Pokémon: Rebron as Red, The Strongest Champion

Chapter 93: Chapter 93: Victory, Dan's Mission

"That smell is truly a troublesome thing!" Red said helplessly, ordering Hitmonchan to retreat first.

"Chan…"

Hitmonchan lowered its head dejectedly and retreated to Red's side. Although it still wanted to fight, Hitmonchan truly couldn't stand the stench Gloom emitted. That smell was terrifyingly potent.

"It's your turn, Abra!"

The white light dissipated, and the shiny silver Abra appeared in the air. That's right, it was in the air. As soon as Abra appeared, it floated into the air using its psychic power, cleverly avoiding any sudden attack.

"A Psychic-type Pokémon… a truly troublesome opponent!" Erika said cautiously.

Gloom tried to release its stench again, but Abra easily used its own psychic power to bounce it back.

"Gloom, use Seed Machine Gun!" Erika commanded.

Since the stench tactic was ineffective, Erika simply changed her strategy and actively launched an attack on Abra.

"Battle autonomously. I look forward to your performance, Abra!" Red said, quietly taking a step back with Hitmonchan.

(Since it's the Sorcerer King's command, I must win splendidly!)

Abra opened its eyes, its unusual golden pupils surprising everyone. Immediately after, the Seed Machine Gun unleashed by Gloom was entirely controlled by Abra's psychic power and returned to Gloom.

"Gloom, quickly dodge!"

Seeing this, Erika also immediately issued a command for her Pokémon to evade.

(Sink into the despair of immobility. Secret Art: Restrict!)

Abra's golden pupils emitted a blue light, using its psychic power to forcibly control Gloom in place, forcing it to take the Seed Machine Gun attack head-on.

Before Gloom could break free from the psychic restraint, Abra attacked again, suspending Gloom in the air before abruptly dropping it to the ground.

"It's no good! Gloom is a Poison-type, which is doubly weak to Abra's Psychic-type moves!" Brock worried, fearing that his beloved Miss Erika might shed tears.

"Excuse me?"

Misty gave Brock a disdainful look. Whose side are you on anyway?

"Stop, Abra. We've already won, and your performance was excellent!" Red praised. Abra, still in the air, immediately used Teleport and materialized in Red's arms, rubbing against his cheek affectionately.

"Thank you, Red. I lost this match!"

Erika was clear about Gloom's strength. Red's decision to call for a ceasefire was simply because he didn't want Gloom to get hurt further. This action earned Red Erika's goodwill, as Gloom was a cherished partner of hers. Originally, Erika had planned to surrender herself, but she didn't expect Red to propose it first, clearly not wanting Erika to lose face as a Gym Leader.

"Congratulations, Red, this is your well-deserved Celadon Badge!"

Erika and Red shook hands in a friendly manner, and she handed the Celadon Badge to him.

"Wuwuwu~ Miss Erika actually lost! Red, I want to challenge you too!"

A heartbroken Brock wanted to have a direct battle with Red but was immediately knocked to the ground by Misty's punch.

"Don't cause any more trouble for everyone!"

"Yay! Next up is my Gym Challenge!" Ash said excitedly, beginning to warm up with Pikachu.

"I'm sorry, Ash, but since all three of my Pokémon have lost their ability to battle, I'll have to wait a bit before I can have a Gym Challenge with you!" Erika apologized. This was truly unavoidable, as Erika had no more Pokémon to battle Ash with.

"How disappointing~" Ash grumbled, forced to stay there and listen with everyone as Erika recounted the story of how she first met Gloom.

"Sir, you've already tasted three slices of apple. When do you plan to buy some?"

On a crowded street in Celadon City, the long-unseen Team Rocket Trio continued their part-time work. Because they hadn't tried to snatch Pikachu during this time, the Team Rocket Trio's living funds were quite abundant, and they were enjoying a life of lavish meals every day.

"No rush~ I'm quite interested in you yourselves~"

Dan, who was tasting an apple, adjusted his glasses and pulled out a stack of documents from his pocket.

"Jessie, James, and Meowth, a few months ago you were part of Team Rocket's special operations unit, but due to successive mission failures over the past one or two months, and even accumulating a mountain of debt to the organization, you've been demoted from the special operations unit to a miscellaneous unit!"

Dan playfully flipped through the Team Rocket Trio's past files, finding the trio pretending to sell fruit amusing. What kind of experiences could have led to this combination being so inexplicably and miserably demoted?

"Who exactly are you?!" the trio exclaimed in unison. They immediately raised their guard, mistakenly thinking Dan was an agent sent by the police.

"Are your brains too foolish to recognize my identity?" Dan frowned, taking out his Team Captain ID to enlighten the trio before him.

"Salute to you, Team Captain!" the trio immediately exclaimed, changing their attitude. They instantly began trying to butter up Dan, exaggerating various trivial matters to no end, making it seem as if they were very familiar with him, almost claiming kinship.

If Dan hadn't had a mission to assign, he would have left in annoyance long ago instead of staying here listening to the trio ramble.

"Don't the three of you want to return to the special operations unit level again?"

"Gladly at your service, Captain Dan!" the trio replied, their fighting spirit completely ignited.

"To protect the world from devastation!

To unite all peoples within our nation!

To denounce the evils of truth and love!

To extend our reach to the stars above!

Jessie!

James!

Team Rocket, blast off at the speed of light!

Surrender now, or prepare to fight!

Meowth, that's right!"

The spirited Team Rocket Trio immediately took off their clothes, revealing their Team Rocket battle uniforms.

"What a familiar and boring opening…" Dan couldn't help but grumble. He often heard this line from the Butch and Cassidy combination as well.

"Your only mission is to infiltrate the Celadon Gym and create chaos, preferably to the extent of setting the entire Gym on fire. At necessary moments, attract the attention of the Gym Leader, Erika!"

Dan briefly informed the Team Rocket Trio of the mission's procedures, but upon hearing that the mission's destination was the Celadon Gym, the Team Rocket Trio suddenly wilted.

"What? Weren't you very spirited?" Dan said, displeased. He had intended to use these three idiots, but now he couldn't even utilize a bit of their fighting spirit.

"No, Captain Dan!" Meowth quickly explained.

"There's a red-capped boy in that Celadon Gym. We can't beat him at all!" James said fearfully.

"Red's strength is too terrifying. We don't dare to even approach him; otherwise, we wouldn't be down and out selling fruit here," Jessie complained. "Though these recent days have been quite comfortable~"
