Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 790: Berserk

The six-armed soldier in white emitted a terrifyingly loud bellow, powerful enough to pierce the eardrums of most, lunging forth with wild abandon, or so it seemed, but on top of being immensely large, his swings were more thought-out than those of his smaller brethren, making full use of his three pairs of arms to leave basically no space for the trio to dodge.

Maces swinging from every angle at once, his steps purposefully made into stomps as his strength and weight combined made the ground shake, pushing Milo, Helena and Toby off the ground, but the giant weapons only impacted one another, as all three were carried out of harm's way by wind magic.

"Filthy spell caster! I'll grind your bones to dust!" he said one thing, but it was Toby that he instead focused on next.

'This guy is definitely smart enough to know that his kind is generally impulsive…' Milo frowned, having instinctively moved closer to his wife to defend her, the feint had absolutely worked on him.

The elite was quick to strike at the otherworlder, who maintained his composure and drew his bow before even moving, rapidly firing three arrows toward the behemoth's chest, the tip dug into the gear but seemingly fail to even tickle the invader, who simply pushed on with his attacks, maces closing from each of Toby's sides, ready to turn him into red particles.

However, the three arrows began to glow, and exploded into a powerful blast, casting black smoke all over the place as the archer disappeared from where he had been standing, the damage inflicted upon the soldier was ridiculously low, his equipment wasn't even torn apart around the zone where the arrows had lodged themselves, but at least, the smoke and sound of the explosion had thrown him off.

Sensing something coming from being the veil of smoke, the giant brought his mace's together, blocking a sickle of wind taller than himself, the dire strength of this single spell ground against his weapons, sending countless sparks flying through the air, his feet digging into the rocky ground as it was physically pushing him away.

How could he have missed the spark of such a powerful spell being formed? The answer was simple.

The list of dangerous individuals amongst the livings that had escaped to this realm was rather lengthy as General Loimos had taken into account the fact that they would have become stronger compared to the last time they had been spotted, and also due to the fact that this list was made in relation to the strength of the average living soldiers, which naturally meant that most of known warriors of life were mortal threats to them.

However, the list wasn't only about strength, some had targets on their heads for the special abilities they possessed.

Toby, for having a special system, something only he was known to possess to this date, the simple fact that it permitted appraisal of pretty much everything was a problem, and even if he wasn't the most powerful one around, the otherworlder was considered a priority target.

And naturally, Milo was was high on the list as well, although few truly understood why that was the case, no one doubted Loimos's decision to make him pretty much the most dangerous of the livings, so with those two around, the elite had made the mistake of hyperfocusing on the one he believed he could kill, and the one he was certain he could not, which had made him forget to spare extra attention toward Helena.

Whomst he also greatly doubted he could kill, she was known to possess a zone after all.

With a guttural grunt, he managed to overpower the great blade of wind, his arms spreading wide as he broke through the spell, yet, his expression underneath the mask he wore was not one of satisfaction, as even though incapable of any refined magic, he could tell that the spell had been dispelled by its caster, and not by his brute force, the additional strength he had exerted had done nothing but cause him to swing at empty air.

Wide open, he noticed a blur in his peripheral vision, moments before Milo kicked him in the head, shattering his mask into a million species, throwing him off balance and giving him an immediate concussion.

'So… So strong! What strength in such a small body! Is that his full power, or…?' unable to sense that the amount of mana used by Milo to reinforce himself was far from being near his best, the goliath caught himself before falling to the ground, ending up nearly eye to eye with the otherworlder, who fired two arrows, one for each of his eyes.

The soldier in white closed his eyes, the resilience of even his eyelids was enough to withstand even powerful bolts, but the arrows used by Toby were far from ordinary, and both pierced right through, only slowed down a bit.

With a growl, he swung at where Toby had been, but only striking the ground.

'So easily? I am going to be defeated so easily?! The Tsarina will definitely admonish me when I come back as an undead!' currently more afraid of the girl that was about as big as one of his pinky fingers than of death, he gritted his teeth, feeling his heart beating faster, and veins growing in size dangerously.

Striking against the ground itself, he launched himself upward, avoiding attacks he didn't even know had been coming for himself, landing on his feet as the arrows stuck in his eyes were forcefully pushed out, regenerating in just under a second.

Screaming like a barbarian, even louder than before, he instantly moved to attack again, constantly swinging, and destroying the environment, launching shrapnel of stone at his enemies.

"Is that guy a damned berserker? I never saw one!" Toby remarked aloud.

"I don't know if that's what this is, but he clearly isn't thinking straight anymore" commented Helena "His maces seemed to have been created with the express purpose of resisting magic, would anyone mind getting him to turn his back to me for a second?"

"That should be easy enough right now" replied Milo, kicking off the ground, launching right past the moving maces, landing on the soldier's shoulder, who instantly tried to bite at him, and instead sunk his teeth into his own shoulder.

'I doubt that's acting, that guy is actually enraged' he fired a few weak mana bullets at the giant, who used his two clubbed-tails to launch cones of broken shards of stone forward before lunging himself.

He swung his maces at Milo, only to have them bounce off as the tiny living just punched back at them.

Even in the depth of his rage, the soldier in white was astonished, but that did not last, wind blew past him- No, it blew through him, cutting his body in half with a perpendicular angle, reaping right through both his lungs and heart, on top of severing his spine.

Death was instantaneous.

"Welp, I wouldn't want to fight more than one of these at once" said Toby, no matter how easy it had looked, the fact that it was a three on one had helped, and also the fact that Milo was actually never in danger of being harmed.

In fact, the otherworlder felt like he had been the only one that had been in danger at all against this enemy, the other two were just casually doing their thing and conserving their strength as much as possible.

'Talk about a power couple…'

The trio moved toward the figure that had been torn to shreds by Helena as the corpse of the soldier in white dispersed into spirit life, at least this one hadn't been filled with an explosive.
