Pokémon Adventures: GAMER PATH

Chapter 160: Fighting Gym Battle (3)

~Third POV~

[Johto Region, Cianwood City – Gym]

Having managed to change the tides, Chuck went for his next Pokémon on his belt. He grinned as he reached for his next Poke Ball, declaring, "Let's see you handle this! Go, Medicham!"

*Pop*

With a shout, Chuck released his next Pokémon, a lithe and powerful Medicham. Medicham's crossed-legged stance radiated focused energy, and its intense gaze locked onto Azure and Ampharos.

Azure mirrored Chuck's action. He recalled Ampharos as he pulled out Heracross's Poke Ball, as he declared, "Heracross, you're up!"

*Pop*

He tossed Heracross's Poké Ball into the air. The single-horn Pokémon landed on the battlefield with a determined shout, its powerful pincers ready for battle.

Chuck commanded, eyes narrowed, "Medicham, use High Jump Kick!"

*Wooosh*

Medicham sprang into the air, gathering its strength for the devastating kick. It soared towards Heracross, a blur of motion.

Azure's mind raced. He knew that High Jump Kick was a powerful move, but also risky.

If it missed, Medicham would take recoil damage. He shouted, "Heracross! Protect!"

*CLANG*

Heracross roared, and a shimmering green barrier erupted around it. Medicham's foot connected with the shield, sending shockwaves through the barrier, but Heracross remained unharmed.

Medicham stumbled as it landed, momentarily unbalanced from the impact. Azure ordered his Pokémon, "Now, Heracross, use Pin Missile!"

*Pew*

*Pew*

Heracross unleashed a barrage of sharp, needle-like projectiles from its pincers. The Pin Missiles struck Medicham with incredible force, sending it staggering backward.

Chuck roared, his voice full of encouragement ordering, "Medicham, Recover and then use Force Palm!"

*Shiii*

Medicham shook off the pain and glowed around its body. It recovered its health and then charged, its palm glowing with a concentrated burst of energy.

*SMACK*

It slammed its hand into Heracross, releasing a wave of force that pushed the Bug/Fighting-type Pokémon back. Heracross cried out in pain, "Hera!!"

Azure countered immediately, "Heracross, use Arm Thrust!"

Heracross, despite the pain, unleashed a flurry of powerful thrusts with its arms, each blow landing squarely on Medicham. But before another hit was aimed, Chuck roared, "Now! Use Detect!"

*Woosh*

In an instant, Medicham avoided all Heracross's Arm Thrust with such grace and agility, maneuvering around it. But now both fighters were within range for close-quarter combat as the two trainers' eyes narrowed.

Azure commanded, wasting no time, "Heracross, use Megahorn!"

Heracross charged forward, its horn glowing with immense power. It was a risky move, a direct assault, but Azure trusted in Heracross's strength and the sheer force of the attack, intending to land.

However, Chuck countered, his voice sharp and commanding, "Medicham, jump its horn and use High Jump Kick!"

*Boing*

With incredible agility, Medicham jumped on the charging Heracross horn, its body a blur of motion. It leaped into the air, forcibly placing its foot down, causing Heracross the fall, channeling its energy into a devastating kick aimed at Heracross's head.

*THUD*

The High Jump Kick connected with a resounding thud, sending Heracross staggering backward. The force of the impact was immense, and Azure could see Heracross struggling to regain its balance.

Azure called out, concern etched on his face, "Heracross, are you alright?"

Heracross roared, shaking its head to clear the daze. It stood firm, its eyes solely focused on Medicham.

Azure sighed in relief and gazed at Medicham with wariness. Azure instructed, "Don't give up, Heracross! Strong Style! Brick Break!"

Heracross gathered its strength, its fists glowing with a white energy. It charged at Medicham, delivering a series of powerful blows.

*BAM*

*SMASH*

Medicham, still recovering from the High Jump Kick, struggled to defend itself. It blocked some of the attacks, but the sheer force of Heracross's Strong Style Brick Break was overwhelming.

Chuck yelled, desperation creeping into his voice, "Medicham, use Psychic!"

*Shiii*

Medicham unleashed a wave of psychic energy, attempting to immobilize Heracross. But Heracross, fueled by its fighting spirit, resisted the psychic assault and continued forward.

The two Pokémon traded blows, a whirlwind of power and skill. Heracross's physical strength clashed against Medicham's psychic abilities. The battle was a brutal stalemate, each Pokémon pushing its limits.

Finally, Heracross landed a decisive blow, a powerful Aerial Ace that shattered Medicham's defenses. Medicham collapsed, its energy depleted.

The referee declared, seeing the collapsed Medicham, "Medicham is unable to battle! Heracross wins!"

Azure pumped his fist in the air, a surge of relief and pride washing over him. He praised his Pokémon proudly, "Great job, Heracross! You were amazing!"

Heracross roared in response, its pincers raised in victory, "Hera! (Heck yeah! She was tough, but I'm one mean bug!)"

Chuck recalled Medicham, a thoughtful expression on his face. He turned to Azure with a serious expression as he spoke excitedly, catching his attention, "Impressive, Azure. You've trained your Heracross well. But this is where I end your Gym Challenge streak!"

He put away Medicham's Poke Ball as he grabbed his final one. He paused as he spoke up in a serious tone, making Azure wary, "… Before I unleash this one. I must first say that I'm thankful for your field of Pokémon Moves. Without your knowledge, I wouldn't have known one of my Pokémon could evolve even further beyond. So, in respect, I'll show you the fruits of this one labor! Go! Annihilape!"

*Pop*

The Poké Ball burst open, releasing a creature of pure, unadulterated rage. Annihilape stood before them, a hulking primate with crimson fur and glowing red eyes. Its muscles bulged with power, and an aura of fury crackled around it like a visible storm.

It was a terrifying sight. Azure's breath hitched.

He had heard tales of Annihilape, of its boundless rage and destructive power. He knew that this would be his greatest challenge yet.

Annihilape roared, a sound that vibrated through the entire Gym, "ANNNN!!!!"

It slammed its fists against its chest, its eyes locked on Heracross with malevolent intensity. Chuck commanded, his voice echoing over the Gym, "Now the true battle begins! Annihilape, use Rage Fist!"

*ZOOOOM*

Annihilape launched itself forward with surprising speed, its fists glowing with dark ghostly energy. It unleashed a flurry of devastating blows, each strike hitting Heracross with brutal force behind each hit.

*SMASH*

*SMASH*

Azure roared, his voice barely audible over the din, "Heracross! Strong Style! Aerial Ace!"

*Shinng*

Heracross unleashed a powerful slash, striking Annihilape directly. But Chuck roared, "Hmph! Counter!"

*Wooosh*

Annihilape's body glowed as the attack should have been devastating, missed. But Annihilape twirled its body, grabbing its horn as it muttered, "An? (Really? Puny attack bug… here let me show you how you shoot a real punch.)"

It hurled its fist directly at Heracross, slamming it to the ground. Then, followed up with Rage Fist attacks continued unabated, each blow adding to the sheer destructive force. Azure watched in horror as Heracross was pummeled relentlessly.

*SMASH*

*SMACK*

He knew that his Pokémon couldn't withstand this onslaught for long. But Chuck didn't allow the chance as he ordered with glee, "Annihilape, use Rage Fist again!"

*SMASH*

*SMACK*

*BASH*

The attacks continued, each blow landing on Heracross. Azure could feel the power behind the attacks and knew that one more would knock it out, but he knew that he wanted one last attack.

Azure shouted, hoping for the best, "Heracross, use – "

*BOOOM*

But before he could finish his command, Heracross was sent flying by Annihilape's Shadow Punch. Heracross was sent flying into the Gym floor, forming a crater as Azure's eyes widened, seeing his Pokémon get flattened.

Azure stared at the battlefield, his heart heavy with Heracross's defeat. He gazed at the Annihilape as he pondered his options.

Azure considered his options. Annihilape was a formidable opponent, known for its immense strength and aggressive fighting style.

He needed a Pokémon that could withstand its attacks and exploit its weaknesses. But his only options were his Ampharos and Mismagius.

He weighed his options as he looked at his belt. He saw his Pokémon's determined eyes at the match with Azure, sighing out loud, feeling renewed.

Grasping a hand over one of their Poke Balls, Azure called out, throwing his own Poké Ball, "Ampharos, I choose you!"

*Pop*

Ampharos, the gentle, illuminated Pokémon, appeared on the battlefield, its wool glowing softly. It wasn't the most obvious choice against a Fighting-type, but Azure had a plan.

He gazed at the Rage Monkey Pokémon, determined to win. Ampharos' eyes narrowed, sharing his determination as he commanded, "Ampharos, use Thunder Wave!"

*Zzzz*

Ampharos unleashed a wave of electricity, aiming to paralyze the raging Annihilape. Chuck barked out an order, "Annihilape, use Drain Punch!"

Annihilape lunged forward, ignoring the impending paralysis. It's fist glowed a dark purple and slammed into Ampharos.

*SLAM*

Despite being paralyzed, the Drain Punch succeeded, which not only damaged the Ampharos but also restored Annihilape's health. Azure cried out, "Ampharos, Hang in there! Now use Confuse Ray."

*Shiii*

Annihilape roared and was confused due to Ampharos' move. It pummeled itself repeatedly as Azure took this moment to set up, "Ampharos! Reflect! Cotton Guard! Agility! Charge!"

*Shiii*

Like that, Ampharos began setting up its defenses as a screen of psychic veils in front of it, increasing its team's defense. Sparking with electricity, boosting its Electric Moves along with increasing its Sp. Def by +1 Stage.

Cotton began to spread across Ampharos as it increased its defense. Stat by +3 Stage. And finally, Agility increases its speed by +2 Stage as the Rage Monkey Pokémon beats itself up, before finally shaking the confusion off.

By then, it was too late as Ampharos powered itself up. Chuck gritted his teeth as Azure gained the advantage while his Pokémon beat itself up.

He reigned in his frustration and focused on the battle at hand. He commanded, "Annihilape, use Shadow Claw!"

*Zooom*

It lunged forward, intending to swipe against Ampharos. But Azure was prepared as he ordered, "Strong Style! Thunderbolt!"

*BOOOOM*

Ampharos gathered its energy and unleashed a powerful Thunderbolt. The electric blast hit Annihilape squarely, sending it staggering back.

It survived the hit but looked more pissed off than ever. Azure knew he had to be careful when cornering a Pokémon as he thought, 'The more cornered an animal is, the more it's willing to fight fiercely to the end. I can't afford to switch in yet…'

Despite being hit by Thunderbolt, Annihilape stood back up. Azure commanded, "Ampharos, use another Thunderbolt!"

*Zzzzz*

Ampharos unleashed another Thunderbolt. But unlike this time, it sidestepped it, regaining control of the battle as Chuck declared, "Don't let up, Annihilape! Close Combat!"

*Zoooom*

Annihilape charged forward with blinding speed, landing a series of devastating blows on Ampharos. Ampharos cried out in pain.

*SMASH*

*BASH*

Azure knew it couldn't take much more. Azure cried out, "Ampharos, hold on! Use one more Confuse Ray!"

*Shiii*

Ampharos, battered and bruised, mustered its remaining strength and fired a Confuse Ray. But Chuck anticipated this as he ordered, "Use Protect!"

*Clang*

Summoning a transparent barrier, Annihilape blocked the Confuse Ray as its eyes narrowed intently at Ampharos. But this gave the moment Azure was looking for as he raised his Key Stone glove, getting Chuck's attention.

He suddenly felt a wave of danger as Azure spoke, getting Ampharos' attention, "Ampharos! It's time!"

He took a deep breath and raised his hand, the Key Stone glove gleaming. In a determined tone, he yelled, grasping the shining Key Stone, "Ampharos! We've come so far together! Let's show them what we are capable of! Mega Evolution!"

*SHIII*

The Key Stone pulsed with light, resonating with the Ampharosite held securely on Ampharos' gem tail. A swirling vortex of energy erupted, enveloping Ampharos in a blinding aura.

Azure felt a surge of power coursing through his veins, a raw, untamed force that threatened to overwhelm him. He channeled it through his will, directing it towards Ampharos, enveloping it with evolution energy.

The transformation began. Ampharos, its toes turn black, and it regrows white wool at the back of its head and over its tail, having its genes stimulated by Mega Evolution.

This energy also awakens its long-sleeping dragon blood. Its long, woolly tail has many small, red orbs attached to it. Its conical ears retain their stripes but are now segmented with swirled tips.

*CRACK*

The vortex subsided, cracking the rainbow shell, and Mega Ampharos stood before them, a testament to the power of their bond. It was magnificent, a perfect fusion of electricity and the dragon's ferocity.

The air crackled with barely contained energy. Azure felt a surge of exhilaration, mixed with a healthy dose of awe.

He wouldn't get tired of seeing his Pokémon Mega Evolve for a long while. He smirked as Mega Ampharos levitated in the field as it used Magnet Rise, with sparks of electricity showing its fur, "Amppp!! (Oh! Yeah!)"

Chuck's eyes widened as did Annihilape's, seeing this sudden evolution. Chuck's eyes narrowed as he was on guard as he thought, 'There's an evolution beyond the standard Mareep line? No, I'll think of that later, right now I must focus on the battle!'

His eyes sharpened as Mega Ampharos took center stage. Mega Ampharos was a sight to behold, its power amplified.

Chuck watched in awe, a flicker of surprise in his eyes. But turned stern as he said cautiously, "So, you possess a Mega Evolution, eh? Interesting. Annihilape, don't let up! Use Rage Fist!"

*Zoooom*

Annihilape charged forward, cloaked in a torrent of ghost energy, enlarging it to a comical degree. Mega Ampharos stood its ground, its eyes glowing with power.

Seeing the incoming giant fist, Azure smirked as he countered, "Mega Ampharos, use Strong Style! Dragon Pulse!"

*Shiii*

Mega Ampharos' tail began to charge up, blipping into light. It narrowed its eyes as it opened its mouth, unleashing a multi-colored dragon beam filled with dragon energy, intercepting the Rage Fist.

*BOOOOM*

The two forces collided, creating a cloud of dust. When the smoke cleared, Annihilape was reeling, clearly weakened as Chuck's eyes widened in shock, as he muttered, "Nani?! It's Sp. Attack gone up! Is this the power of Mega Evolution?"

Annihilape was reeling from the attack as Azure ended it in one move. He ordered, "Now, use Thunderbolt!"

*KABOOOM*

Mega Ampharos unleashed a devastating Thunderbolt, striking Annihilape with full force. The Fighting-type Pokémon collapsed, its eyes swirling.

The referee gulped as he announced the results out loud, "Annihilape is unable to battle! Ampharos wins! And the winner is Challenger Azure Sky!"

Chuck retrieved Annihilape, a look of respect on his face. Mega Ampharos reverted to normal as Azure went ahead, hugging his Light Pokémon in a proud tone, "You did it, girl! We've won!"

Ampharos roared happily, giving Azure a hug in the process as his Celebi, Pikachu, and Eevee came along congratulating their win, "Amp!"

Chuck, seeing their bond, smirked helplessly, shaking his head as he recalled his Pokémon. He proceeded, heading over to Azure, handing him his rewards, "You've proven yourself a worthy opponent, Azure Sky. I can't believe you were able to defeat my team. As such, here are the rewards and the Storm Badge!"

Azure stepped forward, a grin on his face. He obtained his reward as he said respectfully, "Thank you. Your Pokémon was strong, and a worthy battle!"

Chuck nodded and smiled, shaking Azure's hand. He then spoke up in a curious tone, getting Azure's attention, "Moving from this would it trouble you for you to stay with me and my wife for the night. I would like to hear your tales from Johto thus far and see what Blue spoke so fondly of."

Azure smiled, letting go of the handshake as he recalled Ampharos in a respectful tone, "I humbly accept your hospitality. I'm quite curious who the mentor is that raised such a fearsome Trainer. If anything, it would be an honor to hear Mr. Chuck."

Chuck laughed heartily, hearing Azure's words. He invited him and his team to his Dojo Home for dinner to learn of his adventure and share some tall tales.
