Overtake: Reincarnated in the Racing Realm

Chapter 5: Chapter 5: Overtake or Die

Ren's speed surged past 400 km/h.

The track blurred. Wind resistance screamed against his car, but his grip on the wheel was steady.

Ryoji was just ahead.

First place was right there.

But then—

Ryoji's car shifted.

A perfect defensive maneuver.

Instead of speeding up, he adjusted his position, blocking Ren's line.

Ren's eyes flicked to his HUD.

"WARNING: Collision Imminent."

Tch.

Even with his cheat, a frontal overtake was impossible.

Time to improvise.

Ren's fingers tapped the console.

—Absolute Calibration: Terrain Adaptation Activated—

His HUD flickered, scanning every inch of the road ahead.

A micro-bump on the right side—barely noticeable.

To an ordinary racer? It was nothing.

But to Ren? It was everything.

A natural ramp.

A launch point.

Ren didn't hesitate.

He adjusted his position—drifting slightly right.

Ryoji immediately reacted, shifting to block again.

But it was too late.

Ren's wheels hit the bump.

VRRRROOOOM!

His car lifted off the ground.

A jump.

Right over Ryoji's car.

"What?!"

For a split second, he was airborne—weightless.

Then—impact.

Ren's car slammed onto the track right in front of Ryoji.

The system blared:

[POSITION UPDATE: 1ST PLACE]

He did it.

He overtook him mid-air.

But Ryoji's voice crackled over comms.

"…Impressive. But you still don't get it, do you?"

Ren's instincts flared.

Something was wrong.

Then—

Ryoji's car disappeared.

—!?!?

Not slowed down. Not accelerating. Vanished.

Ren's HUD went wild.

"ERROR: Unable to Track Opponent."

A chill ran down his spine.

What the hell is this?!

Then, in his side mirror—

A silver blur materialized out of thin air.

Ryoji had reappeared.

But not behind him.

Right beside him.

A deep voice rumbled through the comms.

"Welcome to real racing."

And then he slammed into Ren's car.
