Pestilence: Rise Of The Pure Undead

Chapter 795: Heavy Flames

The Soror was a very special caste of the living soldiers, somewhat similar to the nightbirds due to being an all-female group that had been personally nurtured by Loimos, both entertained a very special relationship with the champion that went beyond the usual admiration and respect shown by others.

Failing to meet the demands of a higher-up and war hero was one thing, but failing to meet the expectations of someone considered a parent was something else entirely.

Furthermore, the Soror was a somewhat experimental unit, the sisterhood wasn't merely a concept or idea, it had been present before Loimos even took them under his wings, the bond shared between each of the individual members was perhaps even stronger than that united blood-related siblings, each of them had helped pulled one another up to the level they now stood at.

If anything, the one weakness they possessed was simple, they were still living, and thus, the immaturity that still plagued them due to never experiencing a real childhood was still very much present, they might have a grown in age, but to them, this was the playground that they had sorely lacked, even if they did not realise it.

But since Loimos had not seen the need to cull that aspect of theirs, perhaps it was somehow desirable for their mission.

Alici couldn't help but laugh as she fired bots through the inferno, the crossbow was large, but not nearly as heavy as it should be, the recoil was similarly rather weak compared to the strength at which the bolts were launched at, still, the sensation of firing was most pleasant, and somehow, having enemies of her Father as targets made the act that much more enjoyable.

The crossbow reloaded itself alone, and the bolts seemed to be sliding out of a compartment without end, no matter how much she fired, it never ran out, each bolt was imbued with the ability her awakened soul depth manifestation provided her, so each of those bolts was not only fired with enough velocity to punch through multiple people, but could also melt through beams of steel without problem.

Another blade of wind nearly cut into her head, this one manifested from behind her instead, not only was Helena holding off the heavy flames, but she was also using outer manipulation to cast spells as well, and not just one, Alici called off the crossbow to better run and dodge.

"Vila Bouclia! Vila Bouclia! Vila Bouclia! Damn… It's not easy to say!" a powerful gust managed to blow through the defensive technique, throwing her to the ground, right as the flames that had been trapping the ground were finally pushed away completely, dispelled as the soul energy was torn apart by mana that had inserted itself in between some of it.

The red-eyed girl hadn't even noticed that her flames were being invaded in this manner, it was no wonder that none of the enemies had panicked or were even looking a bit burned, Helena had somehow managed to partly hijack control over the flames.

'Urgh… This definitely needs to go into a report… Her energy manipulation skills are much higher now…'

"Is no one going to do anything?" spoke Antieeld, noticing as no one was moving to try and strike Alici down.

"Abraham was right, she's just a kid piloting an adult, this doesn't feel right to riddle her with arrows"

"Just knock her out then" the commandant surge forth, thrusting her sabre at the invader, although she gave a piece of advice, she herself wasn't intending to play nice at all.

The girl in white nimbly managed to evade the strikes, her body emitting much heat as her eyes glew even brighter, with a feint, Antieeld landed kick, the strike blocked by both of Alici's wrist.

Then, one hand straight as though intending to chop something, she manifested flames into the form of a tall knife over it, swinging widely at the commandant, the flame cutting right through part of the ground, not due to being incredibly hot, but by the simple virtue of somehow being sharp.

Antieeld could somewhat tell what the deal with Alici's ability was, instead of simple fire manipulation, the flames she manifested behaved like they were riding upon a oil, at least in how they moved, but the entire inferno was like said oil, if one were to try and grasp a tendrils of fire extending upward, they would probably feel like they were grabbing a liquid.

So by focusing it, she could cut through object like condensed water would be able to, and the tides of flames could physically shatter objects before even beginning to burn them, this meant that her power wasn't weak to powerful burst of air or to water, as they wouldn't interact in the same way.

Couple all of these with the fact that it was all a mass of soul energy that could target the soul, and you got a most nasty ability.

The soul aspect was perhaps what was worse however, the soul of everyone here was disproportionately weaker compared to their bodies and energies, it was something that was hard to grow, and that most wouldn't even think about until something that could strike it would come along, but that was even rarer than mind attacks.

Still, blue blood was flung through the air as the invader's side was sliced into.

"If I may ask, what are you exactly?"

"You are just testing to see if you can make me talk"

"Correct"

The invader prepared an attack, but it was then that the others she had been overlooking surrounded her from all sides, Milo just slapping her in the back of the head, directly onto the rocky ground.

"Powerful, but lacking in actual experience… If she actually is linked to Loimos, she could tell us quite a lot" said Milo.

"She won't say anything, so-" Antieeld prepared to end the girl's life, but before anyone could do anything the girl disappeared, and was instead replaced by an horrid-looking beast, which instantly bloated up and exploded vile bile all over the place.

"Always the same, you have a talent to get in trouble, Alici"

The realm's defenders looked around to see several figures of different sizes surrounding them.

Counting Alici, there were five enemies surrounding them, all wearing different white uniforms, all young women with glowing eyes.

And on top of that, there were beasts accompanying them.

"Huh… He… He has quite a lot of daughters, huh?" remarked Toby, trying to appraise each of them without success.

"I doubt he cares for them like they are his children" replied Helena.

"Maybe we can negotiate to be adopted too?"

"Shut up, Lynn-"

"If you ask nicely, he might just spare some time for you, Father knows compassion and familiar love more than anyone else" one of them responded, the only one that was actually dressed differently, wearing a black cloak that covered her entire body.

"That's the biggest load of bullshit I have ever heard, your 'Father' is nothing more than a monster that just happens to know how to trick and deceive!" Milo spat back, they all visibly twitched in anger, but did not move just yet.

"You can't comprehend that both light and dark should coexist, then there is no need for us to speak" the one that looked like the leader did something, and the pressure in the area instantly increased, as even the knocked out invader was suddenly jolted away, her wounds healing in the blink of an eye.

"Be blessed"
