Pokémon: A Trainer Who Masters the Six Powers from the Start

Chapter 123: Chapter 123: Triple Strike

"Ron, are you really a rookie trainer who just started this year!?"

After losing two Pokémon to Persian, Erika finally couldn't help but ask.

Typically, rookie trainers in their first year of traveling would only have their strongest Pokémon reach mid-tier elite level by the time the Indigo League began—this was already impressive for those with talent and hard work.

It wasn't until their second year that trainers would gradually break into the mid-elite tier and eventually reach high-elite tier.

From the data Erika had, Ron had been traveling for less than six months but had trained his Persian to such a level. Not to mention, Ron still had a stronger Machamp that hadn't even appeared yet.

To train a Pokémon to master such ghostly speed and grow faster than others... If Erika hadn't reviewed Ron's profile, she would have thought he was a seasoned traveler with years of experience.

Ron could only respond with a wry smile. He certainly couldn't say, "I have special abilities."

Just like on Trial Island back then, even though everyone started from the same point, Ron was able to train his Machop and others to grow at a pace equal to or faster than anyone else while still having time to teach them the Six Powers (Rokushiki). That training led to the incredible strength his Pokémon possessed today.

"Your turn, Vileplume! Use Moonblast!"

Erika's command rang out, and the Fairy-type move, Moonblast, materialized as a radiant beam of moonlight aimed at Persian.

Unfortunately, at this point in the timeline, Fairy-types hadn't been officially recognized yet and were still classified as Psychic-types.

"It's useless. Persian, Shave – Claw Slash!"

Before Moonblast could land, Persian vanished from its original position.

"Then how about this? Vileplume, use Petal Blizzard!"

Unlike the previous two battles, Erika was fully focused on this one.

If her mid-tier elite Pokémon were defeated by an opponent of a lower rank, it would truly be embarrassing.

A flurry of white petals swirled rapidly, enveloping Vileplume in a protective barrier.

Persian's probing Claw Slash failed to break through the Petal Blizzard, prompting it to retreat outside Vileplume's attack range.

"Vileplume, use Sleep Powder and be ready to use Petal Blizzard again at any moment."

Seeing that Petal Blizzard was effective, Erika repeated her strategy while preparing to spread Sleep Powder across the battlefield.

"Persian, Shave – Flash, then use Hypnosis!"

As Persian dashed toward Vileplume again, the gem on its forehead began to emit a radiant glow.

"That move again? Vileplume, close your eyes and rely on my commands from here on out!"

The radiant light from Flash pierced through the Petal Blizzard, creating a clear path for Persian.

With its eyes closed, Vileplume awaited Erika's instructions.

"Vileplume, swing your vines wildly in front of you to block Persian's approach and prepare to use Petal Blizzard again!"

Following Erika's command, Vileplume swung its vines rapidly, forming a dense green barrier.

"Persian, stop and use Thunder!"

Persian halted abruptly, gathering an intense surge of electricity that coalesced into a lightning bolt, striking Vileplume's vines.

The sheer power of Thunder overwhelmed Vileplume's defenses, shattering them instantly.

Seeing this, Erika abandoned her counterattack plan, instead opting to defend with Petal Blizzard once more to repel Persian.

"Persian, use Screech, then follow with Shave – Claw Slash!"

"Vileplume, use Petal Blizzard!"

The trainers' commands echoed back and forth, with Persian's Screech taking the lead.

Relying heavily on its hearing due to its closed eyes, Vileplume found its auditory sense becoming a target.

Despite enduring the disruptive noise, Vileplume mustered its willpower and unleashed another Petal Blizzard.

Carefully observing the battlefield, Erika tried to track Persian through the shifting petals, but Persian's speed after using Shave made it nearly impossible to pinpoint its location.

"Vileplume, to your left! Use Moonblast, then follow with Petal Blizzard!"

The area-wide Moonblast swept across the field but failed to hit Persian, who darted away using Shave.

The white petals swirled again, marking the stalemate between the two trainers—this was now a battle of endurance or whoever would make the first mistake.

Repeatedly testing the waters with small attacks, Ron couldn't help but admire Erika's full defensive strategy. It gave him no opening to exploit.

However, Persian's continuous use of Shave drained its stamina significantly.

Maintaining this standstill, Erika let out a sigh of relief. Although relying on higher-level endurance felt a bit unfair, it was a strategy she couldn't ignore.

"Persian, this is our last push! Shave—Claw Slash!"

"Vileplume, Petal Blizzard and ready Vine Whip!"

"Persian, Shave—Flash!"

"Vileplume, keep your eyes shut and defend with Petal Blizzard. Be ready with Vine Whip!"

The commands came rapidly as if fast-forwarding the battle. Persian and Vileplume engaged in a fierce exchange.

Persian vanished again as Petal Blizzard enveloped Vileplume, breaking through a gap in the petals only to be blocked by Vine Whip.

As Persian regrouped, its gem glowed with another Flash, which was repelled twice by Vileplume's Petal Blizzard.

Exhausted but relentless, Persian pushed forward under Ron's orders.

"Vileplume, bind Persian with Vine Whip and use Giga Drain!"

"Persian, counter with Hyper Beam!"

"Stop it!"

Erika desperately commanded Vileplume to interrupt Persian before it could fire its devastating attack.

Vileplume's vines wrapped tightly around Persian, attempting to toss it aside while simultaneously draining its energy.

But Persian, prepared from the start, unleashed its Hyper Beam faster, the orange-yellow beam slamming directly into Vileplume.

The intense pain caused Vileplume to release its grip as it staggered from the powerful attack.

Though a mid-tier elite Pokémon, Vileplume struggled to move after enduring the Hyper Beam.

"Stand up, Vileplume!" Erika called out.

On the other side, Ron and Persian waited silently.

Ron had gambled that Persian could unleash its Hyper Beam before being interrupted and recover faster than Vileplume.

As Vileplume attempted to gather its strength, Persian disappeared from sight once more.

"Finish it! Shave – Claw Slash!"

At Ron's command, Persian struck with pinpoint precision, sealing the outcome.
