Chapter 2: Chapter 2: The Leap of Madness
Ren's car soared through the air.
For a split second, everything went silent. No roaring engines. No screeching tires. Just the void beneath him and the rapidly approaching track ahead.
His gut clenched. The gap was too wide—he wasn't going to make it.
A split-second decision.
—Absolute Calibration Activated—
Processing… Adjusting…
Ren's grip tightened on the wheel. His cheat ability had already mapped the optimal landing angle.
His tires needed to hit the edge at precisely 17.4 degrees. Any more and he'd spin out. Any less and he'd bounce off into oblivion.
His body reacted automatically.
He twisted the wheel mid-air, angling the car perfectly. The front wheels hit the track first, the rear following a fraction of a second later.
Screech!
The car skidded violently, tires screaming against the surface. The back end threatened to spin out—
Ren counter-steered.
Tch! Not yet—hold it—
The moment stretched endlessly… then the car stabilized.
Ren let out a sharp breath.
He made it.
A loud explosion behind him.
He glanced at his rear mirror—half of the racers didn't. Their cars plummeted into the abyss, vanishing into the swirling energy below.
A mechanical voice crackled from his dashboard.
"Warning: 12 Racers Remaining."
Ren's jaw clenched. Eight racers gone in just one jump? This world is insane.
But there was no time to process it.
A shadow loomed over him.
Another racer.
A sleek silver car with razor-thin aerodynamic edges had caught up to him. It moved like a phantom, hugging the track perfectly, its movements eerily smooth.
A name flashed on Ren's HUD.
[Ryoji Takasuke – Rank: 2]
Second place?!
Before Ren could react, Ryoji's car slid to his side, matching his speed perfectly.
A voice crackled through his comms. Deep, calm, and deadly.
"You're interesting. But you don't belong here."
Ren's instincts screamed at him.
He's about to attack!
In the next second, Ryoji jerked his wheel sharply.
Ren's car shook violently as Ryoji's vehicle clipped his rear bumper—
An intentional pit maneuver.
Ren's car spiraled out of control.
The world twisted. His vision blurred.
The track—gone.
All he could see was the abyss below.
Shit—!
