Chapter 79: Chapter 79: The Gift from Silph Co.
The next day.
Due to the exposure of the Master Ball restart plan, Silph Co. decided to temporarily freeze the research. Team Rocket, having already arranged an escape plan, meant that the international police who came to support could only capture a few stragglers. After a strict interrogation process, they were all confirmed to be low-level personnel who had not been exposed to the truth—nothing more than Team Rocket's cruel 'layoffs'.
Meanwhile, Dan, who had previously fought Red, took advantage of the chaos caused by the international police's intrusion into Silph Co. and slipped away by grabbing onto his Crobat's small wings, as Sabrina and Kadabra mistakenly believed they had defeated him.
Lance also thoroughly understood the extent of Team Rocket's strength through this incident. Their behind-the-scenes influence had actually penetrated the League's top management. If it weren't for the traitors within the League, this operation would not have ended so hastily.
This Silph Co. incident also sounded an alarm in everyone's hearts. The showdown could be considered a comprehensive victory for Team Rocket, severely damaging the League's official reputation. Although they failed to obtain the Master Ball, their researchers had acquired a large amount of research data.
After the incident concluded, Red received a thank-you letter from the President of Silph Co., inviting him to visit the company when he had time. The President wanted to personally repay Red for his kindness.
Not wanting to deal with the troublesome security procedures at the entrance, Red simply used Teleport to arrive at the president's office on the top floor. His sudden appearance startled the President and his secretary, but upon realizing it was Red, they immediately offered a warm welcome.
"Mr. Red, thank you again for saving our Silph Co.!" The President gratefully held Red's hands, signaling his secretary to temporarily withdraw.
"It is my responsibility as a Pokémon Trainer. There's no need to be so polite," Red replied humbly, telling the President not to be so overly enthusiastic in his hospitality.
"Mr. Red, if possible, please allow our Silph Co. to provide evolution services for your Onix and Scyther. We would like to provide the best quality Metal Coat," the President promised.
A Metal Coat is a necessary item for Onix and Scyther to evolve, and a high-grade one can also significantly boost the battle power of the evolving Pokémon.
"I am very honored. I believe that with Silph Co.'s financial and technical capabilities, you can help my Pokémon obtain a Metal Coat of excellent quality," Red said with slight excitement. After all, Onix and Scyther had been clamoring to evolve, their eyes revealing a desire to become stronger. Evidently, last night's battle had indirectly ignited their fighting spirit.
"I still couldn't hide it from you, Mr. Red. I thought I could give you a surprise!" The President revealed an 'as expected' expression, but still shook his head with a hint of disappointment.
Steelix and Scizor first appeared in the Johto region. At that time, researchers couldn't determine the conditions for the birth of the two Pokémon, but from vague outlines, they discovered they were the evolved forms of Onix and Scyther. Only after a long period of research did they discover the Metal Coat required for evolution.
"This is the data for Onix and Scyther." Red took out his Pokédex and transmitted the information to the office computer. "The materials for the Metal Coats that the two Pokémon need are different. You'll need to review them strictly, at least ten times. Once the Metal Coats are customized, please send them to Professor Oak's Laboratory. If possible, it would be best to dispatch a few researchers to assist him."
"Rest assured, for the evolution of Onix and Scyther, our Silph Co. will adhere to the process with absolute strictness. We will not allow even the slightest oversight to occur," the President solemnly promised.
Although Silph Co. could provide an excellent quality Metal Coat, when it came to the technology of Pokémon evolution, Red trusted Professor Oak in Pallet Town more. After all, the latter was an authority in the research field.
Afterward, under the grateful gazes of all Silph Co. employees, Red was forced to walk out the main door with an embarrassed expression. If anyone passed by, the President would enthusiastically rush up to them and gratefully introduce Red's "great achievements" to the poor "victim." This bizarre scene made Red's face flush to his ears, and he quickly left Silph Co. at full speed.
With the data provided by Red, Silph Co. learned of the differences between the two Metal Coats. The first needed to be heavy and highly defensive, three times thicker than ordinary ones, clearly prepared for Onix. The second required its gravity to be reduced by half, preferably a thin and light version that conformed to the body without losing flexible responsiveness, obviously prepared for Scyther.
After returning to the Pokémon Center, Red teleported Onix and Scyther back to the lab, instructing both not to be rude to Professor Oak, as their evolution would be entrusted to his care.
As for the vacant spots on his team, Red decided to first teleport Milotic and the Millennium Gengar back. Dratini and Cubone, the two babies, would stay at Professor Oak's Laboratory for now to supplement their nutrition. Training them too early would hinder their growth, and Red did not want to neglect the childhood they deserved for the sake of blindly increasing their strength.
Beedrill and Charizard currently had to stay by his side to adapt to their post-Mega Evolution strength. However, Red firmly believed that their adaptation would be quite easy and wouldn't even require deliberate training.
"What a pity, I can't use the photo from Porta Vista anymore."
"Red, what photo…?"
Red regretfully hung up the phone under Professor Oak's puzzled gaze. Recently, Professor Oak had been overjoyed studying the Pokémon Red sent back and naturally didn't feel tired from the tasks his surrogate grandson assigned. He even boasted, "Just send them over!"
Ash's trio, who had been missing for so long, finally arrived in Saffron City today.
"This is great! We can finally stop getting lost and living in the forest!" Misty said with emotion. Although the three of them were on the right path thanks to Red's guidance, they still arrived late due to the Team Rocket trio's talent for getting lost.
"Alright, I'm going to challenge the Saffron Gym now!" Ash said excitedly, his Pikachu on his shoulder crackling with electricity, full of fighting spirit.
"Let's find the Pokémon Center and register for a room first," Brock suggested. Recently, due to the stable public order in Saffron City, more and more travelers had visited. To secure a room, Ash's trio had rushed to the city during the day without stopping.
"Oh, right. I wonder who fixed things here," Ash said.
Red, currently in the Pokémon Center, inexplicably sneezed.
(Could Giovanni have regretted his gift?)
