Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 523: A Problem Far Removed

Once again finding herself before those great doors, Iliz just paced back and forth in front of it, her long tail furiously tapping against the ground, the speed of the movement coupled with the wire-thinness of it rendering the extra limb near imperceptible to others save for the whip-like sound it caused with every strike. The priestess knew that the all-beast held much knowledge, despite the failures and misuse of beast worship, they remained a great figure with insight in how to lead the people, having been standing side-by-side with the originator of sun worship, they had basically created the Emerald Realm's society together, and clearly, it had been a fantastical job. Unfortunately, the regal ancestor of the sun worshippers could not be asked anything by anyone at the moment, so it only left the all-beast, so there shouldn't be any reason to wait around or hesitate, but Iliz was apprehensive of what might be said down there… What if the all-beast said that the refugees needed to be booted out, or even worse? What if the all-beast thought that they should begin the hostilities with the undead instead of waiting for this threat to arrive? No one here actually knew if the undead could get in, if they could even exist within this realm, or even if they would be aggressive- Since it seemed like the death they fuelled on was non-existent here, would they even bother? Iliz knew nothing for certain, she only knew that the all-beast was the sort to use force to solve problems, and truly, going to ask for guidance now that she herself was very much against doing anything that could negatively impact the refugees, this issue having been made rather personal not so long ago. The divine dancing priestess suddenly stopped right in her tracks, a wry smile appearing upon Iliz's face as the smoke hovering over the skin thickened, as though trying to conceal her. "Hey… How are you doing Ioleznta? Everything's alright in your tower?" she said, the Emerald Herald stood with her arms crossed, an expression of mischief plastered upon her face. "So, ignoring your seniors, are we?" the herald leaned forward, seemingly very amused by the situation, every other beast worshipper around seemed to have departed the moment discussion began, probably not wanting to be within sight of either of them. 'Cowards!' cursed Iliz, composing herself. "Now, now… I wasn't meaning to ignore you- You and I, we are like sisters, it is just that things were busy over there and there wasn't any moment to free myself up, so…" with some luck, Iliz would manage to evade Ioleznta's expression of discontent that had been honed since childhood upon the priestess, which while harmless was very much humiliating, especially now that they both held very high ranks in the realm. "Busy, huh?" "Indeed" "So you were busy with an assignment, is that it?" questioned white haired woman, the blonde nodding furiously at this remark. "Absolutely! As a priestess, I need to show the way and there were some youths in need of guidance so-" "Was this assignment's name, Mamiel?" silence befell the wide hall, even the great doors seemed to be backing away from the conversation. The priestess looked down at the floor as if very interested in its composition, her long tail wrapping itself into a knot. "Yes…" Ioleznta sighed before chuckling. "So you didn't talk to the all-beast?" she asked. "I didn't, and I think I won't at all" "Great! That's simply fantastic to hear, and don't you worry my little Iliz, I won't tickle you into submission like when we were little, you can stop shielding your sides" Ioleznta clapped her hands, but the priestess did not budge. "I'll protect myself anyways, if you don't mind…" "Come on now, have I ever lied to you?" "Many times, actually! Like the time you made me believe that clouds were actually the canopy of trees growing upside down, I believed that for years!" "Heh, you were just too gullible back then, it would have been a crime to not make you believe all sort of nonsense" the herald put one hand behind Iliz's back, taking the both of them away from the great doors, the people beginning to flood back into the hall as they sensed that no mass-pranking would occur today, Herald Ioleznta seeming strangely not prone to it. The reason was simple, she had found something else to do. "Instead of talking about undeads we know next to nothing about and whatnot… How is it with this Mamiel girl?" indeed, the divine dancing priestess was an easy target for teasing right now, like a juicy fish slobbered in honey leaping in front of the open maws of gargarossazes. "Urgh, it's nothing much, alright? Just a regular relationship…" "Regular? You won't let anyone touch your adorably fluffy ears, which is a very tall order in my opinion, yet, you let that girl rubbed them in every manner, in public at that" as she said this, Ioleznta tried to just poke one of them, only for it to move out of the way of its own will. "Alright, I am quite fond of her antics and maybe I would like for her to be my life-long mate, I said maybe, you hear? I don't know if she'll agree or not" "You look worried saying it" Iliz's tail was tied into a bundle at this point, a sign that she was actually very anxious, it had been like this ever since she had grown this extra limb from communing with crywlerzes. And it was strange for a beast worshipper to be so worked up over a relationship, especially one with a refugee that was probable to not even yield offsprings. "Promise me you won't laugh" "I can promise that I'll try to hold it back" "Good enough I suppose… So you know that she is one of those talent holders, right?" she began explaining. "Indeed, Mamiel's is beast taming if I remember correctly, that's why she's always hanging around beast worshippers" the herald nodded. "Well, not literally but- I think she tamed me" "..." "Ioleznta?" The herald's face was still, the pattern of her eyes shifting with dreadful speed, lungs utterly emptied as they poured all air out to try and produce the loudest, most maniacal laughter known to life, but trying to be true to her word, Ioleznta held it until the need to laugh subsided, after approximately five entire minutes. "Very well… Alright… I am fine… Nothing hilarious anywhere…" "So…" she breathed out softly before saying it "...You are saying that Mamiel tamed you? But not literally? But how then, I am only seeing on option and if it is that, I will definitely laugh" Doing her best to stay composed, Ioleznta's ribs were aching, every muscle on her face tired and strained from containing the most primal vocalisation of amusement. "You know… I am a divine dancing priestess, so when mating, I should take charge and-" This time she laughed. "That's just adorable Iliz, and so, you were battling with that whilst debating whether to talk to the all-beast or not? Maybe you should question your ancestor on this instead, I am sure it will be a lovely discussion!" "Oh… But seriously, it will be fine… Keep me updated on that matter though, and also, I arranged a meeting at my tower, make sure to show up in three days!" The priestess was left behind, staring at the air. "It's no laughing matter, it's about the natural order of nature!" but of course, Ioleznta's retreating figure just shrugged. Rubbing the bridge of her nose, Iliz was already regretting telling her friend about this, now, the moment after that meeting would be dedicated to everyone asking about that for certain. 'It's fine, everything is fine… I just need to impose myself as the dominant one, how hard can it be? I am the youngest divine dancing priestess, I am a beast at heart, I just need to try…' Dusting her robe and trusting in the olfactory sense, she went to find Mamiel.
