Chapter 26: Special evolutions
Kay sat at his desk and opened his laptop, eager to learn how evolution worked in this world, especially special evolutions that needed some special items or methods.
He remembered how, in the games and series, Pokemons like Eevee needed special items like Fire Stones, Water Stones, or Thunder Stones to evolve into their various forms.
Some even required unique conditions, such as specific times of day or particular locations.
However, since arriving in this world, he hadn't seen anything resembling those items or methods.
After spending hours searching online, Kay came across some information that left him completely shocked.
The first thing that surprised him was the revelation that many special evolutions hadn't even been discovered yet.
Unlike the games and series from his old world, where Eevee had numerous evolutions, this world only recognized four: Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon, and Leafeon.
No matter how much Kay searched all the research he found was announcing that Eevee had only four evolutions.
It seemed like trainers here hadn't yet unlocked the secrets behind other Eeveelutions.
After searching more, Kay found a detailed description of how Eevee could evolve into a Vaporeon.
He found that for this evolution to happen, Eevee needed to learn the move Rain Dance first.
Then, it had to swim against the current of a strong river. Only by successfully completing this challenging task could Eevee evolve into a Vaporeon.
Also, Eevee should at least reach the Intermediate Bronze Stage to attempt this evolution.
Kay also discovered that other Pokemons with special evolutions required similarly unique conditions.
For instance, some needed to reach a certain mastery level for some moves, go to certain places, or endure environmental challenges to trigger their evolution.
However, from what Kay had read, the Pokemons that evolved through special evolutions were stronger than average.
As Kay read on, he realized that these special conditions replaced the special items needed for this type of evolution in the series and games in his old world.
Pokemons like Magmar and Electabuzz for example, which required special items or trade evolutions in the games, also needed unique conditions here.
This discovery made Kay even more curious about the mysteries of evolution in this world and the potential secrets yet to be uncovered.
Kay sat back in his chair, deep in thought. The information he had gathered sparked an idea that could exponentially increase his earnings.
If he could discover a way to evolve Eevee into a form not yet known in this world, he could create a patent under his name and sell the method to trainers eager to evolve their Eevee in the same way. It sounded like a brilliant plan, but he knew it wouldn't be easy.
Determined to pursue this idea, Kay investigated the process further. He learned that the league had a system for registering such discoveries.
To create a patent, the founder of the evolution method had to submit a detailed report to the league.
The league would then verify the findings to ensure the method was safe and effective. Once approved, the league would grant the founder exclusive rights for four years.
During this period, no one else could sell or share the method without the founder's explicit permission.
It was a system designed to protect innovation and reward those who brought new discoveries to the world.
The more Kay thought about it, the more he realized the potential. If he could unlock a new evolution for Eevee, he could generate a steady income stream and gain recognition as a pioneering trainer.
He already had an advantage over others as he knew all of Eevee's possible evolutions from the games and series in his old world.
While the exact methods might differ here, having a clear direction gave him a head start.
Kay realized he needed a structured plan to make progress on his idea. He started by researching the known methods of Eevee's evolution to identify any patterns or commonalities.
His goal was to understand how Eevee's evolution worked in this world and use that knowledge as a foundation for discovering a new one.
One of the first methods he investigated was the evolution process for Flareon. According to his findings, an Eevee needed to learn the move Sunny Day before attempting to evolve into Flareon.
Trainers would then have to travel to a mountain called Emberpeak. This mountain was said to have been conquered by Fire-type Pokemons after the disaster, and many legends surrounded its history.
Stories spoke of a mythical Phoenix Pokemon that once visited the peak and left behind a sacred fire that burned eternally.
Despite the passage of time, storms, and rain, the fire never went out, and it was believed to hold a mystical energy connected to Fire-type Pokemons.
To complete the evolution, the trainer and their Eevee would climb to the peak of Emberpeak.
Once there, Eevee had to perform a specific ritual; a dance around the sacred fire. If the dance was performed correctly and under the right conditions, the energy of the fire would flow into Eevee, triggering its evolution into Flareon.
Eevee could dance around any fire to evolve but most trainers still chose to go to Emberpeak Mountain, which caused deaths yearly because of the huge number of Fire-type Pokemons on the road to the peak.
The sacred fire at Emberpeak not only triggered evolution but also enhanced Flareon's strength significantly because of the high quality of the fire energy in this sacred fire.
This additional boost made the journey worthwhile for trainers seeking a stronger Flareon.
Next, Kay researched the evolution of Jolteon. For Eevee to become Jolteon, it had to be exposed to a strong magnetic field.
Trainers typically brought their Eevee to specific areas rich in electromagnetic energy.
There, Eevee would train rigorously until it learned the move Charge. If Eevee already knew Charge before entering the magnetic field, it had to improve its mastery of the move to the next mastery level.
Kay then looked into the evolution process for Leafeon. He found that the key was timing.
Eevee had to be taken to a forest during the blooming season when the environment was teeming with grass-type energy.
In this lush setting, Eevee would train until it learned the move Synthesis. The blooming season's grass-type energy was believed to flow into Eevee during its training, allowing it to evolve into Leafeon.
If Eevee had known Synthesis before, it should have improved its mastery level to the next level, just like Jolteon.
Kay noticed several important common points after going through all the evolution conditions.
In every Eevee evolution he researched, Eevee had to learn a status move that matched the type of its evolved form.
For example, Eevee needed to learn Rain dance to evolve into Vaporeon, Sunny Day for Flareon, Charge for Jolteon, and Synthesis for Leafeon.
This connection between status moves and evolution types was clear and consistent.
Kay also observed that Eevee had to be exposed to powerful environmental energy during the evolution process.
Whether it was the sacred fire at Emberpeak Mountain for Flareon, the magnetic fields for Jolteon, the strong river for Vaporeon, or the blooming forest for Leafeon, the environment played a critical role in triggering Eevee's evolution.
From these observations, Kay concluded that if he wanted to discover a new Eevee evolution, he would need to focus on these two key factors.
First, he would have to train Eevee to learn a status move associated with the type of the desired evolution.
Second, he would need to find an environment filled with energy matching that type.
