Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 1036: Brilliant!

"Ah, finally! Civilisation!" with a heavy sigh, Louizon stepped out from behind trees, for some reason, instead of appearing with Griar and Lizi, she had shown up in some random plain, and had been walking in a straight for the past thirty minutes or so, having not seen a single living being this entire time, only some randomly scattered bear traps and pits probably meant to ensnare wild animals.

At least, she hoped that those were meant for animals, because if not, they were meant for really stupid people as those traps could not be placed in more obvious manner- In fact, thinking that they might have been put here with hopes of catching someone like her filled the young woman with anger.

That would be tantamount to questioning her intelligence- No, that would be straight up an insult to her wrinkly brain!

"Herejak!"

"Huh? Oh, didn't see you there"

She glanced at a man dressed like a farmer and holding a pitchfork, the same one who had just shouted a random word at her instead of saying hello like a normal person, before he could even take a step forward, she snapped her fingers at him, and it was like an invisible wall smashed into him at a thousand kimoleters, he just exploded.

He blew up so hard that his blood instantly evaporated, leaving nothing but the vague smell of burnt flesh and hair behind.

Naturally, Louizon was well aware of the restrictions on mana usage in this realm, Griar had told her about that many times, so naturally, the first thing she had done upon arriving was testing it out, as after all, as per her younger brother's own words, it wasn't that one was prohibited from casting multiple spells in quick succession, and more-so that inner energy would grow sluggish after manifesting a spell.

This could be circumvented by simply casting a spell that lasted through time, and thus, did not come to an end, which would not count as a spell being completely casted, that method would work without question, but Louizon did not like simplicity, she wanted to grab the rules of that realm and twist their sensitive parts until they gave in to her will!

Little rules might be able to restrain others, but they could do nothing about someone who is brilliant! And as it turns out, that so-called restriction was laughably easy to overcome, maybe not for everyone, but Louizon was not everyone, she was a most glorious mage.

It was something she did not know was possible until today, but the reason inner energy became so sluggish in this realm is because here, energies were held to a different way of working, for people from outside the realm, it might seem like a mindless restriction, but the truth was that when casting a spell in this realm, energy would 'heat-up', like a machine getting started, and once the spell was casted the energy would then grow colder, making it move slowly.

The solution was thus simple, you just needed to understand how the realm's mechanism functioned, and find a way to keep your inner energy from growing sluggish in the first place.

With her affinity for blast magic, Louizon was actually quite close to the fire element, so figuring out how to 'heat-up' her internal mana had been prodigiously simple.

"Ahah" she laughed to herself after blasting the farmer's entire existence to nothingness, taking a few steps forward.

'Mmh? How did I miss that thing?' she turned to see a large castle, just looming over the entire area, with how big it was, she should have been able to see from much further away, but it seemed like the mist in the area was simply abnormal despite not possessing an ounce of magic.

"Herejak!"

"Oh, there are more of them…" it did not take long for Louizon to get rid of the villagers in their entirety, she refrained from casting too destructive spells for now as she had no idea where Lizi or Griar were, it would be rather dumb to blast them just because she didn't pay attention.

She was sure they could be fine even if that happened, but just in case.

In the distance, just as she finished dealing with the villagers, the gates to the castle opened, and a bridge fell down, allowing passage over the moat as a group of curiously garbed people came rushing out, or rather, curious for this realm as she had not been expecting robed figures or fully armored knights to come for her here.

"Wow, is this my birthday or something?"

'Did they not see me throw explosions all over the place? Why are they coming at me so densely packed?' she shrugged, and manifested a stronger spell compared to before, previously, she had just been using spells that kept the target area to a single individual, although a blast still occurred, there was little risk of anything other than the unfortunate soul that was being aimed to be harmed in any way.

Here however, Louizon manifested a different spell, a thin line of blast magic descended from the sky in the center of the approaching group, appearing completely harmless at a glance, until it suddenly brightened up, and in an instant, the entire group was engulfed into a blast.

The robed figures were reduced to a single piece of cooked flesh or smouldering fabric, instantly killed, the knight were more fortunate, or unfortunate depending on how you viewed things, their armours were rather resilient, and since Louizon did not go all out on them, some survived thanks to being flung away by the blast, sent flying through the air before crashing upon the ground with heavy thuds.

Their armours battered and caved in, some remained still, seemingly done for, whilst others trembled and rose back to their feet, foul tendrils bursting through the gaps in their armour, or even tearing through the steel entirely.

"I had forgotten about" with how she had dealt with the villagers, there had been no chance for stagnant water to emerge, some of the knights did have that occasion however, beginning to rush toward the blast mage with their new-found, corrupted limbs dragging their broken bodies forward.

Before they could reach her however, they stepped upon concealed mine spells Louizon had placed down just a few moments ago, their power was condensed and forced into a single direction, resulting in the apparent strength of the explosion to be greatly destructive.

The knights were torn apart before they got anywhere close to Louizon, the stagnant water falling apart as its hosts were further mangled and scorched inside of their armours.

"Guess I'll check out the castle"
