Pokémon Court

Chapter 415: You Know Nothing About Weather

The sky above the entire arena was shrouded in raging sand. Probopass stood like a towering immovable boulder, exuding the air of a monarch amidst the sandstorm.

"Which side do you think has the upper hand?"

The other Trainers couldn't help but engage in discussions centered around this very topic.

Seated off to the side, Brawly remarked, "Roxanne's Probopass seems to have significantly improved. It's already starting to utilize its Ability in battle."

"Can you still hold out?" Kotoko didn't believe that every Pokémon in Terrance's team could possess such overwhelming strength.

"If it's that Gallade, it should be able to take down Probopass in one hit, right?" One of the Trainers, still haunted by the fear instilled by Gallade earlier, muttered resentfully.

...

...

"Well, this is getting interesting."

"A sandstorm, huh?"

Terrance remained calm, surprising everyone. Faced with such a dangerous and disadvantageous situation, not a hint of panic showed on his face.

"Probopass, spread out the Mini-Noses!"

At Roxanne's command, Probopass immediately dispersed the three small units on its body, which swiftly shot into the air. At this moment, due to the sandstorm, the gravity field was canceled by Probopass. It seemed that Probopass had not yet trained these two moves to the point where it could use them simultaneously.

With the gravitational field active, the sand couldn't rise.

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

The three gray-colored Mini-Noses zipped through the air under the control of Probopass' magnetic force, surrounding the Castform that had just begun to float, from three different directions.

Amidst the sandstorm, Castform allowed the grains of sand to whip against its body, enduring the stinging pain while its expression subtly shifted.

Its gaze seemed almost mocking, as if to say that Probopass knew nothing about the sandstorm!

"Block Castform's path with Magnet Bomb!"

Seeing Castform blocked by the three Mini-Noses, Roxanne breathed a sigh of relief. Probopass formed an unstable steel bomb and launched it using magnetic force. A direct path formed between the steel bomb and the Mini-Noses, and Castform seemed to be in danger. At that precise moment, Terrance's order rang out.

"Castform, Weather Ball!"

The sand surged wildly, and the air around Castform instantly turned turbulent. At this moment, countless grains of sand rushed toward Castform, seizing control of the sand surrounding Probopass!

Probopass had never imagined it would be struck by the very sand it once controlled. Under Castform's control, the sand quickly formed into a whip, reversing its direction to force the three Mini-Noses close together. Then, the countless grains of sand once again coalesced into a spherical shape, blocking the steel bomb!

Boom!!

The Weather Ball, now imbued with the Rock-type energy of the sandstorm, clashed with the steel bomb. Light and smoke immediately enveloped the Mini-Noses and Castform.

While most Trainers were startled by the collision of the two moves that engulfed the Mini-Noses and Castform, Roxanne alone wore an expression of disbelief.

The sandstorm... was gone….

Under Castform's Weather Ball, the power of sandstorm had been hollowed out, reduced to nothing. It was as though the sandstorm had become a mere toy in Castform's hands, to be manipulated at will.

If Probopass had used the sandstorm to enhance itself, then Castform was more like the master of this sandstorm, effortlessly controlling the raging sands at will!

Whether it was the sand rope coiled around the Mini-Noses or the Weather Ball formed from countless swirling sand, everything seemed to declare that Castform was the master of the sandstorm.

"No, wait—"

"That's... rain!"

As the smoke cleared, Roxanne noticed something shocking. The connection between the three Mini-Noses and Probopass had been temporarily severed by the powerful shockwave, while Castform, now glowing with a mysterious light, hovered even higher. In that fleeting moment, Castform had completed the move Rain Dance!

Using the move Protect, Castform successfully blocked the deadly attack and cleverly used the attack to sweep away the troublesome trio of Mini-Noses, launching its counterattack. The rain intensified rapidly, and before Probopass or Roxanne could react, the torrential downpour overwhelmed the sandstorm, transforming the arena's weather. At that moment, Castform underwent a transformation, becoming a raindrop-shaped creature.

Castform, Rainy Form, Water-type.

From now on, Castform would benefit from its Water-type, granting it an affinity for Water-type moves, greatly boosting both its proficiency and power. This was a significant threat to Probopass.

"Stay calm—it's not over yet."

Roxanne forced herself to steady her nerves. There was still a chance for a comeback. If the opponent could use her own weather to complete its move, she could do the same.

"Probopass, Thunder!!"

Boom!

Countless bolts of lightning converged, striking down with pinpoint accuracy toward Castform. The speed was so fast that it left no room for reaction—except for Castform, who had complete mastery over the weather across the entire arena!

The moment the lightning energy began to gather, Castform prepared its response. Fierce winds howled as it unleashed the violent Hurricane move, scattering the lightning in all directions. The enormous power caused Roxanne's eyes to contract in disbelief—she had never heard of a move that could blow away lightning.

If Probopass's Thunder borrowed a fraction of the thundercloud's power, then Castform's Thunder could wield at least three times that power. The same principle applied to its Hurricane.

"This is..."

The onlooking Trainers witnessed a battle spectacle unlike anything they had ever seen. The Hurricane that scattered the lightning swiftly swept through countless raindrops, forming a vortex-like Rain Hurricane that enveloped Probopass completely!

Standing only a meter tall, Probopass was like a statue as it remained trapped in place, obscured by the swirling vortex. The onlookers could no longer see it clearly.

"How do we escape this?" Roxanne's expression turned grave as she watched the situation shift from favorable to dire, her heart sinking.

She had no idea what kind of attack Probopass would face next.

"It's over." Seeing Probopass surrounded by the vortex, Terrance calmly gave his command: "Fire the raindrops!"

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

At this moment, the trajectory of the Hurricane shifted. Countless water droplets caught in its vortex seemed to be imbued with immense force, shooting out like bullets. The Trainer who had initially suggested this method of using Hydro Pump wore a look of horror.

It had been shocking enough to see a Swampert use its arm strength to scatter Hydro Pump into bullet-like water droplets in the Champion League. He had never imagined witnessing an even more astonishing sight—a Pokémon using Hurricane to weaponize the water droplets from the Rain Dance move and launch them as attacks!

Although their power might have diminished somewhat, the opponent was a Rock-type Pokémon, who was weak to water. This time, things looked tragic for Probopass.

...

The battle ended soon after. Despite Roxanne's quick thinking—ordering Probopass to manipulate rocks to shield itself from the barrage of water droplets—it still couldn't withstand the relentless attacks from every direction. In that moment, Probopass felt a deep sense of helplessness.

Terrance also sighed inwardly, relieved that the opponent's Ability was merely Sand Force and not Sand Stream. Otherwise, Castform wouldn't have been able to seize control of the sandstorm so easily. The opponent had only been utilizing the sandstorm, whereas Castform, despite having the weakest control over sandstorm weather, had spent the past four months training specifically to gain initial mastery and use of sandstorm weather through Weather Ball after learning the move. This was all thanks to Castform's innate ability to use the immense power of nature to protect its small body!

Roxanne and Probopass had lost due to a lack of information. They never expected that Castform, through the aid of Smooth Rock, had managed to master weather-based moves—one of the hardest moves for Castform to learn.
