Chapter 88: Ch-88

"Oh, Moltres is just a bird. There doesn't seem to be anything special about him," someone in the audience remarked dismissively.

At this point, the audience spread their hands helplessly, showing little interest.

Everyone seemed indifferent. They had seen too many legendary Pokémon already, such as:

The original Pokémon, Mew.

The three members of Ho-Oh's guard: Entei, Raikou, and Suicune.

The legendary Regice, one of the three "titans."

The mythical Pokémon, Darkrai.

The mythical Pokémon, Melmetal.

The guardian Pokémon of the Alola Region, Tapu Koko.

And even the super-legendary Pokémon, Ho-Oh.

So, when Moltres appeared this time, the audience found it underwhelming.

"That's not the case," Professor Oak interjected, his tone piquing everyone's curiosity.

"What's different?" Steven Stone asked.

Professor Oak began to explain:

"If I'm not mistaken, the island attacked by the airship has a volcano on it, the largest volcano in the Orange Islands. It's known as Mt. Ember."

"This volcano is home to a very special species of Moltres. In ancient legends, it's referred to as the God of Fire. Even at night, the flames of this sacred bird can be seen illuminating the peak, which is why the mountain is named after it."

"God of Fire...?" Diantha was stunned.

The audience exchanged puzzled glances. Was this a stronger version of Moltres?

Professor Oak patiently continued:

"In the distant past, the sacred flame used in the Indigo League Conference came from the burning feathers of the God of Fire, not an ordinary Moltres."

"However, due to excessive human interference, the God of Fire became hostile toward humans and developed a fiery temper. It would attack anyone who trespassed on its territory. As a result, the Indigo League eventually stopped relying on the God of Fire and turned to ordinary Moltres for the sacred flame."

"In those days, the God of Fire was revered as a deity in the Kanto Region. Its blazing flames dispelled the darkness that shrouded the region and earned it the title of God of Fire. Its strength rivals that of mythical Pokémon like Darkrai!"

Professor Oak's explanation left audiences worldwide stunned.

"My goodness, so the God of Fire was part of Kanto's history? That's incredible!"

"Yes! A stronger Moltres... this is unbelievable!"

"Ordinary Moltres are already legendary, but the God of Fire is on another level entirely. It's practically a mythical Pokémon!"

The audience began categorizing the power levels of legendary Pokémon:

Third-tier legendary Pokémon: Articuno, Zapdos, Moltres, and the Ho-Oh Guards.

Second-tier mythical Pokémon: Darkrai, Tapu Koko, and Melmetal.

First-tier super-legendary Pokémon: Ho-Oh and Lugia.

If the God of Fire was stronger than ordinary Moltres, it clearly fell into the second tier, making it an exceptionally powerful Pokémon.

Yulongdu's expression was filled with excitement.

In the past, ordinary Moltres had been impressive enough. But now, the God of Fire—a second-tier mythical beast—was a revelation.

The image on the screen shifted, revealing Mt. Ember.

[Moltres, the God of Fire, watched as the volcano it inhabited was turned into a frozen wasteland. Its sharp eyes gleamed with fury, and the feathers on its wings ignited with intense flames.]

[With a powerful cry, it unleashed a blazing inferno, melting the frost covering the island and halting the ice's spread.]

"Continue the attack," ordered the owner of the airship, unfazed by the appearance of the God of Fire.

[The airship launched a barrage of freezing missiles. The God of Fire flapped its fiery wings, skillfully dodging the incoming missiles.]

[However, before it could retaliate, a circular capture ring, controlled by artificial intelligence, was deployed. Caught off guard, the God of Fire was ensnared. Electric currents surged through the ring, forcing a pained cry from the legendary bird.]

"Unbelievable..." Diantha muttered.

The God of Fire, Moltres of the Orange Islands, had been captured. No one could have anticipated this turn of events.

Wallace turned to Professor Oak. "What happens if the God of Fire is captured?"

Professor Oak's grave expression made everyone uneasy. He took a deep breath before responding:

"The God of Fire is entirely different from an ordinary Moltres. If an ordinary Moltres is captured, it wouldn't cause much of an issue. But the God of Fire governs the climate of the Orange Islands."

"If it's taken by the airship's owners, the climate of the Orange Islands will spiral into chaos, causing devastating effects for the residents."

"What?! Is this true?!" someone from the Orange Islands cried out in the audience.

Panic spread among the Orange Islands' spectators. The region was their home, and a climate imbalance could lead to catastrophic disasters.

The screen continued to show Mt. Ember.

[The God of Fire struggled against the capture ring, its flames burning brighter as it fought back. However, the ring's electric current intensified, and its cries of pain echoed across the island.]

[The once-proud deity of the Orange Islands had been subdued.]

Back in the audience, a sense of dread filled the air. If the God of Fire couldn't free itself, the fate of the Orange Islands—and its people—was in jeopardy.
