Pokemon: Legends of Kanto

Chapter 14: Chapter 14: Daniel vs. Raymond Frost – Power vs. Strategy!

The stadium was still roaring from Alex's intense victory, but now, the crowd was eager for the next battle. The announcer's voice echoed throughout the arena.

"Up next—Daniel Oak vs. Raymond Frost!"

Daniel smirked as he walked toward the battlefield. He adjusted his jacket, glancing at Alex, who had taken a seat in the stands. "Hope you're watching. I'm about to put on a show."

Across from him stood Raymond Frost, the son of Erika, the Celadon City Gym Leader. Unlike his mother, who specialized in Grass-types, Raymond had taken a different path—his team focused on a mix of Ice- and Steel-types, a strategy that had earned him the nickname "The Unbreakable Wall."

Raymond adjusted his glasses. "Daniel Oak. I've studied your battles carefully. Power alone won't win this match."

Daniel chuckled. "We'll see about that."

The referee stepped forward. "This will be a 3v3 battle! Trainers, send out your first Pokémon!"

Raymond threw his Pokéball. "Let's go, Mamoswine!"

With a loud THUD, a massive Mamoswine appeared, its thick fur ruffling in the wind. The ground trembled beneath its weight as it let out a mighty roar.

Daniel grinned. "Alright, let's melt through this wall! Go, Hisuian Arcanine!"

A majestic Hisuian Arcanine burst onto the battlefield, its black-and-orange fur shimmering in the sunlight. Unlike the traditional Arcanine, its rock-like mane made it bulkier, and its fierce gaze burned with determination.

Raymond narrowed his eyes. "Interesting choice. But Fire and Rock won't help much against an Ice/Ground type."

Daniel smirked. "We'll see. Hisuian Arcanine, Flare Blitz!"

Arcanine's entire body ignited in bright flames, and it charged forward with incredible speed, leaving a trail of fire in its wake.

Raymond remained calm. "Mamoswine, Earthquake!"

Mamoswine stomped the ground, sending massive shockwaves that spread across the battlefield.

Arcanine jumped at the last second, avoiding the worst of the attack.

BOOM!

Flare Blitz connected! Mamoswine roared in pain as the flames exploded on impact, sending it skidding backward.

Raymond adjusted his glasses. "That's fine. Mamoswine, Stone Edge!"

Sharp jagged rocks shot up from the ground, striking Hisuian Arcanine directly. The impact sent Arcanine tumbling, but it quickly got back up, growling.

Daniel grinned. "Nice try, but we're not done! Hisuian Arcanine, Head Smash!"

A blue glow formed around Arcanine's head, and it rushed forward with devastating force.

Raymond's eyes widened. "Mamoswine, Protect!"

A green energy shield flashed around Mamoswine, blocking the attack—but the sheer force cracked the barrier, sending shockwaves through the field.

Daniel smirked. "Your defense is solid. But can you keep up? Extreme Speed!"

Before Mamoswine could react, Arcanine vanished in a blur, reappearing behind it with a bone-shaking slam.

CRASH!

Mamoswine collapsed, unconscious.

The referee raised his hand. "Mamoswine is unable to battle! Hisuian Arcanine wins!"

The crowd erupted in cheers.

Raymond sighed. "You're fast. But let's see how you handle this."

He threw his next Pokéball. "Go, Metagross!"

A shiny Metagross landed on the battlefield, its chrome body gleaming under the sunlight.

Daniel smirked. "This'll be fun."

Battle 2: Hisuian Arcanine vs. Metagross

Raymond's eyes gleamed. "Metagross, Zen Headbutt!"

Metagross surged forward, its forehead glowing with powerful psychic energy.

Daniel pointed forward. "Arcanine, Dodge and use Rock Slide!"

Arcanine sidestepped the attack just in time, then stomped the ground, causing large boulders to crash down onto Metagross.

BOOM!

Metagross staggered but shook off the attack.

Raymond smirked. "That won't be enough. Meteor Mash!"

Metagross charged its steel arm with energy and delivered a crushing punch to Arcanine's side.

Daniel clicked his tongue. "Damn… That was a good hit."

Arcanine wobbled but stood firm.

Daniel clenched his fist. "Alright, we're going all out. Arcanine, Flare Blitz!"

Once again, Arcanine's body became engulfed in flames, and it charged forward with tremendous power.

Raymond exhaled. "Metagross, Earthquake!"

As Arcanine collided with Metagross, the ground split apart beneath them, creating a massive explosion of fire and dust.

When the smoke cleared…

Both Pokémon were down!

The referee raised his hands. "Both Pokémon are unable to battle!"

The crowd gasped before breaking into cheers.

Daniel recalled Arcanine. "You did great, buddy."

Raymond nodded, recalling Metagross. "Looks like we're down to our final Pokémon."

Daniel grinned. "Let's finish this. Go, Dragonite!"

A massive Dragonite appeared, flapping its wings powerfully. Its golden scales shimmered, and its eyes burned with determination.

Raymond smirked. "Then I'll use my ace. Go, Weavile!"

A sleek Weavile emerged onto the battlefield, its claws gleaming like razors.

Daniel smirked. "An Ice-type? You're trying to counter me."

Raymond adjusted his glasses. "It's more than that. Let's see if you can handle it."

---

Final Battle: Dragonite vs. Weavile

Raymond pointed. "Weavile, Ice Shard!"

Weavile fired a barrage of ice shards at Dragonite.

Daniel smirked. "Dodge and use Fire Punch!"

Dragonite weaved through the attack, its fist glowing with fire, and struck Weavile hard!

Weavile skidded back, wincing.

Raymond clicked his tongue. "Not bad. But try dodging this—Ice Beam!"

A massive beam of ice shot forward.

Daniel narrowed his eyes. "Dragonite, counter with Hurricane!"

Dragonite flapped its wings, creating a tornado of wind that redirected Ice Beam back at Weavile!

Raymond's eyes widened. "Weavile, dodge—"

Too late. The ice attack struck Weavile, sending it crashing into the ground.

Daniel pointed forward. "Finish this! Draco Meteor!"

Dragonite soared high, summoning massive burning meteors that rained down toward Weavile.

BOOM!

The impact shook the battlefield as smoke filled the air.

When it cleared, Weavile was unconscious.

The referee raised his hand. "Weavile is unable to battle! The winner is Daniel Oak!"

The stadium erupted in cheers.

Raymond sighed but smiled. "I have to admit… You're stronger than I expected."

Daniel grinned. "Told you. Power AND strategy."

As Daniel left the field, he glanced up at Alex.

"Looks like we're both in the semifinals."

Alex smirked. "Better be ready, Daniel. We're getting closer to our fight."
