, I've decided. I'm going to help Lin Yuhan."
The message was barely sent when Li Qiang's call came through.
"You finally came to your senses?" Li Qiang's voice held a mix of relief and worry. "I knew you wouldn't let me down!"
"Yeah, I've made up my mind," Chen Mo said, his voice firm. "Some things have to be done, right?"
"Good for you!" Li Qiang exclaimed. "I knew you were a guy with a strong sense of justice!"
"But," Li Qiang's tone suddenly turned serious. "Be careful. Wang Fatty is no pushover, and he has people behind him. Don't underestimate him."
"I know, I'll be careful," Chen Mo said. "Don't worry, I'll be fine."
"Okay, just be careful," Li Qiang said. "If you need anything, just ask. I'll go through fire and water for you, my brother!"
"Good brother!" Chen Mo felt a warmth in his heart. He knew that no matter what happened, he had Li Qiang as a strong support behind him.
After hanging up the phone, Chen Mo took a deep breath and stepped out of his house, heading towards the meeting spot with Lin Yuhan.
He knew that a major battle was about to begin...
The morning streets were bustling with traffic and hurrying pedestrians, a scene of constant activity.
Chen Mo arrived at the meeting spot to find Lin Yuhan already waiting.
She was wearing a black business suit, her hair pulled back in a high bun, her face adorned with delicate makeup. She looked professional and elegant, a far cry from the girl he had met at the internet cafe the day before.
"You're here," Lin Yuhan smiled slightly, motioning for him to sit down.
"Yeah," Chen Mo nodded, taking a seat opposite her, his gaze involuntarily drawn to her clear, deep eyes.
"Want anything to drink?" Lin Yuhan asked.
"No, thanks," Chen Mo shook his head. All he could think about was Wang Fatty, and he had no appetite for coffee.
"Since you've agreed to help me, let's talk about the plan," Lin Yuhan said, getting straight to the point.
"Okay," Chen Mo nodded, ready to listen.
"I know you're skilled in network technology, so I need you to hack into Wang Fatty's company system and find evidence of his crimes," Lin Yuhan said. "I already have some leads, but I need you to dig deeper."
"No problem," Chen Mo said confidently. "Give me enough time and I'll find what you need."
"Good," a hint of appreciation flashed in Lin Yuhan's eyes. "Here's the information about Wang Fatty's company's network security. Take a look."
With that, Lin Yuhan pulled a file from her briefcase and handed it to Chen Mo.
Chen Mo took the file and began to carefully examine it. His expression gradually grew serious...
The morning sunlight streamed through the coffee shop's floor-to-ceiling windows, illuminating the table and the densely packed text and charts on the file. It felt like a foreshadowing of the imminent, unseen war.
Chen Mo furrowed his brow, his gaze hawk-like as he scanned every line of the document, searching for a breakthrough. This file was more complex than he had imagined. Wang Fatty's company's network security system was practically impenetrable, each firewall as strong as a fortress, with a professional team monitoring it 24/7. Any trace of intrusion would be detected instantly.
"How is it? Do you think you can do it?" Lin Yuhan watched Chen Mo's serious expression, her voice soft, carrying a hint of underlying tension.
"It's a bit tricky." Chen Mo put down the file and rubbed his temples. To be honest, he had never encountered such a tough nut to crack. "This network security system is very advanced, and it's maintained by a professional team. It's going to be difficult to hack in without being detected."
"I know it's hard, but you have to find a way!" Lin Yuhan's voice suddenly became urgent. "This is my last chance. If we can't bring Wang Pangzi to justice, I... I..."
She choked back the rest of her words, her eyes welling up with tears. But she forced herself to hold back the tears.
Chen Mo looked at the girl before him, this outwardly gentle but inwardly strong woman, and felt a pang of sympathy. He reached out and lightly patted her hand, offering comfort. "Don't worry, I promised I'd do it, and I will!"
Lin Yuhan raised her tear-filled eyes to meet Chen Mo's gaze, her heart filled with gratitude and hope.
"But," Chen Mo paused for a moment. "I need some time to prepare, and I need your cooperation."
"What do you need me to do?" Lin Yuhan asked without hesitation. "As long as we can bring Wang Fatty to justice, I'll do anything you ask!"
"I need you to help me..."
Chen Mo leaned closer to Lin Yuhan's ear and whispered his plan...
