Pokemon: Legends of Kanto

Chapter 20: Chapter 20: Alex vs. Blaze! A Burning Rivalry Begins!

The air in New Bark Town was thick with heat and tension. Blaze stood tall, his Typhlosion's flames roaring like a furnace.

Alex's lips curled into a grin as he pulled a Poké Ball from his belt. "You want a battle? Fine. Let's see if Johto's got the fire to match Kanto's champion."

Daniel crossed his arms, smirking. "This should be good. Alex, don't burn too fast."

Cynthia, watching from the sidelines, sipped her tea. "I wonder if this Blaze is as strong as he looks."

Blaze's red eyes gleamed. "You'll see soon enough. Let's go, Typhlosion!"

"Typhloooosion!" Flames exploded from the Fire-type's back as it stepped forward.

Alex's fingers twitched as he considered his options. "Alright, then… Lucario, let's do this!"

Lucario appeared in a flash of light, standing firm as it locked eyes with its opponent. "Rrrioo!"

Professor Elm watched from the porch of his lab, intrigued. "A battle between rising legends… this should be fascinating."

---

The Battle Begins!

Blaze didn't waste time. "Typhlosion, Flame Charge!"

Typhlosion erupted forward, cloaked in fire, moving at blinding speed toward Lucario.

Alex's eyes narrowed. "Counter with Force Palm!"

Lucario's paw glowed blue, and just as Typhlosion reached him, BOOM! The attacks clashed, sending shockwaves rippling through the area.

Both Pokémon skidded backward.

Daniel whistled. "They're evenly matched… for now."

Blaze smirked. "Not bad, Ketchum, but you'll need more than that. Typhlosion, Eruption!"

A towering inferno shot from Typhlosion's mouth, engulfing the battlefield in flames.

Cynthia's eyes widened. "That's a move with devastating power—especially when Typhlosion's at full health!"

Alex stood firm. "Lucario, use Extreme Speed to dodge and get close!"

Lucario vanished in a blur, weaving through the flames. Before Blaze could react, Lucario was already in his face.

Alex grinned. "Now, Aura Sphere!"

Lucario's palms glowed blue, and a pulsating sphere of energy shot forward.

BOOM! Typhlosion staggered back, smoke rising from its body.

Blaze's smirk only grew wider. "Heh… I like it. But we're just getting started!"

---

The Clash of Willpower!

Typhlosion's flames suddenly flared brighter than before.

Daniel frowned. "What's going on?"

Professor Elm adjusted his glasses. "That's Typhlosion's ability, Blaze Boost. The more fired up it gets, the stronger it becomes."

Blaze's expression darkened with confidence. "Typhlosion, Infernal Blitz!"

A new move? Alex's mind raced. I don't know this one…

Typhlosion disappeared in a fiery flash, and before Lucario could react—

BOOOOOM!

Lucario was sent flying through the air, landing hard on the ground.

Alex gritted his teeth. "Lucario, get up!"

Lucario groaned but pushed itself to its feet, flames still licking at its fur.

Blaze nodded in approval. "Tough. But can it keep going?"

Alex smirked. "We're far from done. Lucario, use Close Combat!"

Lucario rushed forward, fists glowing as it unleashed a rapid series of strikes.

BAM! BAM! BAM!

Typhlosion tried to withstand the blows, but the force sent it staggering.

Blaze's eyes flashed. "Now, counterattack! Lava Burst!"

A sudden explosion of molten fire erupted beneath Lucario, sending it skyward.

Daniel tensed. "Damn, he's good."

Cynthia's eyes gleamed. "Blaze isn't just all offense… he knows how to set up traps."

Alex clenched his fist. "Then let's break through them!"

"Lucario, use Final Strike!"**

Lucario's aura flared violently, its blue energy intensifying.

Blaze's expression changed for the first time—from confidence to shock.

Lucario vanished.

A single blue streak of light flashed across the battlefield.

Then—

BOOOOOOM!

Typhlosion was sent crashing into the ground, smoke and dust rising into the air.

---

The Aftermath

When the dust cleared, Typhlosion was on its knees, breathing heavily.

Blaze exhaled. "Tch… looks like I lost this one."

Alex smirked. "You gave me a hell of a fight."

Blaze returned Typhlosion to its Poké Ball and stepped forward, offering his hand.

"I'll be back, Ketchum. And next time, I'll win."

Alex shook his hand firmly. "I'll be waiting."

Daniel sighed. "Guess Johto isn't going to be boring after all."

Cynthia smiled. "This was just the beginning."

With a new rival, a new journey, and new challenges ahead, Alex's path through Johto had officially begun.
