[Kanto Region, Indigo Plateau – Stadium]

Red's expression was serious. His gaze lingered on the Poké Balls on his belt with a split second to decide who to choose.

His gaze lay upon a singular Poké Ball on his belt. He briefly recalled a small memory of obtaining this Pokémon, having a flashback…

[Kanto Region, Flashback, Mt. Moon]

"Arcanine! Fire Blast!"

"Machamp! Mega Punch!"

*BOOOOM*

A minor explosion occurred on the outskirts of Mt. Moon as Red was busy training his new team. He sparred against a fellow battle junkie enthusiast, Bruno, as he chuckled, "Hahaha! That was a magnificent display, Red! You've truly grown over the time we trained together!"

Recalling their Pokémon to allow them to rest, Red grinned as he smirked confidently, "Heh! You have no idea, Bruno, but thanks for being my sparring partner along with Koga, training me for the Tenth Pokémon League."

Koga could be seen in the distance meditating with his Poison Type Pokémon, preparing himself to battle his sworn Rival, Blue Oak. Koga chimed lightly, giving advice, "True, young Red. But in battle, you not only need strength but deception to achieve your goals. But is your new team strong enough to face him again, I wonder?"

Red understood what Koga meant as he pondered that question out loud with crossed arms curiously to the sky, "Yeah… I wonder too. Azure surely grew as he went on his trip to the Alola Region, studying in school. Said something about understanding culture and researching new moves?"

Bruno, listening, nodded his head, understanding Azure's goal as he replied calmly with crossed arms, asking Red, "It sounds to me your rival is growing strong, increasing his knowledge. Sometimes, Knowledge is Power. But after training with us, are you now going to head to Mt. Silver soon?"

Red nodded his head as he seriously declared in a determined tone, "… Yeah. Azure mentioned it was a place where they're were high-level and strong Pokémon. Along with a spring that heals you is the perfect environment for my team to improve."

Bruno grinned as he checked his belt, grabbing a Poké Ball. He went forward, handing it to Red, baffled as he said resolutely, "I can see the fire in your eyes, Red. You'll surely grow stronger training there, but as a gift of our friendship, I shall gift you this Pokémon. Its potential is high as it's a kid from my Partner Machamp. You'll surely lead it to become the strongest it could be."

Red's eyes widened as he was gifted such a valuable Pokémon from his friend Bruno. He clenched it tightly, seeing a Machop as he calmly said, thanking his friend, "… Thank you, Bruno. I'll make sure to evolve this little guy to the max and show him off on the big stage! If it's your partner's kid, then I'll make sure he grows up the strongest he can be!!"

Bruno smiled happily, seeing that the Machop was given to a worthy Trainer. From within its Poké Ball, the Machop was eagerly prepared for its training with Red and his Pokémon; he'll choose for the upcoming battle ahead…

[Kanto Region, Present, Indigo Plateau – Stadium]

Returning to the present, Red eyes hardened, making his choice. He wasted no time, grabbing a Poké Ball from his belt, and yelled, his voice cutting through the noise, "This time will be different, Azure! Let's do this! Go, Machamp!"

*Pop*

With a flash of red light, the four-armed Superpower Pokémon materialized on the battlefield, flexing its formidable muscles and letting out a guttural cry, "MA! CHAMP! (THE POWER OF YOUTH!!!)"

The crowd roared its approval. A classic, powerful choice from the 'Fighter'. Azure notices Machamp's Held Item being the [Black Belt] as he got into high alert.

Azure simply nodded, his smile never wavering. His eyes hardened as he thought cautiously, 'Machamp, huh? This might be a bit dicey…'

Red remained confident, eyeing Azure's Quagsire as he ordered seriously, "Machamp, use Strength!"

*Shiii*

Machamp's four arms glowed with power as it charged forward, aiming to simply overpower its smaller opponent. Azure commanded, his voice steady, "Quagsire, use Dig!"

*RMBL*

Just as Machamp's fists were about to connect, Quagsire dove headfirst into the battlefield, disappearing completely. Machamp punched the empty ground, sending dust and pebbles flying.

It looked around, confused, its four arms poised for action. DJ Mary shouted through the speakers, "He's buying time! But for what?"

Waiting a bit, Azure ordered, "Now, Quagsire!"

*RMBL*

The ground directly beneath Machamp erupted. Quagsire shot out, slamming its head into the Fighting-type's chin in a powerful uppercut.

Machamp staggered back, surprised by the force of the blow. But…

*Swoosh*

… before Quagsire could escape, it was caught by one of Machamp's arms. Red smirked as he ordered, "Don't let it get away!!"

Machamp uses its two upper hands to flip Quagsire and deliver a powerful Vital Throw that sends Quagsire crashing across the cavern on the battlefield. Being tossed around by the Superpower Pokémon hurt a lot.

*BOOM*

Having landed down Quagsire does not get a chance to recover as it was soon tackled into a Body Slam by Machamp. But Azure quickly orders fiercely, "Quagsire! Strong Style! Aqua Tail to get yourself space away from that Machamp!"

*SPLASH*

Having gained enough strength, coating its tail with water, Quagsire swiped at the intending Machamp. But Machamp jumped back in time with excellent agility.

*Wooosh*

Machamp lands successfully on its feet, only to notice Azure's voice, "Quagsire! Strong Style! Ice Punch!"

*Crackle*

Quagsire is sporting its ice-coated fist, using Ice Punch on each fist. Quagsire wastes no time and charges in with a hit.

*Wooosh*

Machamp dodges it and another one, but Quagsire leaps into the air and strikes a downward punch, finally drawing damage. Machamp recoiled in pain, "Ma?! Cha?! MACHAMP! (That punch… IS SO YOUTHFUL!!)"

Machamp, now taken by surprise, intensifies its glare. Red smirked as he ordered, "Now! Machamp! Knock Off followed by combat!"

*SLAP*

It charges forward, using Knock Off to slap away Quagsire's [Mystic Water] from its neck and thrusts with all four arms, knocking Quagsire back. Growling, Quagsire recovers as Azure ordered, "Quagsire! Don't let up! Strong Style! Liquidation!"

*Splash*

Quagsire's hands and feet become covered in concentrated water, and it charges at Machamp, throwing two mean hooks at the same time, both hitting it in the face. Machamp is knocked away, landing on its back.

Azure grinned, seizing the chance, ordered, "Don't let up! Keep on the attack!"

*Wooosh*

As Quagsire leaps up to land on it, Machamp recovers just as Red counters, "Don't let up! Use Seismic Toss!"

*Wooosh*

Machamp grins as it uses Seismic Toss by first leaping up as well, grabbing Quagsire tightly as both continue going up into the sky. As they slow to a halt, they fall back down to the ground hard.

*BOOM*

Quagsire crashes into the ground face-first, creating a small crater. Machamp lands in front of him, dabbing after performing Seismic Toss, "Champ! Champ champ."

Walking over to Quagsire, Machamp picks it up, holding it in a powerful hug, squeezing tightly. However, Azure swiftly orders, "Quagsire! Get out using Body Slam! Then use Ice Punch to match Machamp's arms!"

*SLAM*

Quagsire musters enough strength to headbutt Machamp, then slams its body against it, freeing itself. Taking advantage of the opening, Quagsire used Ice Punch, creating two separate arms that act like limbs to match Machamp's.

*Crackle*

After forming two additional icy limbs, Quagsire went on the offensive. The Water Fish Pokémon attacks relentlessly, landing a four-fisted slam and two dual hooks.

*SMASH*

*BASH*

In that moment, Quagsire uses its lower ice arms to hold its opponent in place while using its upper arms to land a barrage of Ice Punches. Quagsire wailed down on it as Azure ordered calmly, "Now! Take the chance and use Recover!"

*Shiii*

Quagsire started to glow, which alarmed Red. Red counters urgency in his voice, "I can't allow Quagsire to heal. Machamp! Don't let up! Quickly halt its move with Smack Down!"

Machamp's eyes widened as it roared, "Champ! (Ya got it boss!)"

*RMBL*

Machamp retaliates by digging its hand into the ground, soon lifting a large stone coated in Rock Type Energy, and begins to land a few blows against Quagsire's head, halting the Recover process. By then, Quagsire is locked in another struggle to overpower the other on the ground, taking damage.

*Thud*

Machamp wins the struggle, pushing Quagsire back. Red smirked as he ordered, "Now! Machamp hit'm with a series of your Mach Punches!"

*Zooom*

Rushing forward, Machamp attacks Quagsire with fierce intensity. Quagsire dodges the first attack but is struck from behind when Machamp spins behind him and throws a backhanded punch.

*SMACK*

As a result, Machamp can land more blows before Quagsire recovers and knocks it away, interrupting its moments to recover. Machamp recovers instantly and attacks once more, forcing Quagsire into a defensive position.

Azure gritted his teeth as he ordered, "Quagsire! Use Protect!"

Seeing Azure on the defensive, Red grinned as he ordered, "Now! Power up Machamp! Use Power Up-Punch!!"

*CLANG*

Casting a protective transparent barrier, Quagsire held on, but it was being pushed back by the barrage of punches and forced against the edges of the battlefield. But Azure frowned as he sweated, muttering in concern, "Power Up-Punch?! Each of those hits is increasing Machamp's Atk Stat by +1! Crap!"

Seeing Quagsire being pushed this much while Red's Machamp was steadily stacking up +1 Atk Stats, he grits his teeth. Azure orders seriously, "Quagsire! Push that Superpower Pokémon away with Strong Style! Hydro Pump!"

*SPLASH*

As the Protect faded, Quagsire got an opening as it unleashed its Hydro Pump, coating Machamp in pressurized water and forcing it back, gaining some distance. After that, Quagsire advances, forcing Machamp back.

*Tmp*

However, Machamp began to power through the water, making Quagsire leap back. Machamp winks as it flexes at Quagsire, "Ma! Champ! Machamp! (You, my water type friend, have the power of… YOUTH!!)"

Azure frowns seeing Red's Machamp being relentless as he orders, "Meet it head on, Quagsire! Use Ice Punch to trade it blow for blow!"

*Crackle*

Reforming its two extra ice limbs, Quagsire roars in fury as its hands are coated in ice prepared for its showdown. The two trade blows, and Machamp can land several blows in succession before Quagsire knocks Machamp back with one blow.

*RMBL*

Machamp digs its hands into the ground, picking up two large rocks. Red grinned as he ordered, "Great! Use those rocks and follow up with a Cross Chop!"

*SMACK*

Leaping forwards, it strikes Quagsire with Cross Chop, then follows up by smashing the two rocks at it. Quagsire stumbles as Azure shouts in concern, "Quick, grab its arms, Quagsire! Don't let it go!"

Quagsire uses all four arms to punch Machamp, but all four hands are caught swiftly. Machamp spins and shoves Quagsire away while still holding on to Quagsire's lower ice right arm, ripping it off.

*Thud*

Quagsire realizes it's missing its ice limbs and quickly reforms them again with Ice Punch, before rushing back quickly into battle and getting in close. Quagsire grabs Machamp with its arms and returns the favor by striking at its underwear.

*SMASH*

Machamp's eyes widened as it groaned in pain, holding its crotch area, "Ma – MACHAMP!!! (AH!! MY YOUTHFUL BALLS!!!)"

*SMASH*

However, Quagsire takes it a step further and strikes Machamp twice in the same area for double damage. Machamp's eyes shot open, feeling the pain again, "MA! CHAMP!! (AH!! YOU HIT ME AGAIN!! FUCK IT HURTS AND IT'S COLD!!)"

Red winces seeing this as he muttered, "Oww… that's gonna hurt."

Realizing what happened, Machamp finally loses its temper and shouts in anger, "MA! MACHAMP!! (THAT'S IT! NO MORE MISTER NICE YOUTHFUL CHAMP!!)"

Red smirked, seeing Machamp had had it with Quagsire as he ordered, "Now, Machamp, let's end this! Close Combat!"

*ZOOOM*

Rushing in, Machamp slugs Quagsire with a Mach Punch as Quagsire attempts to fight back, but to no avail. Stumbling back, Quagsire groans in pain, but Machamp doesn't even allow it the chance to retaliate.

Machamp runs towards Quagsire, unleashing a flurry of blows with its arms, while Quagsire roars in pain. Azure could only frown as his Pokémon was getting beaten up to a pulp from the flurry of Machamp's punches.

*SMASH*

*BASH*

*SMACK*

*BAM*

Suddenly, Machamp stops and grins, giving Quagsire a thumbs-up before it lashes out with one final punch using both right arms in the form of an uppercut, "MA! CHAMP! (NOW TIME FOR THE DRAMATIC FINISH!!)"

*BOOOM*

Quagsire's body is then blasted off into the nearby wall. Quagsire then faints in the crater it formed after being punched by Machamp.

Meanwhile, Machamp strikes a pose, celebrating its victory, "Machamp! (Yes! Victory for Machamp!)"

The referee's flag shot up as he declared in a loud voice, "Quagsire is unable to battle! The winner is Machamp! Trainer Azure, please send out your next Pokémon!"

[Kanto Region, Indigo Plateau – Stadium, Stands]

The Dex Holders looked stunned, seeing the power of Machamp. Gold slowly grinned as he muttered in awe, "Holy Tauros!! Where the heck did Red get this Machamp? It's clearly busted as hell if it took on Quagsire without breaking a sweat!!"

The others simply nodded, agreeing with Gold's words. Blue, on the other hand, slyly grinned as he muttered, "Oh? I was wondering why Red was allowing Azure's Quagsire to land those hits on purpose. But now I see it clearly… quite deceptive of you, Red."

The Dex Holders were at a loss for what Blue meant. Green asked him curiously, "Why did he land those hits on purpose? You know something we don't, Blue…"

Blue gazed at his fellow Dex Holders as he scoffed lightly with his arms crossed, and he replied casually, "It's quite simple. I've originally had a Machamp on my team, I can tell briefly what they're abilities are or which one has which. I'm just surprised that you guys didn't catch on to Red's tricks."

Hearing that, the group muttered, baffled, "Tricks…?"

Blue merely leaned back, enjoying the show. But Silver and Green caught on to what he meant as they're eyes widened in surprise, realizing what Red did. Their focus shifted to the battlefield as Azure made his next choice…

[Kanto Region, Indigo Plateau – Stadium]

Azure recalled his Quagsire as he said happily, clenching its Poké Ball, "Good work, buddy, you've done enough."

Then he shifted his attention to Machamp and Red as he slyly grinned, winning this match-up. Azure sighed as he thought cautiously, 'That damn Machamp is gonna be a pain to handle. Its No Guard Ability is quite handy as each of our attacks landed, so no Guts. And if I'm going against Machamp, I know just the Pokémon for the job…'

Azure's smile widened slightly. He reached for his own Poké Ball, his movements fluid and unhurried as he declared boldly, "Okay, Red, you got me with that Machamp. But power isn't everything. Mismagius, let's cast a spell!"

*Pop*

From Azure's Poké Ball, a different kind of presence emerged. There was no heavy thud, only a silent, spectral shimmer.

Mismagius, the Magical Pokémon, materialized in the air, its wide-brimmed hat casting an eerie shadow over its mischievous, glowing eyes along with its Held Item [Wise Glasses]. It gave a low, musical, mischievous cackle that sent a shiver through the air, a stark contrast to Machamp's strong presence.

Red narrowed his eyes, a flicker of uncertainty crossing his face before he suppressed it as he thought, 'Mismagius, huh? With Machamp weakened, I need to take it out fast. But I must be cautious with its illusions… however, it looks like Azure hasn't caught on to my Machamp's true ability yet. And if it thinks it's No Guard, then I've just secured this win with my Max Attack Machamp!'

Red wouldn't be outplayed so easily as he kept his act together. He issued his order cautiously, "Don't hesitate, Machamp! Use Foresight!"

At the same time, Azure ordered, "Use Mean Look!"

Mismagius' eyes glowed ominously red, eyeing Machamp, forcing it to stay. And at the same time, Machamp's eyes glowed as it gained the ability to hit Ghost-type opponents with Normal- and Fighting-type moves.

Machamp's muscles tensed in anticipation. Mismagius eyed Machamp cautiously, feeling danger from the Superpower Pokémon.

Both trainers' eyes narrowed seeing they made their setups. The tension between the two was high in this high-stakes battle.

But Red broke the tension first, his eyes laser-focused as he ordered, "Machamp! No backing down now! Cross Chop!"

*Zooom*

Machamp charged, its four arms glowing with fighting energy as it closed the distance in a blur of motion. It was a terrifying sight, an avalanche of pure power aimed directly at the spectral Pokémon.

Azure said, his voice calm and even, "Mismagius, fade."

*Murmur*

*Murmur*

Just as Machamp's powerful chops were about to connect, Mismagius's form turned translucent as it began to murmur, chanting its illusions. The glowing fists passed harmlessly through its body as if it were made of smoke.

*Wooosh*

Machamp stumbled, its momentum carrying it past its target, its powerful attack meeting only empty air. It recoiled its head in pain, as did Red, flinching as the whole battlefield changed into a wild jungle thanks to Mismagius' illusions.

The stadium fell silent for a heartbeat, then erupted in a wave of gasps and excited chatter. DJ Mary's voice boomed through the speakers, "An unbelievable dodge! Machamp's Fighting-type move does not affect the Ghost-type Mismagius under its illusions! To the people, seeing this is merely a battlefield, but to the people present, it's a wild jungle here – ow… headache…"

Red gritted his teeth. His vision, seeing the jungle momentarily paused him, but he remained hyper-focused as he thought cautiously, 'He used Mismagius chants to his advantage. With this, it would be difficult for me to see through this, but -!'

Red's instincts took over, feeling danger as his Machamp's eyes darted across the battlefield. It was momentarily surprised by the brief illusion, but thanks to its Foresight, it saw through the illusions of Mismagius and started racing towards the Magical Pokémon's location.

Red trusted his instincts and Pokémon commanded seriously, "It can't dodge forever! Machamp, use Payback!"

*Shiii*

Machamp tensed its muscles, grinning slyly as it focused in on Mismagius' location thanks to its Foresight, as it flexes its arms, and a ring of energy appears around its body. Azure thought cautiously, 'Even through illusions of Mismagius, Red's adapting. Payback, a Dark-type move, would be super-effective. But…'

Glancing at the Max Attack Machamp, a flicker of concern was shown in his eyes. Azure thought calmly, 'If that Machamp truly has No Guard, then all moves would be a guaranteed hit no matter what, then… Burn it is. I got to cut that attack power by half!'

Azure slowly smirked as he confidently declared, "Too slow, Red! Mismagius quick use Will-O-Wisp!"

*Sssss*

Mismagius cackled and spun, releasing three small, eerie blue flames that danced through the air. Machamp, turning to launch its Dark-type assault, was caught off guard.

*BOOOM*

The will-o'-wisp's two flames collided with the ring of energy of Payback, effectively stopping the attack. But the last flame got its intended target. The flames swirled around its mighty torso, sinking into its skin.

Machamp roared in pain and frustration as the Burn status took hold, its skin glowing with a faint, sickly red aura, "MACHAMP!!"

Seeing the chance, Azure commanded swiftly, "Now, Shadow Ball!

*PEW*

Mismagius gathered shadowy energy between its hands, forming a perfect, swirling sphere of ghostly power. With another giggle, it launched the attack.

Weakened by the burn and still recovering its balance, Machamp had no time to dodge. The Shadow Ball was closing in as Azure smiled, but froze seeing Red's confident expression, feeling a sense of worry as he thought, 'Why is he smiling about? His Machamp is – wait… that aura?! No!'

*Shiii*

Azure's eyes widened as Machamp's body glowed a red aura, activating its Guts ability. It grinned as Red ordered calmly, "Sorry, Azure, but my Machamp's ability isn't No Guard… It's Guts! Go! Mega Punch!"

*Zoooom*

Machamp charged through, charging ahead as its fist glowed white in an aura. Mismagius Shadow Ball was coming near it, but then…

*BOOOM*

… using one of its fists, it punched it out of the way, exploding away from it. With Foresight, it was able to counteract Ghost-type moves by touching them as Machamp charged through with sheer determination, startling Mismagius.

Azure was startled by this as the Max Attack Machamp closed in on them. Azure grit his teeth as he thought bitterly, 'Red tricked me! All those hits that Quagsire did against Machamp… they were all on purpose! All just to set this situation up! No!! I won't allow you to play me yet, Red! I have a backup plan!!'

Charging straight at them, Azure urgently ordered, "Mismagius! Attract!"

Mismagius startled, followed by winking cutely at Machamp, causing multiple pink hearts to fly and surround the opponent. The hearts then sink into the opponent, causing it to fall in love with Mismagius if it's the opposite gender.

*Ping*

Fortunately for Azure, Machamp was mostly an all-male species, comprising 75% of the population, while the rest were female, at 25%. Red cringed as Machamp kneelt down and proposed, "Ma – Machamp! (Oh my youthful heart! I see you as a true beauty, my dear enemy! I declare us to be wed, my beloved. Do you agree?)"

Proving its words, it flexed, showing off its muscles. Mismagius chuckles at this as it replies casually, "Mis ~ Magius… (Oh, you're a sweetheart but…)"

Waiting for Azure's command, he said cheekily, "End it. Strong Style! Psyshock!"

*Shiii*

Mismagius forms a purple orb of energy in one of its hands. It replied helplessly to the love-struck Machamp, "Mis~ (Sorry but… no.)"

*BOOOOM*

It then fires three dark purple beams of energy from the orb at the Machamp as it explodes upon contact. The four-armed Pokémon staggered, breathing heavily.

The burn was visibly sapping its strength, its powerful muscles pulsing with pain. But not only that, but the last attack broke his heart as it said, "Ma… Champ… (Ah!... Can you at least… call… me…)"

*THUD*

Machamp's eyes went wide. It wobbled on its feet for a moment before its knees buckled, and it crashed to the ground with a deafening thud.

The referee's flag shot up. He then declared, helplessly shaking his head, seeing Red's Pokémon state, "Machamp is unable to battle! The winner is Mismagius! Trainer Red, send out your next Pokémon!"

[Kanto Region, Pallet Town – Oak's Lab]

Daisy and Prof. Oak were both left stunned seeing the scene before them. They blinked and rubbed they're eyes as Daisy said in a stunned tone, "D… Did Red's Machamp lose by the literal power of love…?!"

Prof. Oak chuckled at the scene once the shock settled over him as he said smugly, "Haha! I… oh! I, for all my years, haven't seen something like this in a long while! The debuff of Attract halted the Max Power of a Machamp!! Hahahaha!!!"

Prof. Oak was laughing out loud, seeing the scene play out. Daisy merely sighed, shaking her head helplessly, muttering, "Poor big guy… he must be heartbroken from that… but then again, though…"

Her gaze shifted to the outside Pokémon watching the match through their own Rotom TV at the battle. They all laughed at the screen as Azure's Gengar laughed proudly, "GEN! GENGARRR!! (I've taught that ghost girl all she knew folks!!)"

Green and Blue's Gengar discussed amongst each other as they laughed. Green's Gengar giggled in delight as it said to Azure's Gengar, "Gen! Gengar!! (Hahaha!! The way she straight-up denied him and went for the kill was priceless!!)"

Blue's Gengar nodded sagely as it mischievously cackled in delight, saying, "Gen! Gengar! (You've taught your student well! Using the power of love of all things to get that cheap win? Very ghostly of you, Gengar.)"

Azure's Gengar wiped ectoplasm off its eyes as it replied casually, returning focus to the Rotom TV gleefully, "Gengar~ (Of course! Only the best for my student, but let's return to our scheduled program! Let's see who's the next victim for tonight!)"

All wisely nodded in agreement. They returned their attention to the Rotom TV displaying for the Tenth Pokémon League Tournament…

[Kanto Region, Indigo Plateau – Stadium]

A stunned silence fell over the crowd for a second before erupting into cheers for the champion. Red recalled his fainted Pokémon, his face a mask of grim determination as he mumbles to himself helplessly, "Good job, Machamp. Now then, what to do against Mismagius…"

Red frowned as he thought about his options against Mismagius carefully, 'With her Attract, it means Saur and Poli would be useless if they get caught. Didn't expect Sky to have such an annoying Pokémon, but I do have an out…'

Red slowly grinned as Azure saw his Ultra Ball on his belt. He had his out as Azure remained cautious, as he thought, 'With this, I'll force Red to use his Legendary Bird. At this point, almost every one of the Kanto Dex Holders has them. They've caught them just to challenge me…'

Azure momentarily paused, thinking that as he chuckled. He thought to himself proudly, 'Haha! You know what? That's probably the greatest form of flattery I could receive, but still… With Mismagius knowing Attract Red wouldn't dare send in his two partners, Saur or Poli, in this. The only real answer would be Articuno, being Genderless, wouldn't be affected by Attract.
